@qrs: I think one detective detective is not enough if there more detectives report than there are really ingame. Also make sure the "few hours" are long enough. Not everybody is always active. I think 20-30 hours should be ok.

The role question is imo not that valuable compared to the "how many voted for" question. And they are only expended if a mafia-member claims to be detective, which effectively kills this mafia member. So they are not wasted.

Considering that there are a slew of convenient, painful ways to kill someone's neck on a broken window and then killing them on lawn darts (what the heck are those, anyways?), this pair speaks of having way too much time on their hands.

Fishball's paragraph seemed odd. Why is he looking for lawn darts, and why would he run back to his house to call instead of using a cell phone? Meh. So, Mr. Pink is quiet and brutal, considering he convinced Mr. Brown to beat Fishball to death instead of just shooting him. So, lawn darts are important, and Mr. Pink is quiet but mean.

There were quite some inactives last time around as well, and with a lot of people signing up mid-game they might have forgotten all about it (it has been 2-3 weeks already for some).

So I believe some sort of activity confirmation is necessary.

Probably in the form of sending out the roles, and if one does not confirm their acknowledgment of the role within 48 hrs they should be removed and the role given to someone else.

However it's even better to just send a PM to everyone before the game and only leave them in for the role distributions if they reply affirmatively.

Equally, if the mafia does not target the fake medic's assignment, it basically ensures the target's safety. So it's almost as having an extra medic around

Fake-claiming roles for mafia does not seem like a good strategy here.

Cheers Ace on mayor, and tough luck with the first lynch. You misinterpreted Chuiu's post a bit but that may be forgiven - you were in a haste and everyone was bugging you to carry out your plan. We make mistakes when being urged.

Here's Ace's thinking from my point of view of why he didn't lynch anyone "suspicious" or "over-active" - even Empy: this should be obvious. Active contributing people are helping and revealing themselves at the same time. If you add something to discuss, you're valuable. If you fake doing it, you may become suspicious later. No need to stab a good citizen taking your chances.
As for not lynching a lurker(who didn't post but only voted): Just look at what he said, guys! "If you're just a townie, you better not stir up confusion" that includes remaining silent, when you have nothing to say. It doesn't mean you're counterproductive or inactive, and even though this group has mafia members in fairly high %, if they didn't discuss activity internally, it's still not always worth it. Should Ace got it clear that inactives are getting removed / their roles redistributed, he would have lynched someone from this group, I'm sure. But he could have hit someone who just got a role of an inactive anyway. Same stab-in-the-dark chances.

Next random topic popping up: I think as Ace put it, we waited enough for a detective to speak up and prove his innocence. It might sound as a gamble if we believe they have done so, and didn't speak up according to plan so Ace is innocent - since there's always a chance they missed posts for 2 days straight, didn't agree with the plain due to plain selfishness or didn't know that they can use their role anytime. But as Ace said that, we're as good as dead in this case.

Another note worth mentioning about this topic, since the 2 days (I assume Chuiu meant game-days, not "real" days, he'll correct me if I'm wrong I guess) that he'll redistribute the blue roles off of inactive people. But that's not done yet! So if we PM our roles now to Ace, as a townie, out of our best interest - it might still cause problems! What if I was a mere townie, just PMed Ace, then a few hours later I would have to be like "oh, hehe X was inactive, I got his Jack role, now count me in as Jack." He could believe I'm not lying then it would be fine, or it could be just a mafia ploy for even more confusion.

Of course Ace's plan has holes, but why would he post every possible hole? It's enough to post holes that you know the solution for, so you can lure the mafia into your trap Let their heads ache and may all of them act out of desperation by the sound of the new plan - even if it's not an insta-win of course. Ace is 99% innocent because of:
1, the detective-plan. It was (hopefully) accepted by at least 1 detective to check him out, and if he's not legit ("What is Ace's original role?" question ) then speak up and sacrifice oneself.

I'd say we lynch Ghar - he pretty much disappeared from the thread anyway after his first few attempts at self-defense vs the Day 1 clue, I'd say he'd be the most certain hit. Ace knows a few more, but imo it's better that he saves his information - and if he's sure, and if he has any Jack / Vigilante that reported in, he can send them to do the killing. (if we need it - maybe we can save their power for later, and just go on by lynching day by day. Should we kill all the likely mafia canditates, we might run out of targets for the next lynch. That's a point to consider, even though more clues will surely pop up.)

