Oh man, this is gonna be so cool. I wonder if they'll give out autographs!? I'll be able to see Jaedong in person rather than just in those hilarious comics *squee*

I hope they play some cool exhibition matches :D this sounds pretty awesome

Did you know: Lots of BW maps have "destructible rocks"?

Examples from last years BW mappool: Benzene, (Neo)Beltway.

Haha guess I missed those, as I said, not watched a whole lot yet, seeing I rolled into bw late. just that I like it more

Point still remains about destructable rocks though!!

Haha. :D Destructible rocks are a Gimmick, but they themselves do not make the difference you describe. /comparison.

This is more or less what I expect is going to happen:

The four players board the private jet Blizzard has leased to bring them to blizzcon. They take their seats and the plane takes off, flying towards Blizzard HQ. The four progamers are chatting amicably when a man strides in from cockpit of the plane. He is tall, clad in black and wearing a plain white mask. The four pros fall silent as the man clears his throat. He speaks in soft, silbant tones. “Welcome to this humble jet, courtesy of my employers, the mighty Activision. I’m sure you will find this trip to be most… persuasive.”

Jangbi interrupts “wait, who are you? What are you doing here?” The man chuckles, his laugh made all the more eerie by the muffling effect of the mask. “My name is unimportant, you can call me Mr.Frost if you wish. Let’s just say I represent the interests of Activision-Blizzard, and I am here to make you an offer. An offer you won’t be able to refuse.” He pauses a second for dramatic flair. “You see, we have determined that the ancient relic of broodwar must die, and you will be the ones to kill it.”

The four progamers break into shocked gasps “Never!” they shout in unison, all speaking indignant. The man simply lifts a hand and waits for the outraged men to fall silent “As I said, the offer I am going to make you is irresistible. Now, I could offer you money and power, yet you already have that and more. I could offer you fame and glory, yet you have all attained that already. So, I won’t offer you any of that, instead, I will offer you something more, something lesser men have only aspired to. I offer you immortality, I offer you the ability to defeat flash, I offer you the ability to transcend your mortal bodies and become something greater. Of course you could turn me down, refuse my offer, and find how far the power of my associates extends, find yourself and everything you love shattered into pieces. The choice is yours, take me up on my offer, accept cerebral extraction and become part of the Ultimate Gamer, the machine man hybrid that will first rule E-sports with an iron fist, and the eventually the world, or refuse and discover just how far the tendrils of Activision stretch”

“Which will it be?”

The jet will touch down at Blizzard HQ 12 hours later,

Wait. Destructible rocks......

Aren't ours like.....generators or temples?

I think that's better than rocks...because it at least adds some map flavor other than a big gigantic block of rocks that just so happens to be forming RIGHT where your command center/nexus/hatchery needs to be.

D rock + Worker Pathing (glitch) = Win

I remember Bisu lost to Flash once like this when Flash sneak into his base and barrack+bunker at the cliff over the main mineral line.

There's a tiny chance that this event will be the announcement of a Kespa/OGN run SC2 league in Korea, which would hopefully bring bw professionalism/sponsorship into SC2. Current BW S-class will not switch to SC2 until the money, professionalism, and popularity reach the same level as BW.

gah this thread turned into a flamefest quickly.

anyways regardless. Lets see what happens. I think it may be the bw HD remix which would essentially be bw with better res' and better graphics. I think it would target the mass market of the Koreans and china.

I don't see them playing sc2 tbh. They have reputations to think about.

Jesus christ.. Can't you just keep this crap in the thread specified?

Is there a problem...?

Posting a potential reason as to why they are coming as no reason was stated. Don't see why you are mad.

They get offended when people suggest that a BW player is switching to SC2 or joining an SC2 team. Especially because it's pure speculation.

Hrm...?

Of course i'm speculating, I haven't seen anyone else mention It and I'm throwing it out there as a potential reason for them coming to Blizzcon, I mean... why else would Blizzard send invites to BW pro's to a major event with a SC2 tournament, seems somewhat likely for someone like JD who is currently teamless.

Yep Blizzard needs to invite Jaedong to Blizzcon so he can join EG.

