Roomie wasn't home, so I figured I could try and play Iccup today. Normally I can't because it lags and I'm on wireless. So I played about 12 or so games, mostly vs Zergs and Protosses. Fun games, a few screw ups vs C- players (who had reset).
Think I did about 40% 5pools lol. Only like 1 worked straight out to win the game and that was versus a complete noob.
Games are mostly on Gaia since its a MotW.
Anyways here are the reps, http://www.flyupload.com/?fid=580980888
Feel free to give any advice or whatever.
PS- If anyone wants to know my 5pool build it's like: + Show Spoiler + 1 drone, pool, drone, drone, drone-scout after 100 minerals saved, 3x2 lings, when eggs are at 80% make an extractor, build another drone, cancel extractor, lord. Then just take it from there. But I usually continue with drone pump and then expand asap.

Hey, it can help more than you think. After getting some help my 5 pool has improved drastically-- I decided to cut a few drones before the pool, and the initial rush is much stronger now.

I wonder, is there a way to incorporate speed into a 5 pool build? haha.

I'm sure you could not cancel the extractor and get the speed, but then the speed isn't gonna come fast enough anyways. And you would basically be committing all in. So you'd probably be better just doing 4pool to begin with since you get a lot more lings and faster.

If you're 5-pooling a Zerg, make sure to use your scout drone to build a sunken. Makes noobs go apeshit.
When I 5-pool I get my OL right after my 6 lings so if I want to follow up with more lings I can get them out sooner (based on how my opponent deals with initial lings), but if you have no intention of following with more lings I guess extractor trick is an economic-friendly alternative.

5pool is not much faster than 9pool and completely mess up your economy so it's pretty much all-in anyway...
Might as well go 4pool and send out a drone to scout after making 6 lings.

No, most of the games it just forces the enemy to pull entire econ out to stop it. And meanwhile I am making drones to recover. So it gives me an advantage, or at the very least we are even. The only game where I was completely fucked was when a protoss straight up made forge and 2 canons before scouting or anything. That's just unlucky.

I think it'd be easier just playing desti and going 2 hat hydra range rush every game but versus protoss that are lazy getting their forge down I guess it's good for a few easy wins.

Ye I guess u can do that vs a Terran that has walled in and versus a Zerg. lol

Shouldn't 5 pool be an all-in build? Since it's unlikely you will do enough damage to gain econ advantage without killing him...so you might as well keep pumping lings and even bring drones along to commit completely.
One more thing...I dont know if this works that much...but if I see their scout coming I like to send a drone to my nat to make it look like Im laying down a hatch...a lot of times people will try to deny you from building a hatchery and end up not scouting the 5 pool till its too late.

I was playing off-race last week to mix it up a bit and get some lulz while I am at it, I played some zvz too. One game, my oppo made 5 pool against me and built a sunken... in range of my sunken. That was great.
5 pool in zvz is pretty stupid, imo.. since mostly you will be able to build a sunken in time to defend it, unless it is a 3 or 4 player map and you did not find him on your first try.

1. naw, they pull 80% or more workers to defend. Allows you time to catch up with drone macro while also doing damage/controlling game.
2. I do that all the time. It never came up in any of these games though.

yea, even on BB 9 pool with sunken on 450 pool it'll be fast enough to stop the 5pool lings. So on a 128 map a 12 pool can probably stop it. I don't 5pool zerg, unless I know they are gonna 12 hatch. Otherwise just 9pool, its 100% better.

Play on Destination. Send an early drone to the mineral patch of the Protoss and do a 5 pool. If the 5 pool doesn't work in the front, use the drone that was mining minerals and run the zerglings through there

Why deliberately make yourself look bad?
