Q: You have accomplished the legend of fall. How does it feel?
A: Preparing for the finals was really difficult. I gave up my Korean Thanksgiving vacation, and I started sleeping less and having less break time to practice. I wonder if I had ever practiced this much during my time as a progamer. It's really emotional right now to win it all after I was 2nd place so many times. I really don't know how to express my feelings right now.
Q: You played great games in Sets 1 and 5 using Carriers as the core of your army.
A: In set one, I thought he wouldn't be able to stop it even if he knew it was coming so I prepared a fast carrier build. In Set 5, I wanted to change my strategy depending on the location, and as long as the spawn wasn't 12 o clock, I was going to use Carriers.
Q: Do you think that you have left the Kong Line now?
A: Because I've only won once, it may be difficult to say that I've left the Kong line (laugh). If I won once and left the Kong line, then how sad would Stork hyung and fantasy be? I think I need to win one more time to properly leave the Kong line. I think this system is really fun.
Q: In Set 5, You have created an unbelievable come back victory. What was the momentum that turned the tides?
A: After my Stargates were destroyed, I played through the match quite behind. But I thought that if I could just collect carriers, I could definitely make a come back. Because I thought my opponent would go from being advantageous to being behind, I concentrated as much as I could. I countered into his main with Dragoons [DES interview cuts off here]
Q: This is your first victory, but you must have really complicated feelings about it.
A: Because it was my first victory, I really wanted to laugh. But I saw from the TV that my parents were crying so I felt emotional. I think people are weak in front of their parents' tears even if you're a man (laugh)
Q: You must have been really pressured because you've received so much attention before the finals because of the "Legend of Fall"
A: If I was the way I was before, then I would have felt burdened by it. But now that I've gotten older and gained experience, I actually learned how to enjoy receiving the spotlight. To be honest I had a lot of fun preparing for the match.
Q: If you had to say something to your foreign fans
A: I think through this victory, I think the foreign fans just now started to recognize my name. Please cheer for me more in the future.
Q: For a while, you gained the nickname "Pae-wang" and hit rock bottom.
A: To be honest when I was caught in the losing-streak swamp, I debated whether to go to Airforce Ace or not, and honestly I also thought about giving up becoming a progamer. But I saw a ray of light (laugh). Suddenly, I thought that I could go back up for some reason. What I felt was that people who always work hard will be rewarded one day, and I'm really satisfied that it happened exactly like that. There were times were it was so difficult I wanted to die, but because I was rewarded for my effort, I've felt a deeper happiness.
Q: Now that you've won once, you must have gotten more goals.
A: Isn't the season after you won really important? I want to be a player that can win two, three times. To be honest I also want to get a Golden Mouse (laugh)
Q: What were you most concerned about while practicing?
A: Since it was Korean Thanksgiving season there weren't many people who could help me practice. At the day of Korean Thanksgiving, there was just the puppy and me (laugh). But the next day my younger teammates came running back immediately and helped me practice. I need to treat them to something (laugh).
Q: Anything else you want to say?
A: I want to thank the people who always support Samsung Electronic Khan without holding anything back -- Mr Kwon Kang Hyung, Mr Lee Joo Yun, and Mr Park Jong In. And while practicing, January and coach Choi and all the players helped me as if they were the ones practicing, like Proleague Finals. Coach Choi especially, because his wife is pregnant, it must have been difficult for him to come help me during his vacation, but he helped me without missing a day. And I want to thank Light from Woongjin and the Airforce Ace players for also helping me practice.
And I really want to thank the fans from the bottom of my heart as they cheer for me even when I'm slumping or doing well.
And lastly, I want to thank my parents, my sister, my sister's boyfriend, my grandmother, my aunt in Daejun and Seoul, and my sister's college friends, and everyone who came to the scene of the finals and didn't hold themselves back cheering for me.
