link We never finished covering all the sections of the .chk, though. Most of the thread is based upon an even older secification of the .chk, but I don't have the link or the files anymore, but we were working on updating and refining the specs. So without that original information you might be lacking important information. You might get lucky and find some links or whatever there. And unless you get Suicidal Insanity to release the ISOM algorithm, you will be stuck with ugly squarish terrain (believe me, that algorithm is not one you can reconstruct just like that. The easiest solution would be disassembly). If square terrain is all you want, then random map generation will be similar to creating a bitmap that has different colors for cliffs, lowground, highground and so on. The section that stores the terrain basically is a list indices of 32x32 pixel blocks (= tiles). | ||

For a start, it would be nice to just generate melee maps programatically. Is there a list of tile names/pictures and their specific codes? | ||
