Q: You have accomplished the legend of fall. How does it feel? A: Preparing for the finals was really difficult. I gave up my Korean Thanksgiving vacation, and I started sleeping less and having less break time to practice. I wonder if I had ever practiced this much during my time as a progamer. It's really emotional right now to win it all after I was 2nd place so many times. I really don't know how to express my feelings right now.
Q: You played great games in Sets 1 and 5 using Carriers as the core of your army. A: In set one, I thought he wouldn't be able to stop it even if he knew it was coming so I prepared a fast carrier build. In Set 5, I wanted to change my strategy depending on the location, and as long as the spawn wasn't 12 o clock, I was going to use Carriers.
Q: Do you think that you have left the Kong Line now? A: Because I've only won once, it may be difficult to say that I've left the Kong line (laugh). If I won once and left the Kong line, then how sad would Stork hyung and fantasy be? I think I need to win one more time to properly leave the Kong line. I think this system is really fun.
Q: In Set 5, You have created an unbelievable come back victory. What was the momentum that turned the tides? A: After my Stargates were destroyed, I played through the match quite behind. But I thought that if I could just collect carriers, I could definitely make a come back. Because I thought my opponent would go from being advantageous to being behind, I concentrated as much as I could. I countered into his main with Dragoons [DES interview cuts off here]
Q: This is your first victory, but you must have really complicated feelings about it. A: Because it was my first victory, I really wanted to laugh. But I saw from the TV that my parents were crying so I felt emotional. I think people are weak in front of their parents' tears even if you're a man (laugh)
Q: You must have been really pressured because you've received so much attention before the finals because of the "Legend of Fall" A: If I was the way I was before, then I would have felt burdened by it. But now that I've gotten older and gained experience, I actually learned how to enjoy receiving the spotlight. To be honest I had a lot of fun preparing for the match.
Q: If you had to say something to your foreign fans A: I think through this victory, I think the foreign fans just now started to recognize my name. Please cheer for me more in the future. Q: For a while, you gained the nickname "Pae-wang" and hit rock bottom. A: To be honest when I was caught in the losing-streak swamp, I debated whether to go to Airforce Ace or not, and honestly I also thought about giving up becoming a progamer. But I saw a ray of light (laugh). Suddenly, I thought that I could go back up for some reason. What I felt was that people who always work hard will be rewarded one day, and I'm really satisfied that it happened exactly like that. There were times were it was so difficult I wanted to die, but because I was rewarded for my effort, I've felt a deeper happiness.
Q: Now that you've won once, you must have gotten more goals. A: Isn't the season after you won really important? I want to be a player that can win two, three times. To be honest I also want to get a Golden Mouse (laugh)
Q: What were you most concerned about while practicing? A: Since it was Korean Thanksgiving season there weren't many people who could help me practice. At the day of Korean Thanksgiving, there was just the puppy and me (laugh). But the next day my younger teammates came running back immediately and helped me practice. I need to treat them to something (laugh).
Q: Anything else you want to say? A: I want to thank the people who always support Samsung Electronic Khan without holding anything back -- Mr Kwon Kang Hyung, Mr Lee Joo Yun, and Mr Park Jong In. And while practicing, January and coach Choi and all the players helped me as if they were the ones practicing, like Proleague Finals. Coach Choi especially, because his wife is pregnant, it must have been difficult for him to come help me during his vacation, but he helped me without missing a day. And I want to thank Light from Woongjin and the Airforce Ace players for also helping me practice.
And I really want to thank the fans from the bottom of my heart as they cheer for me even when I'm slumping or doing well.
And lastly, I want to thank my parents, my sister, my sister's boyfriend, my grandmother, my aunt in Daejun and Seoul, and my sister's college friends, and everyone who came to the scene of the finals and didn't hold themselves back cheering for me.
JangBi is a baller. I'm terran in my soul forever and i dont like toss in general but Jangbi won my heart a long time ago and im so happy for him now. Golden mouse heh - maybe he could do it
Q: If you had to say something to your foreign fans A: I think through this victory, I think the foreign fans just now started to recognize my name. Please cheer for me more in the future.
Jangbi needs to see watch himself on youtube against Nada on Othello and Flash on Blue Storm(I miss this map).

ill admit i didn't know who jangbi was until he was facing zergs and getting his ass handed to him by guys like jaedong and hydra, but what caught my attention was his RO8 when he somehow pulled out that win from Flash. Truely impressive and great job to the Jangbi for his victory and perseverance throughout the whole time as a slumping toss to a winning toss.
My first ever BW series and i got serious nerd chills and shed a single manly tear when jangbi turned the game around and finally won the championship! Brotoss Hwaiting and Jangbi Hwaiting!

