Add few people to the survivor list, and we have Final Destination

unless they give free tickets and lodging to korean fans...I don't see this happening.

Maybe the tournament is going to be on huge planes and it will travel around the world during the OSL finals? And fans watch on big screens in Korea?

I can actually see this happening.

Korean Air probably wants some attention from China (good for business)
OGN might want an expansion in China as well

Definitely not impossible. I'll watch that playsc thread and update with info if they come up

I think I recall Cambium doing some Mandarin -> English translations before on TL. I could be wrong though.

Wait, isn't written Chinese independant of Mandarin/Cantonese? (Aside from Taiwan?)

Not a big surprise to me though I doubt it as well. Some points for OSL final to be held in Shanghai:

1) Two Chinese media companies (PLU and NeoTV) officially obtained OSL broadcasting right. NeoTV is from Shanghai, and PLU is in a city close to Shanghai.

2) The STX week will run at the end of August in the Korean pavilion of Shanghai 2010 Expo. There will be 4 STX soul players (currently TossGirl and JulyZerg are confirmed) playing against the Chinese players (F91, Legend, Kurafi and Toodming) between Aug 25 and 29. (hosted by NeoTV)

Source: http://news.msn.co.kr/article/read.html?cate_code=3400&article_id=201008131342061014&pos=esports1
(hint: you may wanna use Google Translate)

3) See the crowds in Chengdu WCG 2009. You can imagine what would be in Shanghai.

Again, I am still highly suspicious.

I don't see why point 2) will matter.

As I've said, it'll be a massive, massive disservice to Korean fans. You think Chinese are going to care for two Koreans playing each other?

Either way, I read Cho Hyun Min's cyworld, and she posted a teaser about where the finals will be held. Someone asked

"You should host it outside the country this time. It'll be good for Korean Air promotion. How about somewhere like Beijing?"
Her reply: "What about the fans inside the country? ^^"

If OGN does this it'll be literally the worst PR move they have made, especially after the OSL final incident last season. I don't see this happening, especially with zero Korean sources even mentioning this.

Written Chinese has two forms: Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese, they are generally mutually intelligible.

While spoken Chinese like Mandarin, Cantonese, MinNanYu (Dialect mainly spoken by Taiwanese) are generally NOT mutually intelligible. Similarly for those hundreds of dialects from China.

I think I kind of understand what he is trying to say, which is that written chinese is always written the same despite the dialect spoken. The aside from Taiwan refers to the Taiwanese writing in traditional text instead of simplified which most of China uses now.

Also, I don't really find this believable. Maybe for the MSL if they had troubles with Gretech... =/

There are actually many Chinese fans of those Korean players. That's why they broadcast the OSL games. I agree with your point that OGN should care more about the Korean fans.

EDIT:
Latest news: In NeoTV's live broadcast of OSL just now, the commentor confirmed that NeoTV, together with OGN, will host the OSL final in Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai, China on Sep. 11, 2010. During the final, OGN and NeoTV will host a ceremony to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of WCG.

If this is true... lol I can feel the outrage already.
