Blackman was known for his godlike macro and excellent preparation. When there was no replays he was designing his build with stopwatch to see exact timings. There were also rumors that he had special AI to practice because he didnt have internet connection. He was forced to ride 1h by a car to the nearest city with PC bang to play starcraft. When blizzard finally introduced replays Blackman always tried to hide his practice replays and every player on polish scene was searching for replays from official tournaments and showmatches. In early years of starcraft high APM wasnt so popular and many players considered it useles. But Blackman was one of the first players with 300APM because that suited his style. At WCG 2002 he beaten many players including korean progammer Essay aka Oddysay in bo1 on highly imbalanced map Hall of Valhalla playing macro style tvz on island map! Many experts think that he was able to beat Boxer in that final game but it was bo1 on imbalanced map LT and with close spots so it was hard for Blackman to show his full potential. In Losers Final against Yellow he had no chance because his ZvZ was always lacking. Players like HOT-Forever, Chrh, NaDa and their managers proposed him to stay in Seul after WCG and play in a proleague because he really impressed them. Blackman rejected this offer because he decided to study. In WCG Poland 2003 Blackman was even stronger than year earlier but he failed to qualify because of bo1, bad zvz and that one particular cheesy game: Many players blamed Macia for that rush because everyone knew that he had no chance in normal game, but he just played to win and its not his fault that Blackman didnt manage to defend. In that WCG finals Blackman would have great chance because only good korean was ogogo. Other notable players were Elky and Grrr who all were in korean pro teams and Assem, Nazgul or ret. But the dark horse of tournament was Fisheye[pg] who won with elky and Grrr and lost in the final. After that polish eliminations we didnt hear about blackman for a while. He began to study and had new duties. But he showed up once again in WCG Poland 2005. He was hiding on fn. I didnt remember full nick but it contained word "panzer". I was even in group with him in first round of online ellimination and my good friend was the first one who recognised he is real Blackman. Starcraft evolved a lot for these two years and Blackman wasnt that good anymore. His zvz was still lacking and terrans learned to counter his super heavy macro style with good micro and timing pushes. But still his legend let the entire polish scene hope that he could repeat his succes from 2002. Unfortunetly he couldn't. He was still the one that pwned later WCG Grand Final champion - Foru in a group stage on Azalea because in macro style zvp he was perfect as always and even korean pro couldnt compete with him. But in first game of playoffs he faced Androide - another foreign legend who also was able to compete with korean pros. Androide won that match 2-0 and lost to Foru in a final to achieve second place in that event - the best from all foreigners ex equo with Fisheye. After that tournament Blackman focused on studies in Warsaw University of Technology. There was live showmatch Blackman vs Raven in one of Warsaw PC bangs won by Raven. Maybe there are still replays from that event on netwars.pl. Blackman and Raven were also crushing 2v2 ladder pgt on fast nicks. From that point Blackman never recover his great skills from past years of dominance. He was struggling to adapt to new playstyle and didnt have that much time to practice. After mentioned above contest someone made large interview with blackman covering many interesting facts from his carrier. You can read from that interview which myths about Blackman was true. But it is in polish, i can find it and translate if you like. Now Blackman is still studying in Warsaw and he will probably never be a hardcore gamer esspecially in a new game which is sc2. And thats all i know, i hope you enjoyed my wall of text ![]()

Blackman was indeed known for his "godlike macro" Okay you say that to many good players, that they are a macro player or that they have a great macro. But Blackman .... was really outstanding! His macro was so great, that if you didn't pressure him he could see the whole map within a few minutes... and i really mean the WHOLE map, he spreaded his overlords like noone else and got map control super fast... I think his macro is still uncontested nowadays. If I had to compare his macro to ret's macro in sc2, I would definitely go for Blackman

Although I have to disagree that Fisheye was a dark horse at WCG2002, afair he beat Maynard and... someone else prior to the WCG. I cant remember, but I had 3 replays of him beating 3 top foreigners at the time (I guess that was around 1.08 with the SOA craft patch). He was still playing Terran though xD And thats all i know, i hope you enjoyed my wall of text ![]() Definitely. Thanks man ![]() €: oh, interviews, nice. Thank you, too

I do encourage you to watch the matches from wcg tho, if only for the awesome korn[pg] commentary... I think it's hard to say if he would still be good now, as the lvl of play was so low back then... Altho since most gosus from back then are still good now, I guess he should be as well.... Also as said before the AI thing is something that's prolly just bs (specially the way its mentioned in the wcg games hehe) ![]()

Also, AI thing is true to some degree. As far as I know he did not program any kind of advanced AI algorithms, he just used map editor and various triggers to mimic the behavior of a real player, and then practiced the hell out of it. Far as im concerned he never released the maps.