Makes complete sense.

And not to mention inviting 3 of his great gaming buddies with him. Hey, maybe they will join too?

We can only hope.

why the fuck would blizzard invite them to play sc2? lol

There will be brood war show matches, and I'm sure they'll be invited to play some sc2 on side pcs just as people did at previous blizzcons. They may even try to stream some of those matches and cast it, but that's different than "Okay now it's time for the Bisu vs Jaedong sc2 showmatch on the grand stage". They're not going to be invited to play sc2, and if they do have a showmatch it would come up incidentally.

And they'll play some of the sc2 for fun and probably watch some of the sc2 tourney/gsl finals as part of the audience. And some interview will happen where jaedong says he could switch to sc2 if the time is right and people will cite it/mistranslate it as an example of jaedong/bisu/fantasy/jangbang switching to sc2 in 2012. And jangbi or bisu will say how they think warp-in mechanics is interesting and someone will make a thread about whether or not they would be the best harassment sc2 protoss ever when they make the switch, and that thread will have a flame war, etc etc.

Not to mention that kespa would call and tell them to stop playing, or they can forget their progaming license.

Unlikely. If there is something Kespa/their teams don't not wan't them to do they will be informed before departure and, of course, they will follow those rules diligently. It's part of their job.

No need for this OMG KESPA IS SOO EHVUL!!! scaremongering.

RIGHT. TLO NADA situation probably wont happen again. Sponsors have too much leverage over kespa now. They were willing to have tossgirl play sc2 exhibition matches in china for lg so playing some nonpro games is not out of the question.

Ugh, you might want to read my post again...
I didn't say anything about what they are going to do or what is out the question or not at all. Just pointed out the unlikelihood of some last minute phone call intervention from Kespa as portrayed in the post that I quoted.

Yes, there are tactical experience (which I guess is more important because from MLG I gander single engagement can be the game-decider) but those come over time.

Also I knew BW trolls were going to flame SC2 and take away our already rather debatable "moral superiority", heh.

ALL of the very top sc2 players were mediocre in brood war. Yes, top brood war pros had unbelievable mechanics, but why people think that that took away from the level of strategical thinking required to play brood war is beyond me. Flash is well-known for not having the best mechanics; he instead possesses an incredibly good RTS-mind.

why the fuck would blizzard invite them to play sc2?

No they weren't. That was a lie. Some Koreans spread rumors that Tossgirl was super-gosu at SC2 so Chinese players would drop out of the tournament rather than risk losing to Tossgirl, which is amazing that it worked. She didn't actually play. BW pros playing SC2 for show without KeSPA caring indicates that Blizz did something to sweeten KeSPA's mood (like fund the 8th team)

why would blizzard invite them to try to "bring" them to sc2 when bw is still lucrative for blizzard in south korea

Pro BW isn't lucrative for Blizzard. They don't make a cent off it, that's why the lawsuit happened.

Blizzard Pro SC2 Team. You heard it here first!

No shortage of SC2 teams. Blizz BW team (secretly in exchange for friendlier KeSPA with SC2) is much more likely

Maybe Blizzard made new agreement with kespa ( because one year contract has expired) and they will convert all bw teams to SC2. And these player will anounce the changes. This would be sweet.

No. The new Proleague season is starting soon. The new PL maps have already been tested and all pro-teams have conducted their intra-house ranking games to determine who makes the roster for the upcoming season opening. Effort was also officially registered as a progamer (again) yesterday.

Why would you even treat such and obvious troll seriously? Come on.

N~yorn?

Look, here's how it's going to go

Blizz: Hey everyone, it's BW pros!
BW Fans: yaaaay. (Activision sucks!)
Blizz: And they're playing BW showmatches and/or appearing at a panel
BW Fans: Yay!
Blizz: And since they're here, let's also have them play HOTS, for fun. What do you guys think of it?
BW Pros: Enh. It's okay.
Blizz: I'm sorry, we left the mic off. What do you guys think of HOTS, the game funded by the same people who are also now funding a BW team and keeping you employed?
BW: Everyone on earth should buy Starcraft 2.

That's my prediction