Definitely, with the last game appropriately one of the best individual games. I know people are complaining a bit about Fantasy's skill level during some of it but consider that a lot of pressure was being put on him by Jangbi's play too. Regardless the way it played out was perfect i wouldn't change any of it.
Not even a big fan of Jangbi particularly (but who really dislikes him?), but being P, vengeance for Stork, his comeback and hard work paying off like he says is all the sweeter. The stars aligned and somehow every turn he got past. I'm not a big hater of Fantasy or anything but i would have been crushed if he had won game 5. It really felt like we got what the majority of us really wanted this time and in closest fashion possible instead of crushing disappointment.
Its a good series to show people too, just on it's own it's good.. but for those of us who watched him lose 3-0 to Luxury and mostly disappear for so long with only glimpses of past form it's wonderful.

Thank you Milkis. I guess JangBi won't think about enrolling into Airforce Ace anymore. JangBi for Golden Mouse ! Show your support for JangBi and jangbang hellout of tweets at him.
Thank you for the interview! I haven't been this excited since incruit 2008. And the same breathtaking 5th set. Hope we will see each other again when Brave will win 2014 autumn OSL. I believe!
PS: that was even scarier 2-0 toss lead, 2-2, toss 3-2; now 1-0, 2-1, 3-2
I always love watching BW matches (especially major ones) live because it is such an experience. I had to miss the finals because of the wedding rehearsal of one of my best friends, itself an emotional event, and to come home to this result.... wow. I've been sitting here for an hour being unable to write a decent reply, just reading all the OSL related threads with a big smile on my face (the last 50 pages of the LR thread were epic) and my insides in joyful turmoil. Honestly, I think I would have cried along with the Samsung Khan fans and Jangbi's mom if I had watched it live. And yet, if you went back 2 years back in time and told me a video game would make me feel this much emotion, I would have laughed in your face. Thanks for the interview translation, CONGRATULATIONS JANGBI (even sent him a tweet, which I never do! @jangbitoss), and can't wait for the VODs.
So happy for Jangbi right now. Its beyond amazing how Jangbi won this OSL from start to finish. Its something like miracle after miracle happening for Jangbi.
This will be remembered as the greatest OSL final of all time !!
JangBi was way overdo for a tittle . I always thought he had more talant then stork and bisu , but he kept losing to Bisu in the finals and lost to Luxury also . With Flash and Jaedong making life difficult for every progamer the past few years it wasn't easy for him to make it this far .

Aw Jangbi has no idea how many foreign fans he has

Not a player, I think that was Harry, Samsung Khan superfan
Oh man. How come I didn't know about him before. LoL.
Harry is the guy who accompanied Daniel.
I met Harry when I was in Korea, watching Starcraft live. He was really nice guy, root for Samsung and Stork and his english was very good. Damn, I miss live watching Starcraft so much .

