If it's really on 9/11, that would be about the same time I'd be in Shanghai for the world expo. If Stork is in it, I'd definitely drop by even if I need to reschedule some stuff. Otherwise, I'd go if it's convenient.

In order to expand to another market it will be nice (because we all know that now the things are getting rough in Korea because of Blizzard pressure), but it will be a very dumb move because Korean fans are going to get mad about it and you cant hurt your main market when theres a threat in your operation because of a new game (SC2) that is triyng to get your market flooding money. In conclusion: expanding BW proscene in China would be done in other way.

It's Blizzard's scheme to kill the BW scene:

I knew it! There had to be some reason why these players are going int'l!
Korean Air has been conspiring with Blizzard against KeSPA to kill off the BW scene! It makes perfect sense! =0

In all seriousness:
If China will have that many fans attending, Then they can really have a lot of future opportunities to keep the BW scene alive. Who knows, maybe they'll host the OSL finals in China every other year tourney or something?

Title changed with a [RUMOR] tag lol, I can see this happening, but I can imagine the Korean fans would be severely pissed off.

It's simply an unconfirmed rumor. The link on PlaySC has a one liner that says "I just received word that OSL finals will be in China. However, we should patiently await for an official announcement"

I don't know how much we can trust this guy, but it's unofficial and unconfirmed at the moment. Followed by tens of pages of spam and hype because people are going like AMG AMG REALLY SO COOL!

EDIT:
Latest news: In NeoTV's live broadcast of OSL just now, the commentor confirmed that NeoTV, together with OGN, will host the OSL final in Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai, China on Sep. 11, 2010. During the final, OGN and NeoTV will host a ceremony to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of WCG.

If this is true... lol I can feel the outrage already.

I really hope it's true since I'm living in China now - I'll definitely go to Korea one day anyway but I wouldn't mind a little OSL finals at home before that happens. :D

When people were leaving the stadium, OSL only allowed them to leave in 2 lines for the shuttle bus (or single line). This frustrated many fans who were stuck inside the stadium or on the line.

For people that were able to walk home or take a different way to get home... they were still only allowing people to leave through the shuttle bus line.

This seems really unlikely. My guess would be that somewhere along the line, someone accidentally said OSL instead of WCG and it got passed along.

This is like the NFL thinking about having a superbowl outside the US. Executives don't care about the fans they already have, just want new ones.

I can believe that it's possible some matches will be held in China, and I do think they'll be well attended.

But if it's really the finals that's being held out of country, it's a real slap in the face of the Korean fans.

China's esports potential is just huge, it takes some action and some luck to transform that potential into the real thing.

Also if you haven't noticed, the last OSL already used shanghai's oriental pearl tower in its opening

This seems a bit crazy? (if its true) Yeah China has a big market, but how big is SC still in China? Not to mention this completely takes away Koreans from watching the Grand Finals live, unless they decide to fly to China. This is a giant risk hoping that the Chinese market is more receptive than the Korean market, while at the same time hopefully not offending the Korean market. Very risky move IMO.

while nowhere conclusive, XD=Love aka Dashi is basically the biggest name in BW in China, and XiaoSe from NeoTV also said this I believe.

NeoTV and PLU are the two companies responsible for basically all the broadcasting of BW events in China between the two of them, and having their two functional leaders come and announce this news does lend it credibility.

If this were some random rumor post I wouldn't have given it a second thought, but the fact that these are the people who are saying it...

As an aside, the Ro36 opening had Effort standing on top of the Oriental Pearl tower in Shanghai lol.

In -other- unrelated (but perhaps actually related?) news, XiaoSe from NeoTV also said that after the OSL finals, OGN will announce a partnership with PLU/NeoTV to host a regular league that pits top Korean Courage finishers against Chinese players. That news kinda fizzled out and got overwhelmed by the OMG WTF SHANGHAI OSL news though, so I don't have much more on that.

Wow, that's horrible for all the Korean fans. It'd suck if the players would feel uncomfortable too considering they're in a different atmosphere.

Well, thats what happens when you get 30,000 to attend a final. I think there might be 300,000 attending this one rofl, with people riding on top of other ppl to watch.
