If it has a reputation for being that insulting to players, why is this the first lawsuit against them? The level that is tolerated is a lot higher. I looked it up, and apparently there have been a few other cases. - a guy in 2005 was about to sued for pretending to be other users and flaming players, but he committed suicide before the suit - a guy posted that he was going to kidnap, rape and kill [B_Blade]Leader's daughter(probably not for real, but just to state how much he hated him), he read it, obviously got pissed off, and took legal action Holy hell, that's messed up.

So South Korea finally became a kespacracy. Glory to the mighty kespa. Maybe this way i will never be sued by them. :>

This whole BM thing in the SC community has gone way too far. Suing over something said in a forum? I hope Kobe doesn't sue me the next time I talk about how I hate the Lakers.

Holy shit. Just holy shit. That is so far over the line that it's unimaginable for me that a true fan of e-Sports could say such a thing.
I know that in any crowd there are bad apples, but the Korean ones seem to be on an entirely different level. I always felt that Korean society encouraged more mild, passive behavior, but I guess when they think they can hide behind the anonymity of the internet...

i hope they sue his ass. if only we could do that all over the world, the internet would be so much less trolly.

Uhh what the fuck. I'm sure all of that dude's friends think he's hilarious.

Would this type of thing be sueable in western countries?, cause korean laws tend to be rather strict (in a somewhat irrational way).

I think TL admins should do it for every troll on pro players like Idra etc...

America does not have libel laws, though inal. Maybe you can be sued in some other countries like the uk?

Wha? Of course the U.S. has libel laws. I took an entire class on it in college. The problem is that here Flash would be considered a public figure. And public figures have to prove what's called 'actual malice.' It's very difficult to legally prove that, although in this case, it seems more like harassment than libel.

This guy is giving me a bad name. I still believe Flash is the best player in the world currently and I have a lot of respect for Flash. But my wittle BeeSuit is so cute! I hope he and birdytoss will have a good match soon so Bisu can earn back his PvP title.

Ahh ok. Cool, still sounds impossible to get sued though.

Translation of Comic:
+ Show Spoiler +<Starcraft Cartoon: The Forgiveness of the God>
God sees the insults posted against him by a randon netizen...
Flash: "WTF? This bastard. This is the most agitated I've been since I got 4pooled twice in a row. (Although I'm a little less agitated than back then)"
Reach: "Flash, chill out." Flash: "Hyung, despite what you may say, I'm going to sue. I can't stand being insulted like this!"
Shadowy figure: "Wait, Flash! Stop!" Flash: "?" Reach: "?"
FX: Dun-dun-dun Yellow: "Do you... even know what it means 'to be insulted'"? (TN: Yellow is the progamer that is made fun of the most in Korea for his 5 second-place finishes, and making fun of Yellow is a meme that is pervasive in the entire Korean internet community, even the non-Starcraft related parts)
Reach & Flash: "I can't help but be convinced!" Reach: "Jinho hyung..." Flash: "In front of him, I can't even begin to say the word 'sue'... T_T"
And that's why Flash didn't decide to sue the guy. All praise the benevolent God Young Ho!
END
DC Inside is roughly the equal of Korea's 4chan, even though there are some very mature users on there as well. They often partake in things that no other country or culture would understand, such as waging war against other Korean websites (one called Humoruniv comes to mind) or trying to DDOS Japan's 2chan every March 1st, which is a national day in Korea that commemorates Korea's freedom movement against Japan under Japanese imperialist rule in the early 20th century. There have been countless cases of members on the site doing unimaginable things or being sued. I remember one incident where one user cut up the body of a cat, took a picture and put it online, then gave the rest of the users a puzzle to solve, saying that if they could solve it, he would spare another cat's life. Turns out he killed the cats after all.
I don't understand people any more >_>
