If you haven't tried it before you might want to account for burning too.

What type of people are we talking. 50/50 male/female? Some of those kids?
In general I'd say overbuy a little unless you really can't afford to in which case there isn't much point in discussing how much you should buy. One hambuger + one hotdog per person is a little skimpy since some might want more and you might have casualties as mentioned earlier.
One industrial sized bottle of ketchup should be sufficient, but having a backup wouldn't hurt. If you get a big container of mustard that should hold no problem. What size are the chip bags? Plates and cups are cheap if you shop around so get a ton and you can save the leftovers.

I don't know about Belarus...
But for purchasing stuff at its cheapest, it's best to go to wholesaler stores...the types of places that small restaurants and cafes would purchase their supplies from (for like cups, plates, utensils, etc).
For food, you'll just have to look out for sales at the grocers in your area. How much you get will depend on who's coming. If it's all guys, I'd say it's safe to go for two burgers and hot dogs per person. If it's all girls...one of each.
The best part is leftovers aren't too bad. That's just more food for yourself later. haha.
As for drinks and chips...you're going to need a lot more than five bags, and many, many bottles. Drinks go faster than food, generally. Snacks can be weird. Sometimes they'll die quick, sometimes people will barely eat them at all.

if u want to please all, it could be a good idea to get some turkey burgers or turkey dogs or both.
just for those who want that.
oh but that might not be cheapest. i really dunno about the prices of these things.
|
60 burgers(more probably), 40 hotdogs(??? who eats this shit anyway), 10 onions, at least 6 12 packs of soda, 5-10 bags of chips, whatever ketchup and mustard(they suck anyway) gogo overbuy, ( i think people like burgers alot more then hotdogs but i could be wrong)
|
if there are 45 people coming, then its safe to say you need 2 burgers and 2 hotdog per person, to make sure you don't leave anyone high and dry without the food they want. So thats 90 Burgers and 90 hotdogs. Also I didnt see it up there, but what about containers for the food? If you are BBQing 90 burgers, then you need a big container with tinfoil or a lid to keep the burgers warm. Otherwise half of them will be ice cold by the time you cook everything. Also if you wanted a really easy sidedish to make with the food, then salad is the way to go. It's super cheap to buy the stuff to make a really big salad, and it's great for a sidedish when you cant afford anything else thats fancy.

wait, are you serious? 5bags of chips? 10 is not even enough im sorry, but HOWEVER this depends on people. some people like chips, some dont. i would say a safe number is 13+bags.

you guys are way overestimating. 1 burger + 1 hotdog per person is plenty.
40 burgers + 5-10 veggie burgers 50 hotdogs 5 bags of chips is fine, but you could go up to 10 and be ok. you don't really need onions, most people would prefer lettuce/tomatoes anyway 1 large bottle of ketchup and mustard each. 1 bag of charcoal
cans are always easier than 2liter bottles but if you are going to go with the bottles, i would say its about 8-10 cups per bottle so judge accordingly.

If someone wants two of the same, they won't have that flexibility. If someone wants to eat a third item, there won't be any unless someone only eats one (which isn't much food at all). I think I agree that some of the suggestions might be a little overboard but I really think 1 burger and 1 hot dog is too little.

well they are males but they just ate lunch... so i figure 1 burger + 1 hot dog still stands...
also screw flexibility etc, when you're working on a limited budget you just tell people "hey you guys can take 1 burger and 1 hotdog kthx!" and no one will complain. if they are paying $$, it's a different story.

Yeah i agree with LID8. Maybe by a few extra for emergency but 1n1 should be good especially if you are on budget.
|
If I showed up I would expect 2 burgers. I dont care for hotdogs. Chips have expiration dates but I believe they are far in the future, but once you open them they will go stale in much less time then their expiration.
|
Already ate lunch. A burger should be sufficient for a snack. A burger and a hotdog is on the pretty safe side.
Make sure you have lighter fluid or a starter coal - you'll have a heck of a time starting your BBQ otherwise.
|
|
If you want everyone to be fed and happy 1 hotdog and 1 hamburger + 10 bags of chips would definitely not be enough.
I think its irrelevent that they aren't paying or anything, they'd still be content, maybe I just eat a lot but I'd still be hungry and I don't think the host particularly wants that.

Why are they all male ? Sports team?

but usually when invited to a BBQ people won't eat lunch so they can go gorge themselves on free food. 2 burgers & 1 hot dog per person is a much safer amount.
How big are the chip bags?
Edit: HAPPY BIRTH DAY MICROnesia!!!!

lol ....
Yes chips do have expiry dates, usually only last for a few months.

I agree... Sausage fest?

They aren't going to eat lunch before a BBQ, lol.
|
Yeah, If your inviting them to a BBQ at 3pm, there will be people who choose not to eat lunch and hold out till the BBQ. Also if it goes for more than a couple of hours (Which if your inviting 40 odd people over it most definitely will) youve gotta factor in that people need dinner.
As such, 1 hotdog and 1 burger per person is a little low. 2 Of each would be a good idea.
Chips do have expiry dates btw.
And one final thing, Unless theres a good reason why your buying all the food, just ask people to bring some BBQ stuff so you dont gotta pay as much.

.....TAKE SOME FUCKIN ASPARAGUS AND POTATOES(WRAPPED IN FOIL OF COURSE)....and make sure you have plenty of fire. I hate it when people(co-workers or my friends friends) invite me to go eat and they have the shittiest setup of making a cook-out. I know how to grill and when other people invite me to eat and they fail at it I wanna slit my throat at times. I would rather eat a cold sandwich b/c some people out there have no clue on how to cook outdoors.

One hotdog and one burger wouldn't do me, and I'm not exactly fat
|
One hotdog + One burger + all the beer I would bring for myself to drink would do me pretty good. 10 bags of chips is good like for real, 10 fucking bags bro, If you talking standard non-shrunken bags then its a good enough number to let everyone fight over.

man I eat like 3 burgers when I go to bbq!

Dude if I was one of the people coming, and I knew there's a barbecue soon, I would definitely not eat that big of a lunch. You might want to reconsider that they're eating lunch before they come.
