Back to Chapter One Back to Chapter Two
Chapter Three
You stopped trying in terms of opening the locked door, instead, you collapse the gun racks together to form a bridged ladder. You looked up, the air could be seen drifting out of the ventilation shafts. Slowly you climbed up, and grabbed a screw-driver you were going to install the fuel tanks. You unscrew the vent and head in. There's a slight draft, noticeable more from sight. You are now halfway into the shaft, and it branches to two directions. To the left, there are tiny smudges of red smear alike the smear you had seen earlier. To the right, this is where the air seem to be coming from.
A vague sound from the outside: barely audible. This shook the whole ventilation shaft; it wobbled left and right and then it suddenly stopped. The cold draft from the right seem to be no more, you cannot see it either.
You yawn: you're tired, exhausted; yet, the adrenaline is keeping you focused and awake. You wished for sleep but it is not possible.
You're at the split of the ventilation shaft, and still holding onto your screw-driver. This may be your only weapon against whatever is out there.
Poll: Get rid of the screw driver? (Vote): Keep it for safety measures (Vote): Dent a hole in the ventillation to see where you are at (Vote): Get rid of it
Looking ahead:
Poll: Where do you want to go? (Vote): Crawl to the left. (Vote): Crawl to the right. (Vote): Rest and sleep inside the vent. (Vote): Go back down and try to open the door.
Voting ends 1/31 9KST

To the left! let's find a body or something~
|
Sleeping in the vent sounds like a horrible idea. Let's do it.
|
Dent a hole. Crawl left, but if there's something below I'd crawl back or forward depending on what we saw.
|
WOOT
keep it, go left.
I'm just letting myself get carried away o.o
|
To the left. If there's a monster, let's fuck it up ASAP.

This is exactly what I was thinking.

WHERE YOU AT WHERE YOU AT

I can imagine sleeping in the vent being a waste of one "episode". What interesting could possibly happen?
And I thought we had a gun, I guess I didn't read clearly enough :[

lol @ people and their suicide.

hm, why arent people crawling to the right?!

