my work colleague is selling his laptop to me, but i can't decide if it's worth it or not
12" Tablet PC AMD Turion (x2 i'm guessing) 2GB PC5400 RAM 160GB 5400rpm NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 802.11 n capable
he bought it at 1200 before tax, CAD, back in september this year, and is selling to me for 500.
the laptop has been sent to hp to have its HD replaced due to problems, and the warranty is unknown (he doesn't know lol)
so worth it or no?

Get a netbook for 400 bucks :/, but yeah that seems like a pretty good deal. The only real issue would be battery life/overheating.

generally the warranty voids if the laptop is resold, I think. I could be wrong. We can't really give you advice on whether it's a good deal unless we know what you want to do with it. Also, knowing the battery life would be useful in making a decision.

i dont think its worth it at all. I bought a laptop for $500 and heres the specs Dell Inspiron 1720 17" widescreen 2.0GHZ Intel Duo Core 2 2GB RAM 250 GB 5400rpm NVIDIA geforce 8600M GT
you should just keep looking around.
warranty doesnt expire if the laptop is sold.. u can go to hp and request for transfer ownership

u cant compare a tablet 12 inch notebook to a 17 dell to prices, usually the tablet will cost more
|
ah yea you're right.. i didnt see tablet. I read the title and it says Laptop opinions
|
hey but you know what... if i can get that 17 dell for 500, fuck the tablet lol
i don't think i've seen a laptop with that spec in cad... they tend to range in the 900-1000 area
|
:D anyway i would get it only if u really need it. Not sure if u trust him

try delloutlet.com. They have way better deals than ebay. Theyre refurbished systems, but you save a bunch of money and they look brand new. You can easily find a Inspiron 1525 for $400 or an Inspiron with 128mb or 256mb Geforce cards if you want to game with it for $500+
|
are you planning on gaming on your laptop?
if not dont get one with a video card it adds soooooooo much to the price
and that deal is alright I guess, not REALLY worth it considering it's used, you can buy something at least as good or better for the same price
|
What do you want it for? Because at 17 inches it's a monster and you'll probably end up not wanting to take it anywhere.
Plus it's got a nvidia video card so it sounds like its an aging gaming laptop which is worse than an actual gaming laptop cause it won't even play games anymore. I would probably not buy this because I just don't see a practical use for it
|
Don't get a laptop with a video card, don't game on a laptop.

lol i have a 17 right now, i know how it feels
that's the whole point of me going through the netbook phase
netbook ---(too small, atom too weak)---> 12-13" macbooks ---(ah fuck macs**)---> 15" core 2 duo (perrrfect)
but then again, if i get a 15", might as well get one with a good graphics card so i can play some epic games. but games are secondary. i need it mostly for school work, which consists of mainly programming.
no more 17" because too huge. i can't continue packing this up everyday.
** my prof for one course tailors all her shit material so that it only benefit mac users. ie: tutorial documents: "so you go click this button-that-only-exists-on-macs, and you do something-that-only-macs-can-do" etc etc so i hate macs now lol
and i guess no more tablet, because it's just to satisfy my hunger for gadgetry lol
i'll see if i can find a good deal like that of renegade_zerg.
thanks for inputs.
