Nice stuff - that a Fender Strat or a Squier? The truss hole makes me think Fender.
Anyways, I'm not a great riff-style player, but I did notice two things that might help (and just watching your vids has helped me a bit):
1) During Reptilia, you have your fret pinky WAY away from the fretboard. Now you played it pretty well, but I know one of my problems is that I tend to let my fretting fingers float astray and then I'm not catching stuff quick enough when I need them in riff intensive areas. Might make things a bit easier on you.
2) During Californication, you seemed a bit quick to pull your fingers off during that central riff and it sounded a bit choppy.
Other than that, great work man. Glad I caught these so I could pick some stuff up, since I don't get around to practicing as much as I'd like to anymore.

They sounded great, except for what vx70GTOJudgexv has already said. And I'm 100% sure it isn't a Squier, but I don't know USA or MEX made. Second, I think that your guitar is a little out of time in Californication. Might just be me though.

Its a 2003 american strat and a roland 30x cube, I had a squire when I first started out though, and honestly I think it was very good, especially for the price. i dont have experience with mexican strats, but from what I heard they can be just as good as american strats. its just that the quality control is inconsistent, so even if you look at the same model, some are very good guitars and some aren't
Thanks for the tips vx70GTOJudgexv and Archaic, the pinky thing is good advice and its definitely something that I will work on. I actually have a bad habit of not even using my pinky, unless the song absolutely requires it (like reptilia did), so its a pretty high priority thing for me to practice right now.
About the californication cover, I think there is something wrong with the way I editted the video. Obviously, I made mistakes and I could certainly improve the way I play it, but it sounded very different when I recorded it (at least in my memory). I'm guessing that I didn't sync the background music perfectly when I added it in windows movie maker. although granted, I'm not the best with rhythm, so its very possible that I was just off and didn't notice

Out of curiosity, what kind of practice routine/how much practice a day do you put in? I really am lost as to where to go with this. I know I need to put in a lot more time than I do (which is right now just about an hour or two of fuddling around with the same 8-10 cover songs because I haven't really developed a practice habit), but I'm interested in how to go about it, and from your videos, you seem to have found something successful.

it's better when you loosen up. Yeah loosen up more, get into it more, stop being mechanical too often