continuing with the 'so insane it has to work' theory, crawling to the left is the only way to go!
shaking and blocking of the air indicates something is aware of your presence, and most importantly is acting from somewhere else other than the weapons room.
First we assume four things: being(s) exist. We lose nothing from this assumption, and gain an ability to form patterns, determine motives/intentions, and in general just be more safe being(s) are non omniscient: if they can see everything, you are completely at their mercy unless they happen to be incredibly stupid, incredibly weak, or not hostile being(s) are non omnipotent: If they are super powerful and hostile, no choice is a good choice. If for any reason the power/intelligence/data gathering abilities completely overwhelm our capacities to resist, in which case all choices are equal being(s) are hostile: we lose nothing, the actions so far indicate either reclusive/peaceful beings with lots of coincidences (the door just happens to lock, the vent just happens to shake etc) or more likely a hostile being or beings in pursuit. One must also wonder at the red smears, and most telling an unstocked weapons room. Why would there be bullet holes? Why would all the guns be missing? This indicates a conflict with two likely results. Acting on the premise that the enemy of my enemy is my friend, it is likely that at least one of the combatants is an ally, a chance raised by the missing guns and red liquid which indicate a human. A non humanoid creature may not be able to use/understand human firearms and may not bleed red blood. It seems most likely that a human took the guns, was injured and may be in hiding. In other words a potential ally. It should also be noted that in this case, it need not be a human vs alien conflict. It could very well be human vs human in which case the blood could lead you not to a human ally, but a human enemy. The date of the bullet holes/blood stains are important too. If they are say 30+ years old, this means that human vs human conflict is less likely to affect us and we are less likely to find an ally. If they are recent, then the chance of finding an ally are increased. Since old blood tends to oxidize (assuming both that its blood, and that the station is filled with a breathable environment) and turn black, I will assume that the blood/bullet holes are recent.
Assuming one creature: either you made noise getting in the vent and the creature reacted relatively quickly, or the creature anticipated you would take the vent (in which case its a good thing you took it now, since its your only method out, and if you'd waited you would literally be trapped in a room with a locked door and no weapons.
This means the creature is at the very least fast or smart, and may very well be both.
However this speaks of subtle manipulation. Whether thats because the creature does not know exactly where you are, or it knows where you are and is just trying to motivate you to act in a certain way (in which case, I recommend we decide what to do completely randomly).
If the creature is hostile (which should be assumed), then this is a good thing, since it means either the creature doesnt know exactly where you are (this means the creature is not omniscient/can't monitor the vents closely, but can potentially monitor all vent openings) or needs to manipulate you, which again, indicates that it is too weak to beat you with certainty in a head-on fight.
Combine the above assumption that the blood/bullet holes are recent with a vent shaking from the right and blood stains to the left. The best course of action seems to be to head left and find a potential ally, and move away from the part of the vent that changed (unless the creature is operating the vent remotely, it must be on that side)
Assuming Multiple Creatures:
you are surrounded. It seems to me that the best course is to continue to move forward with two priorities:
minimize detection close off back passages.
minimize detection: Since there are multiple creatures, you want to find a place where you can observe without being observed, and a place where many creatures are unlikely to be (for this reason a dark vent is better than a main hallway)
Close off back passages: If there are multiple enemies and they arent so powerful individually that resistance is futile, then the biggest risk is an ambush and surround. We've managed to almost guarantee (assuming the door cant easily be unlocked/unblocked and there are no creatures in the weapons room - justified on part II) that the area behind us is safe, we should be ok for now, but out immediate priority when we next have the chance is to block off the path we didnt take. Obviously this gives us fewer escape paths, but moving through the vents is so slow that any hurried escape involving them is almost certainly doomed anyways.
Note that multiple enemies decreases (vastly) the chance of finding a human ally
|
tl;dr: Go left, maybe we find a human ally
|
also sleeping in the vent is another so crazy it should work idea
but this is the future, so theres got to be a stimulant supply somewhere
|
Vents are the safest place to sleep.
|
Haha... yeah, I was thinking "Why sleep? I'm sure there's amphetamines on board somewhere."
I think there might be decent reasons for making noise. Say, throw the screwdriver down the vent to make as much noise as possible and listen to any noises that pop up in response. Denting a hole in the vent might actually have the same effect (depending on how much force is used), but it has a side effect of probably drawing more attention to that particular location.
Depending on where the sound came from (it isn't particularly clear), it kind of sounds like someone might have just fallen over unconscious/dead.

Crawl left obviously. Clearly the shaking is coming from an low level enemy that is placed there for the sole purpose to give you xp when you kill it and gold when you loot his corpse. Possible plot devices maybe introduced upon looting corpse so we get a better idea of what to do.
If it should injure you, THEN it would be a good time to sleep to recover hp and mana(energy/stamina?). If it kills you outright, reload, try something else.
Also keep the screwdriver as it is obviously intended as your crappy starting lvl 1 weapon.
protip: If the first enemy you meet is a racoon dog, stick your dick in it's mouth. Thats it's weak spot.
Good luck and godspeed.

*sigh* we're goign to die lame=[[[[

The right choice is clearly wrong.

man i love the theories. <3 lmao. so funny some of them.

Is this all planned out or are you just making it up as you go Raithed?
|

If the air from the right stopped, that means something happened to the right. Either something entered the vent, or something collapsed. But perhaps you want to know where the air is coming from?
I don't see why there would be a red smear to the left, yet the vent was screwed on. What does it mean?
|
it means happy birthday! and the vent opening was screwed on, nothing more.

Raithed i have a question: is there some logic involved in the game, i mean: Is there a hidden clue or a quest for items in the game? or we are just moving on mayority rule and theres no real logic but mass logic?

sleeping in the vent is the numero uno solution here, imo
|
voting ends soon, get to it! :D

votes done: will keep the screw driver and will be crawling to the left.
