Of all the art books I read, that was the only one that actually helped me improve in the right direction. Most books are very mechanic and teaches you tricks that can make you look good, but wont make you a real good artist, imo. also check http://www.youtube.com/user/EclecticAsylumArt You have a lot of potential. Keep it up. =)

You need to include shadows and highlights into your picture to make it not to look so flat and 2d. And his skin color is way off... Also, most manga pictures are inked digitally (or with digital pen), the edges that is. Otherwise the picture looks sketchy.

1 - learn a single bo = copying a known artist 2 - expand on that single bo = pay attention to detail/shapes/symmetrics/... to see what makes it great 3 - learn another bo and expand on that bo again. 4 - When you have practiced your bo = drawing the same style object over and over again, you should be ready to add something to that bo on your own = add some new details to enrich your drawings. 5 - When you have got a lot of experience you can start to build your own bo = form your own style and favourite objects, draw from your experience with previous bo and make this one your own. 6 - Who knows, you might even become a progamer = professional artist and revolutionize the way people play starcraft today = draw your style. (Or you can just become a macro beast ofc). Spend as much time as you would on starcraft and expect it to take as long to become good. (How long does it take to go from D-- to B-level?) Also a D player should not attempt a bisu-build or other high apm tricks. Focus on the fundamentals and macro (= practice your basics a lot), micro (= make super detailed drawings) comes later. Btw, is that in photoshop or did you draw that by hand? (if you are practicing on paper, plz stop immeadiatly and start on you computer)

Drawing by hand is more natural to me, and I scan what I draw and then color it and enhance it using photoshop.
