The version Emerald 386 is pretty neat, hacked out so u can catch all pokemon w/o trading, which is insanely nice for a rom. I am currently just catching pokemons and lvling up, rock gym is alot harder than I imagined, wtf lvl 20 first gym haxor!!! edit. Seems it has a bug and you can't save near the end before you fight elite 4 and it crashes so I guess emerald for me. edit2. Not to spoil so much but the level of the first pokemon that the elite 4 sends in pokemon emerald 386 is level 78 lol edit3. I love the emulator so that training my pokemon is not so tiring. Just walk back and forth [and press space bar so its running @ 500%] and all the wild fights go by so fast. It still takes alot of time even doing that since the level of the trainers are so high in this 386 rom. | ||

For Electric, I'd go with a Treecko/Grovyle/Whatever Grass Pokemon. Brute force works too because they typically have low defense. | ||

There's a good site www.smogon.com which has an analysis of every fully evolved pokemon. The forums there is like the teamliquid equivalent of competitive pokemon. There's more to pokemon than the story mode, I find the story mode to be pathetically easy and boring =/ | ||

Anyways, just started it, a bit bumed that I can't choose which starter I want (WHERE IS MY CHARMANDER?!!!?!). So I did the next best thing and picked Squirtle, went for the first battle, and promptly got my ass handed to me by Treeco (sp?) and his absorb at lvl7 -_-. Got to lvl19 and 1 shoted all the gym pokemon with watergun. I'm using my usual lineup for this (1 water, 1 flying to counter rivale's grass, nothing else, final destination). I'll probably pick up an abra of something on the way. | ||

The elite 4's gonna be a hell of a place for EXP share training my final line up :D Anyways, just started it, a bit bumed that I can't choose which starter I want (WHERE IS MY CHARMANDER?!!!?!). So I did the next best thing and picked Squirtle, went for the first battle, and promptly got my ass handed to me by Treeco (sp?) and his absorb at lvl7 -_-. Got to lvl19 and 1 shoted all the gym pokemon with watergun. I'm using my usual lineup for this (1 water, 1 flying to counter rivale's grass, nothing else, final destination). I'll probably pick up an abra of something on the way. same thing happened to me had a lvl 9 squirtle vs his lvl 7 treecko and 2 potions and still go owned had to level up to like lvl 11 or 13 or something you can pick up ralts a tiny bit sooner, but abra can be found if you just go east from the city you are in and run around in the grass area between the city and the blocked off tunnel. unless you are many levels above it (or found a really fast status pokemon) you pretty much just have to throw poke/great balls first turn and hope for the best. also inside the cave you can find pichu, elekid and magby (which is really one of the first fire pokemon you can get your hands on, so consider keeping it) currently Im trying to get all the starters I currently have squirtle, bulbasaur, charmander, chikorita | ||
