I couldn't understand him, maybe my audio sux but all I could make out was "american school", and "starcraft champion giyom patry" and something about salary other than that, the movie was pretty cool

Grrrr... was one of them, too. He was the first one, too play it really as a pro gamer and he understood the game so fast than no one else. Boxer is already new generation compared to these and the rising star seems to sink, like grrrr... did 2 years ago. Nada and other great gamer are the new stars and for sure the best ones these days..

It is always inspiring to watch "underdogs" growing huge in any sport, probably dominating it, especially as a foreigner. I also would have been more of a fan than for any other korean progamer as it would have been against the odds for him to be the best (like grrrr... was before).

I just know you were one of the "greats" from the past and that you were in korea for a while. I made it a policy not to spread around replays of me winning. I guess I would say i've had some decent tournament placings, no real tournament wins. My tournament experience was rather lackluster but i was able to keep my face around for a while. I was able to obtain a paid sponsorship for a period of time in Korea until my sponsor went bankrupt. Dunno if that anwsers it. Probably not.

It's not my place to speak for Maynard, but almost all of the old-school foreigners regarded Maynard as THE best of the very old-school, as far as I understand. Grrrr..., Soso, Jolly, etc. all regarded him as a very skilled player and all learned a lot from him. There was a StarCraft.org feature up a few years ago with profiles on many old-school players, and almost everyone had Maynard as one of their most feared players, or most skilled. Whether he ended up as good as the pros or not, he was always very talented and one of the best of the old-school days.
