Haha, don't take it as an attack, I mean you no harm.

I dl movies, music, even comics, so I know what you mean. But everybody feels that way. If I'm seeding VODs here, I get no credit, but if I don't seed at my other sites I'll be banned. Trust me, none of us really "want" to seed so much as we know that it is what makes the system work and if we don't do it why would we expect others to?

If someone has mystically super internet with no upload limits (how sweet would that be! ) sure they could seed all night. But it's wrong of you to expect them to if you don't at least seed 1:1.

That is my point.

Simple. Add tracker rules. Like a need to have at least a 0.9 ratio.

Or mayb that people can only upload vods if the got at least X ratio.

The problem there is that this isn't a big tracker to begin with and if we give disincentives to people they won't use it at all. It's already underutilized as it is.

I really don't think there is a problem. I have had only great experiences dling from our tracker. I think it's the coolest thing since the search function around here.

ManaBlue, sorry to say this to you off all people, but you are wrong.

ManaBlue wrote:
Maybe he couldn't seed it anymore, or maybe he had 3 hit and runners and said fuck it.

Well... maybe. But it's highly unlikely.
If you checked the link I provided
(one more time: link to .torrent file)
you would see something like:
0 seeders , 3 leechers , completed 0 times
...
How can you upload 30mb and... nah.. forget it.
I don't want to argue. Causes nothing but trouble.

ManaBlue wrote:
All I know is, you thanked no one in the thread, as most don't, and I've already expressed my disappointment in our community for doing that.

Again, check what people post before you state your opinion.

Quote 1: And praises should go to fw and Carnac.
People who stay online until every single one of the users finishes his download.

Quote 2: And thank you for all the VODs I got from you!

Quote 3: I'm not pissed... just disappointed :o(

See? I am disappointed, too.

ManaBlue wrote:
That's pretty selfish and short sighted. How about you upload something and share the great benefits of running up your upload bandwidth from a bunch of ghosts that don't even want to comment on what you've given them for no resiprocation at all? pfft

If there were webstats or something, believe me - it would show me as an uploader.

Don't take all this as a personal attack, because it's neither personal nor the attack.
I just felt that you stated something wrong and had to comment on it.

But I agree with you here:
ManaBlue wrote:
I think we all need to settle down here. Maybe the uploader didn't recieve any thank yous in the Tracker thread and said, fuck these guys. He goes through all the trouble to up and you say nothing, then bitch him out when you don't get what you want?

You are right.
I've never seen uploaders of even requested torrents get a 'thank you' from anyone.
Of course, I don't expect them to like that kind of response, but please if you are doing something - do it right. If you can't seed it, don't even start it. That was the point.

I was maybe a bit harsh to StormMySCV, but he didn't even try to justify his actions.
Instead all I got was:
StormMySCV wrote:
who cares, get ur own vods.

T_T

...
and again - T_T

Seeing later that he shares internet connection with other people and he got a virus I feel kinda bad, and maybe should apologize to him... but he seriously needs to work on attitude.

Anyway, I'd like some mod to lock this topic as if it countinues I'm afraid we'll see more flame here than we need.

For the last words, I'd like to invite all the people to join the tracker, and help themselves and others to share VODs.

Thank you if you read this far,

When the tracker was first established, I strongly recommended a ratio counter and ban those who have their ratio below 1.0.

However, that obviously wouldn't work because there simply isn't enough people wanting VODs (with BT at least) in the first place. We won't even have more than 20 people if the ratio rule was to be enforced.

In conclusion.... BT for VODs will never become "mainstream" so don't complain about it.

Well at least those 20 people would be interested in sharing. I'd rather have 20 good speed/seeders than 150 leechers.

Let the people that dont want to share get their vods from YY.com @ 2kb/s.

Seem pretty logical for me.

People u don't get it totatly right. First of all The most people have a UPLOAD LIMIT witch doesn't allow to upload more than restricted ( for me 1.5 gb ) I always upload till i'm at 1.4 gb but i won't do more because else they take my internet to small band. witch is realy slow so no thx. People who don't have a upload limit better share because what they got to fear for? i'm always checking how mutch i uploaded and try to the best i can . but you guys must understand i can't do more than i can. and that i'm not able to fuck my whole internet for a whole month because u guys want faster speed? I also recommend not to download from tracker but yaoyoun. only for the hot vods (like now reach vs ipxzerg)
regards

That's the problem.

