The US does have libel laws. If you're a public figure, though, the chance of you winning one is almost nil.

- says that the guy who reported him is being two-faced since he also has insulted Bisu (notably PSing Bisu with a picture of a monkey with an enlarged nose)
we're going to need to see this ASAP

I'm really glad to hear Flash is against suing him. He's being more mature about it than the coach . It's not like it doesn't happen everyday to celebrities (if you will) anyway; the coach is overreacting.

this kid's recent(~10) tweets are very apologetic. just a fanboy who went too far, let him go and move on.

How can a "professional" sports team who threatens to sue someone who can still say "Please don't tell my parents" take themselves seriously? So much legal BS in BW.

The KT Coach is a little impulsive. Given time to reflect, he'll probably realise he was overreacting somewhat.
On a sidenote, Coach Lee tweets a bit too often. + Show Spoiler +Too much drama on his twitter.

"Culture Clash - ground for lawsuit. Please - accept the mystery"
My guess is progamers spend a lot of time online and it's not easy for them to read through all the hate that some people have against them. Better moderating is the key to keep certain people from the sites. Then again, the SC2 forums prove how hard it can be.

wow what a childish move by KT. Even if the talk got out of hand, its the forum mod's duty to take some measures, besides if someone posts it on the internets it has to be true right? omg this is so much bs, KT must better focus on sucking less in PL and not to protect their all so beloved flash from random dudes posting stuff about him.

Why cant we all just be friends
Happy to see coach defending the players though it seems exxagerated.

It must have been very serious threats posted to evoke those emotions. I agree you shouldn't sue people over just some childish fanboyism, but if that guy was seriously threatening Flash and his family, then he needs to be checked. There are some crazy people out there... sometimes these people need a good scare to show others you can't be a fucking idiot (for example stating you are going to rape someone's daughter or sister). Either they get scared as hell and never do it again, or if they really were crazy enough to do what they say, maybe they deserve to get sued.
Anyhow, it must be REALLY bad since there is a lot of high level BM there already.

wouldn't it be better if all the teams gathered and forced to close/regulate the entire site? From OP it seems no good can come up from it anyway..
- begs not to tell his parents who will be disappointed by him again
uh..makes me feel bad for him for some reason.

Flash: "WTF? This bastard. This is the most agitated I've been since I got 4pooled twice in a row. (Although I'm a little less agitated than back then)"
Reach: "Flash, chill out." Flash: "Hyung, despite what you may say, I'm going to sue. I can't stand being insulted like this!"
Shadowy figure: "Wait, Flash! Stop!" Flash: "?" Reach: "?"
FX: Dun-dun-dun Yellow: "Do you... even know what it means 'to be insulted'"? (TN: Yellow is the progamer that is made fun of the most in Korea for his 5 second-place finishes, and making fun of Yellow is a meme that is pervasive in the entire Korean internet community, even the non-Starcraft related parts)
Reach & Flash: "I can't help but be convinced!" Reach: "Jinho hyung..." Flash: "In front of him, I can't even begin to say the word 'sue'... T_T"
And that's why Flash didn't decide to sue the guy. All praise the benevolent God Young Ho!
END DC Inside is roughly the equal of Korea's 4chan, even though there are some very mature users on there as well. They often partake in things that no other country or culture would understand, such as waging war against other Korean websites (one called Humoruniv comes to mind) or trying to DDOS Japan's 2chan every March 1st, which is a national day in Korea that commemorates Korea's freedom movement against Japan under Japanese imperialist rule in the early 20th century. There have been countless cases of members on the site doing unimaginable things or being sued. I remember one incident where one user cut up the body of a cat, took a picture and put it online, then gave the rest of the users a puzzle to solve, saying that if they could solve it, he would spare another cat's life. Turns out he killed the cats after all. I don't understand people any more >_> Lolwat? 4chan seems like childplay compared to this. im gonna admit for some reason i wasnt surprised it was a bisu fan >.< dont hate bisu tho
The average 4chan poster in inoffensive but there are brutal threads there. Murderers have posted before and after killing.

I believe this is the very definition of frivolous lawsuit.

Sounds like a giant publicity stunt.

Wow flash is such a baller, always wanting the best for the good of esports.
But yeah, KT coach is such a jerk sometimes... with the suing.. and disgusting comments on Savior.

The truth is, Korea's internet scene (especially among younger people, which would encompass most of Starcraft fans) has really degenerated to a disgusting, almost sub-human level and certain measures do need to be taken to address it, at least in my opinion. It is LITERALLY a very common sight to see someone curse, say, every ten words. Imagine someone checking into a LR thread saying something like, + Show Spoiler +"Hey what's up f**kers, how's that f**got Flash doing in this game? WTF? He's losing against that piece of trash Best? Fuuuuuuck. LOLOL retire nao" It just doesn't happen at TL, thank god. It's really a sad sight to see. I'm fully backing KT on this one.

I don't know how to feel about this. It's so common that it's seems strange to take people at random and try to punish them, but at the same time I'd really like it to be less common People on the internet can be very cruel. In this case in involves money... It would hurt the team if bad rumours were spread about their star player. It's basically cyber-bullying someone you've never met.
|
On the plus side, it's pretty awesome how passionate people are about this game to this day. This is the silver lining that Flash is seeing, I imagine.
