It might happen eventually, but definitely not quickly enough to allow the players to keep their current lifestyle. You can't live off possible future prospects, it doesn't pay the rent, food etc. | ||

Internationally - people will look at this, and say "well shit if MBC couldn't afford to play as an ESPORTS only channel, what the fuck are we gonna do?" What MBC just proved to anyone who is actively seeking to become an ESPORT TV station is that it's not profitable, and I don't care if they are playing BW, SC2, fucking Hello Kitty Island Adventure - they will just see it as not viable. But it WAS profitable, at least for a given period of time. Anyways other than maybe Japan, China maybe... Sweden perhaps(?), one of the main reasons (that I think) why you could have an esports channel in the first place was because it was culturally accepted (to a point where you see a picture of Korean president in a gaming booth playing). At least there it seems to be a lot more acceptable there than lets say... here in the USA. I could be wrong, but you talk to 10 people at a Korean coffee shop, you'll probably have more people there (by like 1 or 3 people) be more cool with the idea of gaming as a sport than talking to 10 people at the Caribou here @ Fairfax Corner lawl. | ||