If you can only upload 1.5 GB per month, download 1.5 GB maximum so you can at least give back what you took.

Some people are capped at 1.5 GB per month, but download 10 GB and only distribute 0.5 GB for BT VODs, hence our lack of seeds.

The idea (proposed by FW iirc) was to let the tracker expand by setting no limit, so it would become more popular, and eventually people would share. Sadly, that didn't work.

edit:

Just want to add this,

Without a ratio counter, we are being helpinglessly dependent on human virtuousity, which isn't a safe bet.

I understand your position extremko. I didn't realize that the torrent wasn't completed even once. That sucks.

But...

Again, check what people post before you state your opinion.

I think you've got the wrong idea here. None of this counts as thanks, because you said it all in this thread after you had a problem. Everyone throws in a thank you and a suck up when they need a reseed or have a problem, so it is meaningless. We never would've heard a peep from you if the dl went fine, right? That's the point I'm getting at.

People need to say thanks, comment on the game, say something everytime they dl one. Particularly when the dl goes smoothly!!!

As simple as:

Thanks, these games were great.

or even better:

i love how you included the preshow in the first game vod, thanks!

or:

Ive never seen such a sexy mahl used on tv, these are gold. thanks!

We need to have a community that communicates about the material shared, and this will create better seeding, and more uploads. Silence is the death of p2p.

So I'm not attacking you in particular. I want everyone who shares/leeches/seeds vods to come out and post their thoughts in the original thread. Esspesially when it is positive! Everytime they dl ANYTHING from the tracker!

You're only hurting yourselves if you don't. Reach vs IPX (which was a hot ticket in the vod community) was posted here days after air, by Carnac to whom I am very thankful! (and I said so here http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?currentpage=19&topic_id=26401 )

I would've been uploaded as soon as it was released at bettingcraft if we were more involved!

GO HERE>>>>> http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?currentpage=19&topic_id=26401

POST. SHARE. Have fun!

StormMyScV has had several VODS that have been completed, so I really doubt he's starting downloads and malicously leaving them to rot. Not everyone leaves their connection on all the time. PM'ing him or posting in that thread would have probaly done better than singling him out in a thread.

Yea, I should really be saying thanks to people who have uploaded VODs. :D I've probaly downloaded countless VODs from the old server and from the tracker as well. No, I don't need a reseed, but I do enjoy watching the progamers play and I don't have to wait for some slowass download from Yaoyuan (T_T) I just like the enthusaim in the announcers, if notthing else. (TANK TANK BOOM BOOM BOOM! YAAA!!)I almost always get a decent speed after a while, and I appreciate that.

So yea, I thought it was about time to give some VODs back. I still have a bunch of them that are just sitting here. I've never worked out torrents and that stuff before, but it didn't turn out that bad. Now, I've been trying to share the VODs, many of which I got at a slowass speed from Yaoyuan, so others don't have to. I gotta say you don't really understand the uploaders' problem until you become one yourself. You probaly have to seed the file several times because people will just download it and leave. People probaly will cuss you out because you don't have some super T1 connection. But really, it can be really time consuming, and we just have to live with the fact that some people will only upload files in their own time. It make take a long while, and probaly some reminders, but as long as people make an effort to do their part, we'll just have to deal with the quirks that always pop up.

Nothing witty here atm

I think 2 ideas should be implemented.

1) Ratio rules. Simply as nony stated it.
2) Some way to report to the tracker when you are stuck with a vod. So next time somebody enters, they see what VOD people need upload.

Thats even worse, users on xDSL connections would not be able to limit their uploadspeeds.
i got 110kb/s upload, wich means 110kb/s upload gonna result in like 2kb/s download.
then no play games, no surfing, no chatting.
I rather use bitcomet and set upspeed 70kb/s so i can acctually use my internet to other things.

You are correct.
I just got used to trackers with U/D ratios and rules, so it's visible from my account that I'm uploader.
And people can comment on the same page where torrent stats is so I say my thanks there...
"BT Tracker on TL.net" thread is just too long for me, so I read it once when I heard the news of new tracker, and never again T_T
