You think there'll be an SC6 in 10 years? Vanilla SC to SC2 took 12 years. There's no need to worry about SC3 hitting the scene anytime soon.

Agreed, by the time they finish selling the 2 other SC2 discs, the game will have already been out for 3-4 years.

Now Blizzard has the help of Activision, experts of churning out a sequel every year. We'll be on SC3 a year after LotV

If there will be demand SC3 will come in no time.

So exciting, maybe we'll see more BW programmers possibly switch to SC2!

The whole thing looks like a way to force a transition to sc2, which is going to be a really "take it or leave it" kind of offer, cause say some sponsors might not find SC2 attractive and just force the teams to disband. The situation is really complicated and I have no idea how this is going to work out, but again it all seems like a way to force the BW competition to SC2, doesn't matter if Flash and Bisu want to switch to SC2 now or in 5 years if they get payed 250k yearly to do it now and play it on TV as they used to do with BW.
With all due respect to all sc2 fans (im following both games), but in current state of the game, if you would put BW proleague match and after this sc2 proleague match comparison would be so much in favor for BW. Korean audience live/lived BW for years, they LOVE it, and there are reasons for it. SC2 would look kinda bleak in comparison.
But you have international audience, they thrive for SC2 pro team (just look at comments), there is still big revenue you can get by having proper sc2 league broadcasted internationally, however i dont know how those Korean sponsors would appreciate it. Mostly they are Korea based manufacturers, sponsors like Razer, Intel would give much for having super SC2 team but SKT? CJ? Not sure.

Hopefully that shouldn't happen with Blizzard holding KESPA's leash.

This is huge for the korean sc2 scene. As long as Gretech accepts whatever offer Kespa is giving them i cant see this not go through. And if Gretech starts whining about it i have a feeling a lot of korean sc2 teams will start a shitstorm since this is something they have been working towards since the release.

Shiiiiit, this is pretty huge :D

The possible paths this can go down for brood war makes me a bit uneasy, but for some reason, I'm a bit happier at the idea that Kespa has gone under internal restructuring that actually resulted in a dramatically different stance than in the past. I recall reading in the past that something along the lines of CJ gaining or losing power within the organization led to what we now call dogspa. Maybe we're possibly moving away from that?

You sure about that?
From what I heard from the great exploiter named Kotick, they'll be making sequels from their titles every year. so in every decade, id be expecting atleast 2 new SC titles, 1 Diablo, 5 CoDs, 3 WoW Expansions.

I don't know, if Bisu&Co are coming to Blizzcon 2011, the main reason cannot be just showmatching SC:BW.
With HOTS, i expect a lot of proteams switching to SC2 - not because of blizzard, but the lack of sponsors for korean teams and the fact that SC2 managed to go global, unlike SC:BW
|
I'm not sure what this could entail. I'm a bit scared of Kespa though. Kespa has fucked things up with terrible decisions SO many times in the past, while Gretech has not. There's great potential here, including potential for disaster.

I'm angry at how a lot of people are looking at this.
BW is not dying out anytime soon, don't let peopleon the forums ruin your PL 11-12 experience.
It's not a bad thing that KeSPA is running an SC2 PL,they wouldn't do it if it would hurt BW(because BW is their everything).

All the BW programmers already either switched to SC2 or went to work for different companies already!

So if it is to be happen, will BW proteams somehow acquire ST/IM/Sls/etc (cuz theyr way bigger) or the two would co-exist to create a (about) 16 teams proleague ? Still it's too good to handle =)

They should just play SC2BW =)

It's all speculation at this point, but I can't see it happening any other way than BW teams acquiring either SC2 teams or SC2 players.
