Personal Season 8 Review
Personally, I had a great season 8 - played more than I expected, had a ton of fun, and as always had some fun games and experiences with my team, unlike this. I finished up with a 165-261 record on mG.Pokebunny, leaving me at C with 4072 pts. My goal was to reach C this season, and I was very satisfied to accomplish it around the end of April, detailed here. Over the season, my best matchup was by far TvZ - also the most fun for me. IIRC since the race stats are gone I had about 50% TvZ winrate, 35%ish TvP, and around 20% TvT. Early on this season, I really despised Medusa, but it grew to be my most comfortable map - the only one I had solid builds for TvP and TvZ to consistently win. (TvT is autoloss on any map).
Personal Season 9 Preview
As always, I'm sad about the reset, but looking forward to the new season. I'm hoping for C+ by my birthday on August 5th (13 year old C+ Terran sound good anyone?), and 500 games total throughout the season. I think I can really improve a lot as I don't have school over these months. I'm really planning to improve my TvP and TvT - TvP has been an issue on maps where
- I can't Flash build
- Its not Medusa
I really have no solid build that works on any map TvP - my 5 fac timing pushes have been weak and other than 2 fac rushing I've had little success. My TvT is awful - I'm planning to learn some better TvT as I really am a terrible mess and nothing I do is right. Other than that just hoping for fun CWs/random stuff with team mG.
Random Thoughts
ICCup Admin Hate?
Lately there's been an influx of haters on "lazy, stupid ICCup admins". I think this is ridiculous. No one's stopping you from being an admin, so why not do it if you're so annoyed? It's really annoying how there have been dozens of threads and flame thrown around on the ICCup site. Someone proposed the idea of people donating through the site for a pool of money to pay a couple admins - I think this is a cool idea and the massive userbase may cover the cost entirely. While the admin service is far from perfect, its much better than your issues not even getting attention.
This Game is So Damn Hard
Lately I've really started realizing how hard it is to truly improve to a higher level in Starcraft. People all around me play for months and don't see any solid improvement - and it really starts to get to people after a while. I take more of a fun-before-improvement approach, because I highly doubt I'll get good enough to get any money out of Starcraft. Maybe SC2 but that's a whole nother story.
Beta Key Contests!
I'm really psyched for all this stuff. The cake contest is gonna be a ton of fun to see what people cook up. I'm planning to get my parents in on the cake-making, as my dad is a casual SC player (introduced me to SC) and my mom is great artistically etc, so I'm really hoping for a beta key here if I make a cake. The Guide contest is probably the least unique/creative - I don't think you can bullshit your way through with jokes on this one. I'm really gonna have to think of something unique - but it's hard because I simply don't know enough about anything to write a decent guide. I'm definitely gonna at least try.
I absolutely LOVE the idea of the IronMan tournaments. While they are certainly not the most "fair" method of distribution, they provide a great event for the community with a huge incentive to play. I'm definitely gonna play in a tourney, hopefully I can get some good luck and get at least a fair bit into the tourney.
Recent Progaming
I really haven't been watching it at all lately. I've been hearing about hot players, slumps, stats, game descriptions, power rank, everything but actually seeing the games. To me, I feel like progamer builds of late have been extremely complicated - I don't see a dead standard anymore. TvZ is the matchup I've been most confused by. The newschool TvZ builds, such as the valk->bio builds make no sense to me at all, yet they absolutely destroy zergs when done properly. I really need some sort of resource on these, but there simply isn't anything available. Maybe the Korean forums have some thoughts, but it seems like no one understands it but top-tier progamers.
TeamLiquid
I'm loving TL more than ever these days. With tons of articles, translations, and news posts coming out all the time, there's always something interesting to read. Even the general, blogs, and SC forums are pretty good-natured these days. Not to mention all the brilliant features - Fantasy, PowerRank, the Beta Contest, BlizzCon Liquibet - I never get bored here.

If you made it through, I applaud you, thanks for reading. Nothing really groundbreaking in here, just talking to the world a bit :3
