I guess it's inevitable. I certainly won't be switching to watch SC2 unless HotS and LotV do a lot to make the game more like BW (get rid of warpgates, refocus the game on siege/anti-siege units, make units clump up less, etc. etc.) Pull that log out of your ass would you? Where in the fiery fuck did you read that they'd stop broadcasting sc bw? NOWHERE! That's right. Shut the fuck up and stop whining like a little bitch. What's wrong with you? Thanks for your opinion about sc2 though. I'm sure someone, somewhere out there cares. Temper tantrum much? Are you going to threaten to punch me through the internet next? Someone hold me, I'm scared. Seriously sick of all people who litterally do nothing but whine in these threads. Get over it. Go to the battle net forums with that kind of attitude. As Yergidy said it might bring viewers to BW. We know nothing yet. Why are you complaining? Why? Let's not pretend this could possibly be good for BW. You, and most everyone else in this thread, came here from the front page. This is actually the Brood War forum. That's some admin's bad, really. I don't blame SC2 fans for being excited about this, but I'm going to express my opinion about it whenever I damn well please, especially on the BW forum. My first post wasn't even inflammatory, I didn't say "no SC2 is shit it'll never be good", I laid out (completely fixable) complaints with the current state of SC2 with hope that expansions will fix them. SC1 needed an expansion to fix it, after all. You proceeded to blow your top and ask me to "pull that log out of my ass" and "shut the fuck up" you "whiny bitch". How about you behave yourself on the BW forum and act like the guest you are here? ALL of the users here are guests here. The entire damn site is Admin's turf. If you don't like how they do their work, you leave. If you believe that you are somehow more special than the recent members here because of your post count or how long you've lurked here, you are sorely mistaken. The point is, mind your own manners first.
Yeah defend the rage filled sc2 kid, it really was silly to post this in the BW forums, this is news for all the happy-go-lucky sc2 fans over on the sc2 forums.

I mean, I guess it's nice that this is confirmation that there's going to be another PL season (if anyone doubted), but this is entirely 100% SC2 and should be moved.
It's good that both games are going to exist side-by-side, though, and that they're going to get computers can can actually play the damn game, OGN.
Hey, OGN already did that for WCG. And with this announcement, them making the move to upgrade their equipment does make more sense.
The only reason I can think of for this being in the BW section is for the SC2 fans to see our perspective. They're drowning us out anyway, so it really isn't accomplishing the purpose and should probably be moved to SC2 General.

I'm not sure what your point here is, stating the obvious like that. No, I don't "believe I'm somehow more special". Hell, my account is only from a couple years ago, I'm no veteran here.
However, it should be common sense that going to the Brood War forum and telling people there that their game is outdated and that BW fans are "stuck in the past" is simply bad manners. Dumb analogies like Win XP/7 aren't helping things much, either.

It depends, if it is broadcasted before or after PL(As in it does not interfere with SCBW) then perhaps the foreign interests in BW can rise as people will watch BW before or after SC2. This could potentially lead to more, although that is hoping for too much at this point I guess.

When they invented softball not every baseball player went to play that new game. When they invented checkers not every chess player went to play that new game. SC2 is a new, different, and imo shittier, game, just like WC3 and AOE3 or whatever that came after BW. It's not an 'upgrade', the only thing it shares with SC1 is the name.
Sports, with consistent rules, lasts for centuries. Expecting BW to die after a decade is stupid, and shows that you don't believe in 'esports' at all.
The engine of esports is still technology. It's hard to make a direct 1:1 comparison to an actual sport like baseball or football. As technology and gaming advance, different games begin to dominate whereas others are forgotten; you can't expect a piece of technology to stay the same and still dominate a market 10, 15, 20 years down the line. Whereas chess is still chess, and remains a popular game no matter what; it's not tethered to anything, like a videogame is tethered to technology. They aren't directly analogous.
I expect BW to die, like any other out of date tech/videogame; and guess what, 12-15 years from now SC2 will die too, and our kids will be talking about SC3. That doesn't mean I don't believe in "esports," It means I understand how markets evolve.

SC2 is currently way too lame to be taken seriously as a eSports game. It lacks so many key points that made BW such a success.
If KeSPA falls into the trap of SC2, I fear they will lose a lot of money and certainy a lot of respect from both players and fans of SC:BW.
Very unfortunate

We BW fans are becoming marginalized at every step. Of course we're going to be in defensive postures.
This website is clearly more focused on SCII than BW The majority of us speak English and the English speaking world is clearly more focused on SCII. Hell, we can't even watch our games in English or read about them in English. Our player roster is being marginalized as more and more B teamers and old Bonjwas go over. In almost every global event, BW is being marginalized if not cut right out. Our forum here is a constant battleground, as we now are about 1/2 of the poster count ...
So...yea, now you're telling me that my PL is "meshing," with SCII? I was more than fine with my game, my PL and my website. I have none of these things now, as they were.
I, of all people, don't want to start the war here but the fact is this is why we get pissy. Every, single, time.
Just try and think from our side next time you want to come in here and post like villageidiot or any of his ilk. We don't care that you like your game, we want you to enjoy it. We just want what once was back or at the very least to stop being squeezed in and nudged over to make room for the new puppy.
So, while you see it is "cooperation," and "sharing," we see it as just another in a long line of unfortunate events that continue to shrink and mold our sport alongside something it is not, taking away fans, airtime and players.
Either way, thank you for the news OP. It's always nice to know what is going on in the scene. This is like a Windows XP fan being upset about Windows 7 taking over, being implemented in businesses, etc. Change happens. BW is amazing, but the fact remains that it was around for more than 20 years. It had a great run and continues to have a healthy life. But you certainly can't expect the scene to live forever. SC2 and BW can live side by side as long as Korea is BW dominated. The entire foreigner scene has moved to SC2. It's sad groups can't find English speaking casters for games, but that's a symptom of a regional product; BW pretty much only dominates in Korea, and China while the rest of the world has moved on. There are plenty of asshole SC2 fans who seem to take glee in laughing at BW fans and that's unfortunate and wrong. But there are also plenty of delusional BW fans who act like SC2 is some fad that will disappear while their favorite 20 year old game will magically make a comeback, all while demeaning SC2 fans as well as the game. So there's blame on both sides. BW will live as long as the money is there, and like any other thing, it will die when the money leaves. That's life.
Bad analogy. Someone else already explained it a few posts up, but obviously not the same transition.
Aside from the poor timeline you present (it's still a few years from being a two decade old game but if we want to get into that game, people have been playing soccer for much, much longer. If we want to use an actual linking analogy here, chess has been played for countless years as well.) the foreigners moving could be explained by a variety of factors, including Xenophobia at it's worst and a glaring skill gap.
As for the fans that cause grief, good point but then you go and ruin it by demeaning someone in your very post denouncing demeaning speech! What kind of logic train are you riding?! Plus, the money? You serious? There's been countless things before that have survived not being profitable...coincidentally....chess is one of them.

Why are so many SC2 people so sure that SC2 willt ake off and become huge in korea in 2 3 years? :D i mean its not that BW is "dying" its eSport as a whole in Korea Oo so i dont understand how u can think that right now.

I understand the paranoia, but this really isn't something to get worked up over. If anything, Special Force fans should be the ones who are worried.

i dont see how u could integrate them togethor in a single competition thats like saying we can have gaelic football and australian football in the same league or alternatively
haveing rugby union and rubgy league in the same competition sure they have some simiarities but at the end of they day they are not the same thing. Additionally kespa can stay tfu of my sc2.
at the end of the day sc2 is good and fun to watch but SC:BW is better imo.
