Btw, am I the only person who actually LIKED Byzantium? Promotes harass play with its twists and turns. Promote smart play and timely engagements with high/low grounds all over the map. Plus, some of the most exciting PvTs ever played in recent memory are on that map. Jangbi vs Nada, Bisu vs Iris, Stork vs ForGG, to name a few. Of course having one map for too long's boring, and I'm glad they've changed it. But I've always found it one of the better maps. | ||

I liked it too and for the exact reasons stated, the PvT's on that map are awesome. Also the map is aesthetically pleasing. | ||

Carthage was trash, though. | ||

As for the new maps: Odd-Eye's going to be interesting. Zergs get their 3 gas but maybe not the fourth so easily. Protoss will have issues getting more than two bases against anybody. The map it reminds me most of as far as main base structure is Colosseum (only with a bigger main choke) but layout-wise it looks more like Tau Cross, which is all to the good. Actually it's really just weird, but it looks good. Predicting P >> T (mobility), Z >>> P (see HBR), and TvZ... I honestly don't know. The min-lines are safer than in some of the newer maps, but I feel like forcing ground attacks to go around the middle increases the Zerg advantage due to actually useful air units and general mobility. Ultimatum looks like an Andro-Zodiac mashup with an attempt to limit Zergs - probably a solid map but nothing spectacular. | ||

Ultimatem looks like Rush Hour and Andromeda put together, with island expos replacing the up hill expos + ones underneath. | ||
