So here's day 2's update! Day 1's valiant fighting culminated in this:
And many ultraballs later, this: + Show Spoiler +if you don't know what roar is, it makes you flee
For full account of the business (very exciting adventures too with live captoins) visit day 1: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=74984
I've gotten Suicune to sleep w/ 1hp when battling yet I still used like 30 balls, so by analogy, Raikou would be just as much as a bitch to catch. And if I can only throw maybe 2,3 balls at him per battle, it might be a good idea to just try to figure out exactly how Raikou runs around the map. Once I had that figured out,I can just battle him one after another.
edit: Just to get u guys up to date. I do not have a master ball(used on Entei), I do not want to use stat save cheat, and I do enjoy chasing Raikou all over the place (a more realistic feel, makes game fun. I intend to play the game as the designers intended). I've had Raikou to 1hp on false swipe, now only need to catch it.
|
Glitch Master-balls, thats all I did, and look how i turned out to be
|
Damn I don't think there is a parttern to this lol... I keep using fly to Mahogany town over and over and here's the trace....
|
holy shit.. isnt this like pokemon gold?
|
Wee!!
Aha! I bet he's gonna flee...
yepe it fled as usual
|
Yeah apparently I need meanlook and thundershock on the SAME pokemon... Raikou recovers from status ailments each new battle so I can't keep him thunderwaved for more than 1 battle which is useless!
Anyways I got him again
Ah fucker poped the ball and roared me.
|
Have you tried using a Fast Ball? I don't know if those help or not, but I caught a Suicune with only 2 lure balls (after false swipe and sleep)
|
i remember when silver came out ... i made an excel spreadsheet to determine their roaming pattern
it's nearly random -_-
|

I'm trying to see if my old Haunter is up for it now, he has a mean look and hypnosys so I think it's actually better as paralyze won't last till nxt battle...

On July 12 2008 03:22 paper wrote: i remember when silver came out ... i made an excel spreadsheet to determine their roaming pattern
it's nearly random -_- You did! That's very admirable. Any tips though?
Only pattern I thought about is this: If it's on route 43, head toward lake of rage or route 42, and vice versa. Never go toward it. Go to the route nxt to it maybe works.
|
On July 12 2008 03:22 paper wrote: i remember when silver came out ... i made an excel spreadsheet to determine their roaming pattern
it's nearly random -_- lol that was foolish. you know its random (or no chance in hell), when you turn on/off the game and its at a different location.
|
ya i just know that they go to a place very close to their last position every time you change 'maps'
and i made that spreadsheet for any any ANYYYYYYY hint haha
|
The fastest way to encounter Raikou is to be next to two routes or a city and a rout. Once you take a step to on side, they dog will move position. Once you take a step to the other side, it will move again. Continue doing this until both you and the dog are in the same route.
Isn't there like a pokemon not affected y roar? must suck not to have Poke Abilities, but its worth it.
|
^ Yeah that's bout the only trick I know too... So far if I can force him to go to lake of rage's route I can dart either lft or right and chances are I'll see it. I've met it like 10+ times on route 42 w/ this method but still no catch lol T_T
|
Alrite! the chances are as good as ever! SLEEP AND MEAN LOOKED!
Now time to throw mah ball(i'd have to wait a day for fast ball)!! HERE GOES!~!!
|
LOLOL it woke up and used quick attack ofc to no effect!! And I put him back to sleep again! gogo balls!
UGH! He won't get in dammit!
|
|
Oh shit, this was an epic tale of a boy and his pokemon.

THE SECRET:
Catch a Bellsprout, level it up, use Wrap on the Abra, pray.
|
To tally the things...
Total times encountered: 20+
Total ultra balls used: 40+
Total distance traveled: No clue, but enough to hatch 4 eggs I bet
Total max-repell used(it doesn't work, at least for me. I nvr ran into him on repel): 50 (lol what a waste)

Usually abra just teleports first thing :[
good idea thou if he doesn't teleport first thing ^^

You need to level up so your speed is higher, an alternative is to get a Pikachu in the first forest and use Thunder Wave. Pikachu is inherently fast and theres a 50%(?) chance that the Teleport will get denied.
Come to think of it, the Pikachu option is probably easier.

