Wow thanks asswipe. I hope you fucking burn in hell. I just took my road test again and guess what, failed again. As much as I'm pretty sure I would have passed with any other instructor last time, I can't say for sure. This time, however, I KNOW it wasn't my fault.
If you haven't read my other blog entry here, read it first.
This is how it goes. I go in for my road test again. I have the same asshole as before. I think "whatever, all I have to do is make sure I don't do what he calls rolling stops and I'm set." No, no, no. It doesn't go like that at all this time.
First thing's first. I ask him what he classifies as a rolling stop in relation to last time. He says I only need to come to a complete stop once, and stopping again would be pointless even if I inch up. Okay, I don't think I actually did any rolling stops last time, but that is in the past now.
I'm about 5 minutes in and everything is going fine. I approach a 4-way stop and there is one car there already, and another one, other than me, approaching as well. I come to a complete stop and wait for the first guy to go. After he goes I start going and the other fucking asshole approaching the intersection goes first and cuts me off. As he is doing this I'm just slamming my foot on the break and the instructor shouts "STOP." Okay, reasonable I guess. I mean, even with the right of way I'm obviously not going to keep going and hit him. So the asshole stops halfway through the intersection and apologizes and waves me though.
The rest of the test is irrelevant. I do really good basically. I get to the end and I'm waiting in the car with him for like 2 minutes of silence and he says "Once again, you didn't make it." Here I thought I just had a series of missed shoulder checks, wrong lane placement or something, but he says "You would have passed if it weren't for that 4-way stop." So I say "Excuse me, but I was 99% sure I had the right of way. I stopped before him. What exactly did I do wrong?"
"Well I had to shout out STOP."
"Yeah but I was just in the process of slamming on the breaks as you said it. I wasn't going to keep going and hit him."
"You should have yielded to him."
"Why??? I stopped first."
"Oh, well I didn't see that really. I wasn't looking at who stopped first. It's actually my fault for not paying attention."
(WELL THAT'S JUST FUCKING GREAT. WAY TO DO YOUR JOB ASSHOLE)

"I'm don't recall any of them. You said I was allowed to inch up without stopping again if I can't see right?"
"No, you have to stop again."

I hear a lot of stories like this. Considering all the bad drivers on the road, you'd think they might test on relevant characteristics rather than making things up.

Also, I don't know what the wait is like where you are but to book a road test is usually like 3 fucking months here. If you fail once you have to wait fucking forever. Unless you try the whole waiting for no-shows thing for hours, which I'm considering. Any advice?

The people on the road who will kill you aren't the people who take the right of way. The people who will kill you are the people who wave you on with a smile as you roll into oncoming traffic. You did the right thing. Just know incompetence is everywhere.

Yeah I would talk to his superior. Ask him to compare the pass rate for him versus the rest of the instructors. With that data it should be abundantly clear that he's not doing his job properly.

It's for my N. I'm sure the next one available isn't till the end of July now. My friend booked his weeks ago and he got July 3rd... I've never tried the waiting for no-shows thing.

That sounds aweful. Well you will pass eventually. And look at the brightside. In germany just the roadtest costs around 200€ (I guess sth like 250US$), let alone all the driving lessons you have to take mandatorily. Your road tests are really cheap over there

I hate these driving instructors and cops.
These two types of people think they're the "boss".
Plus, they work slow as hell.
My appointment for my driving test was 3PM.
I waited for at least 2 hours and I went around 5PM.
Then my person was just mean and at the end I failed because I was "too slow."
I did everything fine but I was going too slow.

I don't understand why passing you is so difficult. There are a ton of assholes on the road that do things that are actually dangerous like weaving continuously between lanes on the highway and cutting people off.
This guy sounds like a total douche and I can't believe you actually deigned to have him as your instructor again after he said you made 8 rolling stops last time or whatever.

Pretty much the same thing happened to me Groybc in my first driving test.
The tester shouted stop for no reason because I rolled forward 6 or so inches when a car was comming(obviously not going to fucking go..I was looking right at the car). I was actually just moving up slightly to see around this bush that was partially blocking the view of cars comming further down the road.
The instructor, being a paranoid fuck, freaks out and yells stop which is auto fail.
I passed with 100% the second try, but with a different tester.
The worst part of dealing with anything DMV is you can almost gurantee the employee will be stupid as shit(there are exceptions, but not many).

Maybe the guy is really worrysome and feels like he can't have it on his conscious to send you out with a driver's license knowing that if something happened to your or someone else because of it.

Basically this. I'm pretty sure this ICBC branch is the only place I can go for my license. I'm definitely going to request a different instructor next time and I bet you I'll pass easily.

I had an asshole my first time and failed, but the second time I had this really chill lady instructor and got like 100%. For my G, I just barely passed, but at least I got it in one shot.

Jesus, I feel so sorry for you. When I finished my driving test, the instructor listed off about 40 minor things I did wrong, and then passed me anyway.
edit: I wonder what the hell the pass rate is for that particular instructor. O.o Sounds fucking harsh.

most isntructors (atleast in Ontario) suck ballzzz. I know people that know people that have failed atleast 10 times before they got their liscence (even though they were doing everything perfectly).
Just request a different one next time, and go complain to the manager or what ever. The heads usually are sane (he will prolly get fired... imo he deserves it).

man, it all depends on who you have. I seriously thought I fucked up the road test for following reasons: 1.uphill parking stopped too far from curb; 2. took me several tries to adjust the car to get paralleling parking done right. 3. while I was checking left and right before a train track, the cars in front of me stopped suddenly, I had to slam on the breaks hard. At that point I thought I failed for sure. But when I pulled into the examination centre, the lady told me "congradulations, you passed; but it was close." I was like thank god, that was close shit. She said I need to pay more attention to surroundings and that was it. My driving school instructor booked the test for me and he knew her, I guess it was all worth the money I paid.

you know what, you will definitely pass the G test, driving on highway is alot easier than driving in city, no stop signs; no left right turns; just maintain constant speed and distance and you will pass. The good part about the G test is that every time you make a mistake it is 1 point off, instead of of 2 or 4 points during the g2 test. I lost like 28 points in 8 minutes of g2 driving, almost failed; unfuckingbelievable.

lol.. Same thing here. A friend of mine knew somebody in the DMV place. Just took the written test, got my picture taken, paid and got my license the next day. Do note though, even though I didn't take the driving test i'm not a shitty driver. :D
