I use database on Ygosu.com with small corrections (Ygosu DB miscounted 3 games vs non-progamers on WCG 2008 Grand Final — 2 wins vs P and 1 win vs Z; also Ygosu DB has errors in maps data in 2007 Seoul IESF). My data coincide with the common Korean statistics, which is used in Korean Wikipedia and which is used on Korean TV.
wow I didn't know he had been such a beast for so long. I don't think I have viewed him as a top player for more then one and a half year. So close stats between Fantasy, Bisu, Flash and Stork.
I never noticed the "April jinx" before.. though to be fair, the 2008 one was just after he won the MSL, and the 2009 one was during his insane Batoo OSL finals with Fantasy, so I guess I can't criticize him too much

I think Rock also has a winning a winning record against Jaedong. (if that best of 5 was the only series they played at least). But yeah, that is a pretty impressive list regardless.

Bonjwa was a term coined around the time Savior activated God Mode and just dominated so thoroughly his reign was undisputed.
The reason Jaedong was never really considered Bonjwa is because Bisu/Flash can and have kept up with him in terms of skill. Bonjwas have no equals. It's not just about the stats.

After Savior got done wtfpwning everyone at the end of Shinhan 3, they decided to call him bonjwa, and also oov, NaDa, and Boxer too afterwards.
Their defining characteristic is that they dominated really hard, but most of them had sharp declines and usually sucked vs the bonjwa after them. Their dominance and fall were also usually directly linked to changes in the metagame that they brought about and consequently fell to.
Besides, we all know the 5th bonjwa is KeSPA. No pro-gamer stands a chance when they step into the ring with KeSPA - you know they're going to get dominated and abused before it even starts...

I mean, even six months ago we were debating whether Luxury (LOL) might have finally polished his ZvZ to be better than Jaedong's. We were wrong, of course, but when a player's signature matchup isn't secure, he just isn't a bonjwa.

Let me say this as succinctly as possible: it's not just about the stats.
When Savior beat Nada in Shinhan 3, you wouldn't have found a single real SC fan on the planet who wouldn't have admitted that Savior was bonjwa. Bonjwa doesn't mean you're a favorite (or statistically a favorite) against everyone - it means you are considered to be an entire tier above every other player in the world.
That's what Savior was - there was absolutely no dispute. This may come as a shock to people now, but Savior was a widely (not universally though) hated player when he dominated - the love you see for him now did not exist back then. Many people in the Korean community and on TL hated him because he beat their favorite player in every match that mattered. But everyone would admit that he was far and away the best player with no rival. You don't have to "prove" someone is a bonjwa - everyone just knows. It's as simple as that.

Bonjwa means EVERYONE agrees on it. Like, have you met someone that DOESNT believe savior wasnt a bonjwa?
Bonjwa refers to stats + the style of winning. There is a difference between Jaedong's style and savior's style of owning. And Bisu/Stork/Flash/sometimes fantasy can beat the snot out of Jaedong because they are almost equal/slightly more skilled than Jeadong at times.

Interesting breakdown. I thought it was interesting that he's actually got a pretty even record against other top level players (Stork, Bisu, Free, Flash). And man, has he played a LOT of games this year... so many leagues...