Stay tuned for tomorrow! I'll rest for now but Ho-Oh is tomrw
|
dude catching abra is easy
just throw a pokeball, you have like a half chance of catching it
weakening a level 12 isnt actually that important
|
That's true, you can just do the "hold A and B on the second shake", which actually seems to work in Pokemon Red/Blue, seeing I used it to catch full hp Mewtwo and Zapdos.
|
i dont know which game he's playing, i dont recognize these pokemons.. but back in the day i used to play blue/red/yellow on a PC emulator, and from what i remember, catching abra is no problem at all.. the difficult ones to catch were the legendy birds [zapdos, moltres and.. err.. the icy one :p] mewtwo wasn't difficult because i just threw the special ball at him at full HP and it's 100% catch [u get the special ball from prof oak at some point in the game, i cant remember really when.. but i obviously used on on mewtwo as he's the strongest one..]
|
ahh man pokemon red is the best game ever ^.^ kinda wanna go replay it now...
|
|
I love the fact that after you caught him, you named him "FRUSTRATION". LOL
|
holy shit, thats a lot of effort you put into that.. FRUSTRATION LOL
|
yay good job! ho-oh is easy to catch. just don't kill him.
|
There was a trick on gameboy, where i'd save in front of lugia, or ho-oh, then when i'd engage it, i'd see if its shiny, and i keep turning the thing back on and off, until a shiny ho-oh or lugia arrives.
|
How long does it take for a shinny one to appear?
|
its about a 1 in 8000 chance
|
There's a glitch in silver/crystal that you can abuse to duplicate items that pokemon are carrying. Haven't done it in forever, but it involves equipping, tranferring from one box to another and then turning off the the gameboy. The pokemon and the item should be duplicated, but I think that there's a chance that one of them will be severly glitched...
|
That glitch can/will reset your game lol.
But gj catching him without cheating. I used my masterball on Lugia, got Ho-Oh, and Suicine. Then I could never find Entei/Raikou ;;
I also got Red Gyrados!!!

odd i advocate cheating to get a shiny pokemon but don't advocate save stating before throwing a pokeball/masterball duping for raikou
maybe it's because it's not fun reloading 30trillion times but some people might find some fun in chasing raikou

i got a shiny bull once :3

|
man, i started playing it
space bar + save states = ez
and i was randomly roaming where i used to always find the three legendary runners ... and i ran into one like 10 minutes after i released them ; )!!
|
Holy fuck Tuna, you didn't mentioned that Emerald 386 is hard as living hell; all of the trainers and gym leaders have Pokemon twice the level they are in the original game -_-
|
So I started like 4 days ago, and pokemon has eaten my life again ;;
and now my team is composed of:
L 51 Suicune: Nevermeltice Surf, Rain Dance, Ice Beam, Mist (Soon to be Mirror Coat once I reach lvl 61)
L 49 Electabuzz: Light Screen, Thunderbolt, Ice Punch, Return (HAIRCUTS OMFG)
L 45 Houndoom: (Yes, I traded this from another version as a level 13ish Houndoor after the first gym) Strength, Faint Attack (Soon to be Crunch at level 52), Flamethrower, Double Team
L 54 Alakazam: (He is why I almost never play pokemon on a Rom.) Psychic, Recover, Reflect, Thunder Punch
L 52 Dragonair: Dragon Fang ExtremeSpeed, Agility, Thunder Wave, Dragon Breath
L 16 Skarmory: Fly, Cut, Sand-Attack, Peck
I'm in Kanto right now, and as of today, I have killed Entei, caught Suicune, and I have never seen Raikou.
|
You realize that in order to get Ho-oh, you have to catch all three dogs, you can't trade them in. You might be fucked for killing Entei :p
This is assuming you're playing crystal of course.
My current Pokemon Emerald 386 army:
iloveoov : lv29 Vigoroth Cut, Yawn, Facade, Slack Off
Anytime : lv30 Hariyama Strength, Fake Out, Vital Throw, Arm Thrust
Nal...rA (there was no underscore character): lv29 Kirlia Confusion, Calm Mind, Shock Wave, Psychic
Jaedong : lv29 Aron Facade, Take Down, Iron Tail, Metal Claw
Kwanro : lv31 Feraligatr Bite, Rain Dance, Rock Smash, Water Gun (I'm currently getting raped at the fire gym because water gun is the best fucking water move I have)
sAviOr : lv33 Quilava Flame Wheel, Quick Attack, Sunny Day, Ember
I've trained these fucks non-stop and the current gym leader's WEAKEST pokemon is a level 38 Magmar that has Overheat. Fuck my life.
|
I like him, so I will just trade him from Silver. I'll get my Lugia though! <3 Lugia.
On Ho-Oh, Recover, Sacred Fire, Earthquake, Thunderbolt is fucking impossible to stop. You have an insanely high spc atk, and almost no weaknesses. WTF?
Lugia goes well with Aeroblast, Earthquake, Curse, Recover, though not nearly as good as a sweeper as Ho-Oh.
Edit: gtfo that game. Come Crystal with us.
|
FUCKING OVERHEAT IS FUCKING IMBALANCED ADHSHFSGFSGKFGKAUFDSGFUKSGFUDSGFUKSGFDSFKSUGFKS
sorry, frustration kicking in.
|
Psychic lowers Special defense in your weird version right? Just combo that with Rain Dance, Surf?
I don't know why you're doubling up Ember + Flame Wheel, and Psychic + Confusion ;;
Or see if you can breed Destiny Bond lmao
|
I don't get Surf yet. It's why I'm pissed. I get it AFTER I BEAT THIS FUCKING GYM.
I haven't really found anything to replace Ember and Confusion with. I like Confusion, because it...confuses them :p
|
Play Rain Dance + water gun then.
I mean your Feraligatr looks like complete shit. Rock Smash? The fuck do you want that for? Teach on some useless shit pokemon, or a pokemon that gets STAB for it. But then again, Feraligatr has shit special stat, so you might have to rely on Physical (Still not an excuse to put a shit move like that on your pokemon!)
I also don't think she has a level 38 Magmar. Maybe the Magcargo?
If it is, you should ez this shit. It has 4x weakness to water. So even your shit stat could rape the thing. I'd be more scared of Torkoal.
|
Hmm, I can either level up my Lunatone and Rock Throw the fucker to death or use Numel + Magnitude. I'm thinking Numel would rock because of it's dual Fire/Ground which makes Overheat do 1/4 fucking damage.
|