DAMN IT WE'VE KNOWN YOU SINCE YOU WERE A FAT KID SWEATING IN THE ODT BOOTH AGAINST ANYTIME IN 2007!!
WOW janbi, what a way too win man!!! winning wild card in first stage, and in group stage, beating The ultimate weapon, then the guy who you lost in the first stage, and now taking the finals. I'm happy and I regret missing the games. BW forever
Jangbi's journey mirrors storks journey 3years ago in a way, Jangbi beat an skt player to reach the final the same as stork only to face Fantasy. Fantasy beat a cj zerg to reach the final the same as 3 years ago. Stork already had 2 osl silvers while Jangbi had 2 msl silvers. Both was set during the legend of the fall and both time the protoss manages to win. Props to you Jangbi and congrats.
wow while i'm not a big fan of protoss (gives me nightmares in bw ) it is nice to see a protoss win finally. Congratulations jangbi really surprised and was rooting for you sense ro8 ^_^
I am very happy that Jangbi won especially since he was in a really giant slump not so long ago. I had him on my anti team a couple of times I think. Congrats on breaking the kong but don't leave stork by himself
I think Jangbi storms was the first ever broodwar video that someone showed me, at some point around 2007 maybe? I can't really remember, but I do remember the video .
Congrats to Jangbi, I feel like he really deserved the win and his story is beyond belief.
The first game of BW I ever watched was last December's infamous Jangbi vs Zero game. Jangbi instanly became my favorite player. Even though I soon learned that he was in a slump, and that many thought he was past his prime, I believed he could win any game he was sent out for. It's great to see him, not simply, become a consistent player again, but rise to the very top.
I know its a standard saying in korea, but i am really glad that his hard hard work got payed off. I need to catch the vods cause i had to work, but knowing the outcome does not matter much if someone pulls off a comeback with carriesrs. I have to see it!!!
First he helped revive Protoss as one of the Dragons. Then over a few years he faded away into a slump, only to surge back this season with a ridiculous record.
A number of times within the OSL he was on the brink of elimination, too. Prelims was one. Killer going 3-0 and Jangbi having to win a tiebreaker to get out of his group in ro16 was another. Then he was a game down to Flash before winning the next two. And of course, to cap it off, the super epic game 5 that seemed impossible.
Either that or he's a saiyan and gets stronger every time he's close to death, haha.

Nothing against Fantasy, but it would have sucked majorly to get out of that massive slump, destroy Flash, then lose in the finals.
Heart was torn between the two the whole time though. With every game that Fantasy won, I wanted Jangbi to win, and with every game Jangbi won, I wanted Fantasy to come back.
How long has the BW scene been acknowledging the foreign scene in interviews and stuff? I know early on foreigners participated and what not, but it became spotty and virtually flatlined over time. So where do they get their foreign exposure?
They know of TeamLiquid over there. They really started to notice the foreign fans after lilsusie continued to do put together projects for the progamers. I'd guess it started in late 2009 and early 2010.
Thank you for translation. Jangbi i just knew you could win this OSL, it was meant to be so!We didn't see a single storm in the finals but thats okay, games 1 and 5 made up for this lack. Can't believe he actually thought about quitting, i mean every pro falls into slumps, and with his talent and dedication it would be the worst thing he'd do.Theres always way to come back and be on top/win, you just gotta believe and work hard as he said
I think Jangbi is wrong: He said that he made a comeback on game 5. I disagree. Fantasy has such terrible anti carrier micro that Jangbi was going to be ahead and always was ahead, as long as he had carriers alive.

There was a time where Jangbi had two carriers with one interceptor between them, on one and a half base (natural was being seiged and could only mine on like 4 patches and no gas), the siege line was also ranging his main where his tech was, there were turrets and mines blocking all the paths to the seige line, and Jangbi's plan to cut off reinforcements rather then break the siege failed. Jangbi was not behind, he was left for dead.

I love this response. Jangbi persevering through the rough times and showing that hard work pays off. Thanks for the translation Milkis, and thanks for the inspiring play Jangbi.
though I wish flash could win some more msl/osl's to shatter every record and be the best of all time... (if he isn't already) I think its time for a protoss bonjwa now :D

Yes, in this Reach Bnet attack, he was saying that Flash muta micro was better than any zerg in his team.

AGH I HATE this!!! Flash's turtling nonsense only came about recently, and that's because no one could beat him like that on the maps of that time. You use a winning strategy, and that's what Flash did.
But can ppl stop referring to Flash, AKA the ORIGINAL Cheddar Terran, as a turtle terran?!?! GARH

That's what happens when you practice 36 hours every day. I don't even know anyone who practices half as much as he does.
How did this become a conversation about flash?
I doubt Jangbi will win another SL in his carrer, although i see a few silvers incoming.
Jangbi is my favorite ESPORTS savior of all time. Game 5 was one of the most exciting games I haved watched in any sport, right up there with games such as USA vs. England in the World Cup last year and Nada vs. Puma in MLG Raleigh. I'm sure there are a good few that I can't think of off the top of my head if they happened too long ago.

I wonder how awesome set 2 would've been (even more awesome I guess) had he actually used storms.

Flash is moving so fast while practicing, time dilates and he gets over 24 effective hours in a day.

Well it isn't really about better games for me, it is the emotional attachment that I have to the games. The games that are the most exciting are ones where I REALLY want a certain player/team to win.