Anyway, the reason I think the quotes I mentioned are probably clues is because they stand out from the rest of the storyline. Perhaps I see this dichotomy because I'm a writer, but the dialogue seems very stilted and unnatural, as if it was inserted into the story, instead of being written in along with everything else. If that's the case, then it was probably put in after a general outline of the day post had been fleshed out. The only thing that would be added at that point are the clues, which is why I feel that the dialogue contains the relevant information.

This theory is further supported by the fact that some of the dialogue is double-punctuated (IE: a quote ending with an exclamation, followed by an extraneous period). Perhaps Chuiu and Dapperdan just don't pay much attention to their grammar rules, but the other possible explanation for that is that the sentence was inserted in, and they forgot to delete the extra period.

I actually have a question for Ghar about his idea. How do you plan to have only one detective check the mayor's identity on the first day? Wouldn't having every detective check the mayor's role the first day effectively use half of the usable role checks immediately? I don't see how there can be any coordination until there is confirmation of everyone being a non-mafioso.

edit: to somuchbetter I believe the idea is for the detectives to role check the mayor before pming him. Thus if he is mafia then they would not pm him at all and would instead expose him to the town.

3-5. Imderek, evilmonkey, and Trancestorm all haven’t posted at all since the game started as far as I can tell. I hit the all button and used the search function but it wasn’t really all posts so I’m not sure if they have posted more recently.

6. AznValiance: No clues. His posts have varied in usefulness but he seems to be genuinely trying to help the town.

7. Alventenie: No clues. Has posted some very useful clue analysis and various other mafia related information. He has helped the town from what I have seen.

I'd like to say that I'm satisfied with Ace as our Mayor. Lynching an inactive player was certainly not a completely wrong decision. KorvspaD could be Enigma being fond of his friends (signature: "a friend with weed is a friend indeed..."). Medium clue.
BuGzIToOnI could be Enigma who loves his friends because of his signature. Weak clue.

Candidates for Taipan Snake:
str could be Taipan Snake grilling his prey with electrical power. Weak clue.
Zeks could be Taipan Snake. His signature reminds me of an unresponsible policeman abusing his power to kill a guy with a tazer (with electrical power). Medium clue.
HotZhot could be Taipan Snake, "frying" Empyrean with the great heat signaled by HotZhot's name. Weak clue.
Energies' name relates to the tazer gun. Medium to strong clue, but maybe too obvious.


Candidates for Cottonmouth:
RtS)Night[Mare could be Cottonmouth placing 5 nails, then stabbing him with 6 more. Nightmare was born on the 5th of June(6). Very weak clue, but maybe smart and obscure enough to be a strong clue? There are a couple more possible combinations of numbers in this paragraph, this was just the one i stumbled upon.
ulszz's signature indicates that he is a noob (at throwing nails) and needs reminding (by The Wolf), so he could be Cottonmouth. Medium clue.
Eti307's could be Cottonmouth. signature: "A person who never made a mistake (missing a lot of nail throws) never tried anyething new (trying to kill someone with nails)". Plus the numbers could point at his name: stabbing the victim with 1+6=7 nails, then throwing 3 more, 0 of which hit the target. Medium clue plus a weak one.
LostYourSkills could be Cottonmouth, having lost all his nail throwing skills and thus missing thrice. Medium clue.
suresh0t could be Cottonmouth using nails because he wields a hammer in his profile pic. who else would kill with nails? Strong clue.

Candidates for The Wolf:
SoMuchBetter because The Wolf does the nail throwing "so much better" than the other mafia. Medium clue.
suresh0t because The Wolf kills with one sure shot. Medium clue.
HotZhot for the same reason, HotShot being the same as a SureShot. Medium clue.
LostYourSkills' signature indicates that he is very skilled, like The Wolf. Medium clue.


Winston seems to be a vigilante, no need to investigate this.

The most obvious reason would be that the list contains mafias which he wanted to protect from lynching by telling the town that they were confirmed innocents. You see it worked. Plexa had figured out d.arkive as mafia (kudos to him!), but we couldn't lynch him once the forged list appeared. All of this wouldn't have been unearthed if d.arkive had not blown himself up, we would have continued to believe it blindly.
I understand that Ace is furious about inactives. Had the second real Jack reported to him, there would have been a conflict much earlier and all of this wouldn't have happened.