Trust me, in this version she does have a level 38 Magmar, as well as a level 38 Ninetales, a level 40 Rapidash and a level 42 Torkoal.
I just put it on the Feraligatr because I needed a Rock Smash bitch to get through the route above Mauville. I don't intend on using it all the way anyways.
|
Play Rain Dance-Water Gun anyways. 4x weakness to ice makes your peashooter worth 40 power into a 80 mm 80 power cannon. Train up your Feraligatr to get its Spc Atk to a decent level though. (Not counting Rain Dance)
Numel-Magnitude sounds promising, though it relies a bit on luck. But watch out for that Torkoal. That thing is beastin'
Edit: Rock throw is horrible. I'd go fighting before I went to that.

Wait, where do you get a 4x weakness to Ice from? Aren't all of those Pokemon purely fire types?
I've also found a Geodude chillin' in my box (TheRocK of course), I could probably just power level him and go.
|
Oh fuck I confused Rock Throw with Rock Slide, which is actually good.

It was meant to be 2x weakness to water. tt But apparently, playing Rain Dance will also lower Overheat's power by half (I didn't know that ;, while raising your 2x water gun by 50%
Edit: If you can get Rock Slide, go for it.

Oh yeah right Rain Dance 1/2s fire and doubles Water, eeexcellent.
On a side note, Facade is a sick fucking move.
Woot, Nal..rA just evolved.
|
hAHAHAAHAH HIS FUCKING OVERHEAT MISSED LIKE 1000 TIMES SO I KICKED HIS SHIT INNN WOOOOO~
|
|
Well, that made it sound more attributed to luck than it really was, I realized the merits of a Graveler with Rollout, successive doubling damage hits pretty much took out the first three :p
|
In the meantime, thoughts on my pending evolution of Vigoroth? My Vigoroth is a beast already, but upon evolution to Slaking it'll have one of the highest Attacks in the game; of course, it will then only be able to attack once every two turns ;;
|
You can try
Slack Off Shadow Ball Earthquake Return, Facade, or Focus Punch
for Vigoroth right now as an aggressive moveset.
Bulk Up Slack Off Focus Punch, Facade, or Return Earthquake
for a more conservative one.
Once you get a Slaking, you might want:
Return/Focus Punch Shadow Ball Earthquake Bulk Up/Slack Off
For being aggressive.
Slack Off Shadow Ball Earthquake Bulk Up
For a more regulated one.
You may want to try Amnesia if you're afraid of special.
Note: I'm no good at this, I'm just theorycrafting.
|
Hahaha the Normal Gym was so easy in comparaison; Lairon cleaned out without any problems at all. The only gay part was the Leader's Slaking because he had 3 Hyper Potions, but I'd just drink a potion, he'd use Counter, it would fail, Iron Tail, he's loafing around, drink potion, Counter fails, repeat.
Too ez.
|

play pearl or diamond the cynthia battle music is tank :D, anyways do u eV train? lol

Na I don't bother EV training, I'm not that intense into it :p

In this emerald386 psychic doesn't do like a 50 damage special attack like in all other pokemoin games?
|
what monsters are best in crystal for all around ownage
the battle arena is kind of annoying how the AI can have up to, e.g., level 60 in the level 60 category, but if you have a level 60, it places you in the 70 category -_-

Psychic has base power 90 and a 10% (I think) chance of lowering opponents special defense.

tyranitar is pretty badass even tho he doesnt get focus punch in gen2, i like mewtwo because of sp attack, blissey (i think you can breed heal bell onto it), suicune but i dont really like the other two dogs, all the legendaries are pretty good and i think you can use them to battle battle tower on gameboy (cant battle in some places with legendaries on emerald)
u can do the mew glitch on red and trade him over to crystal, hes got pretty all round stats and can learn any TM/HM
