looks like blizzard trying to temp the top tier sc1 players over.

would mean more $$ for them cause of the licensing rights with sc2 but at the same time really cool to see how these sc1 legends will do. this will just be the beginning of the end for sc1 imo. time to move on yo!

I hope they play both bw and sc2. I think they will definitely play some BW matches and maybe just a few sc2 games for shits and giggles.

Blizz probably just wants to show them how big of a international fan base there is for SC2. They'll also sell more online passes to bw fans in Korea, which will also introduce those fans to SC2 if they haven't been already.

why the fuck would blizzard invite them to play sc2? lol

There will be brood war show matches, and I'm sure they'll be invited to play some sc2 on side pcs just as people did at previous blizzcons. They may even try to stream some of those matches and cast it, but that's different than "Okay now it's time for the Bisu vs Jaedong sc2 showmatch on the grand stage". They're not going to be invited to play sc2, and if they do have a showmatch it would come up incidentally.

And they'll play some of the sc2 for fun and probably watch some of the sc2 tourney/gsl finals as part of the audience. And some interview will happen where jaedong says he could switch to sc2 if the time is right and people will cite it/mistranslate it as an example of jaedong/bisu/fantasy/jangbang switching to sc2 in 2012. And jangbi or bisu will say how they think warp-in mechanics is interesting and someone will make a thread about whether or not they would be the best harassment sc2 protoss ever when they make the switch, and that thread will have a flame war, etc etc.

Not to mention that kespa would call and tell them to stop playing, or they can forget their progaming license.

Unlikely. If there is something Kespa/their teams don't not wan't them to do they will be informed before departure and, of course, they will follow those rules diligently. It's part of their job.

No need for this OMG KESPA IS SOO EHVUL!!! scaremongering.

RIGHT. TLO NADA situation probably wont happen again. Sponsors have too much leverage over kespa now. They were willing to have tossgirl play sc2 exhibition matches in china for lg so playing some nonpro games is not out of the question.

Why are you trying to rip these players from teams that they've already been on. This is a ridiculous post.

I hope they will play both BW and HotS showmatches. BW matches with these guys are always a treat and just seeing these guys try SC2 for fun... huge nerdgasm like back then when NaDa played against TLO. Most of all I just hope they have a good time and see that foreign community exists and loves them. I'm a bit jealous for those who are going to Blizzcon.
It can't be helped. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Maybe Blizzard made new agreement with kespa ( because one year contract has expired) and they will convert all bw teams to SC2. And these player will anounce the changes. This would be sweet.

"force them" - as in they won't be allowed to play bw because they're in restraints or something? ... and they're out of touch because they promote a new game over a really, really old game.?

everything you just said is backwards.

Blizzard would be out of touch because Brood war is much more popular than SC2 in Korea, is aired on prime time TV, and is watched by people who don't play the game. Contrast that with SC2, which is watched almost exclusively by its players, broadcast over a hodge-podge of different internet streams, and has gained no acceptance outside of gamer culture.

SC2 people dont give a fuck if you are fan of both, because they are the majority and they mostly leave you be, but bw die-hards just seem to use every opportunity to discredit sc2.

Not even gonna touch the rest of your post (but rest assured it's kinda dumb too) but I hope you realize what a ridiculous thing this is to post

why would blizzard invite them to try to "bring" them to sc2 when bw is still lucrative for blizzard in south korea

and because blizzard doesnt treat its games like that

i hope they will play bw and some HotS showmatches too like peksi said.

blizzard has never turned its back on one of its games the way some people are suggesting is going to happen with these 'bring them to sc2' comments

blizzard just isnt the same after they merged with activision.

anyways dont know why they would play any SC2 at all. they would suck so bad at it, itd be like watching silver league players playing.

would be funny (and it might happen actually) if they did showmatches in BW and people from SC2 got moved to BW instead.

No. The new Proleague season is starting soon. The new PL maps have already been tested and all pro-teams have conducted their intra-house ranking games to determine who makes the roster for the upcoming season opening. Effort was also officially registered as a progamer (again) yesterday.

How bw is lucretive? WOW is lucretive. bw is just a stone on Blizzards road compared to SC2. bw is probably most pirated game made by Blizzard or second to Diablo 2. People can't pirate SC2, so it is much easier to manage and every new fan will buy the game.

Maybe blizzard flew them in so they can teach dustin browder something about the magic competitive component that sc1 had and sc2 somehow lacks. And while at it tell him destructable rocks are a bad thing.

Ps. Not from a sc1 elitist, I came into community because sc2 but I like watching sc1 matches more. They seem more competitive, actionpacked and rewarding skill more.

Did you know: Lots of BW maps have "destructible rocks"?

Examples from last years BW mappool: Benzene, (Neo)Beltway, Monte Cristo, Alternative.
