+ Show Spoiler +he used roar T_T Fuckkkkk!!! I thought only ENtei had roar T_T I knew Entei had roar so when I saw it I just masterballed it. I'm on Crystal version so it's easy to catch Suicune... Raikou is my last roaming legendary cats before I can get Ho-Oh. But since I saw it I can track it w/ pokedex and I'm just keeping it up. He has only 1 hp now from more encounters (2 bites from crobat (2 encounters), a lucky hypnosis from Haunter so I switched up parasect for 2 false swipes before it ran away(another lucky encounter)) Last time just now I tried to hyptnotize him so it'll be sleeping w/ 1hp and good for ball throwing, but no, it dodged it and ran away TT

Raikou is the only one on gold that i don't have and can catch, the others are all trade with item and no one i know has the game. i have him fake attacked tho, he has 1hp. just gotta find him again...

A tip:
Once you can track these legendary pokemons on ur pokedex, notice how when U go to the route they appear they are notmrally not there anymore? That's because the spawn for these pokemons shuffle whenever you change from one location to another.
Say you move from mt. Motar to route 42. Inside mt. Motar u check maybe it's at route 42, when u get to route 42 it would normally have gone to another place.
So what I'm doing now is shuffling between Mahagony town and Route 42 and each time I stand on Route 42. I hope it shows up on Route 42 the same time. Just like fishing lloll

Paper the method I use is to shuffle between route 42, Mahogany town, and route 43.
You can't chase it, you can only go to a route, check if it's there(u get lucky), and go grass diving.
Most of the time it won't, so I'd move from route 42 to town to route 43, check, no, route 43 to town to 42, check again.
The method i mentioned above doesn't work I just realized. If I just shuffle between two locations it'll just dart around there and never go near.

Here it is again! I'm tired of missing hypnotize (I was gonna use my parasect for spore which is 100% hit rate but parasect is too slow)

How long does it take to get an encounter with it? If you feel you can find him again in a timely fashion then hypnotize him, if not fuck that, throw the damn ultra ball
EDIT: Do you have a decent leveled fast pokemon with a paralyzing move? (an electric with thunderwave?) That would help too because any status effect adds to capture rate.

Yeah I'm gonna try to lvl up my dragonair again maybe so I can get a dragonite w/ paralizing move.
I deleted my thunderwave on dragonite already cuz well... ice beam is so much more awesome at raping lance haha.
Alrite Ima throw the damn ultra ball just for kick. I could definitely find him again, the encounter rate isn't too good but it is garenteed I think to find him once every 5 minutes, just tedius as hell.

Chang of plan.
I will make a new Dragonair or maybe possibly a Dragonite w/ enough speed and thunderwave to paralyze it first. How do you get a Dragonair you ask?
Step1:
At night time, go here from thron city:
Fish at the pond w/ super rod. To get to the pond, go far right while jumping down. Couple Magic Carps later...:

You can also pick up a 15 lvl Dratini for free from that sage in the Dragon Den. At least on the gameboy version of Crystal you can.

Just save state before you throw the Pokeball, reload the state if it misses, repeat.
Or just pump your Parasect up with some good ol' Carbos.

I'm surprised you haven't done the save state trick yet. It isn't really ethical if you want to be legit about everything, but it works.
EDIT: No, you can't keep him chain hypnotized iirc. I'd suggest switching out for a new hypnosis every 2-3 turns or so.

Fuck for some obscure reason after awhile Raikou mysteriously becomes non-paralyzed... I switched in another pokemon (since he can't escape, or so I think...)

After some research:
A Pokémon trapped by Mean Look, Spider Web or Block cannot switch until the Pokémon that used the move is defeated or switches. If a trapped Pokémon uses Baton Pass, the Pokémon brought out will be trapped instead.

You can use TGB Dual emulator which simulates a link cable and runs the rom separately on two different screens. I used it to dupe the Toxic TM by saving state, trading a Pokemon out who had Toxic attached (not learned, but was holding the item), reloading the state, trading it back, repeat.

When I saw Raiku I was thinking Raichu... I'm such an old school pokemon baller. When they released all the new ones it ruined it for me because I had the original 150 memorized and I didn't get how all these other pokemon could suddenly appear in the Ash Ketchum world. Like they shoudl've had a meteor hit earth or something to explain it but no.... randomly 100s of new pokemon magically appear? No that is BS, and even when I was 11 I couldn't get past that.

I definitely had similar thoughts, only a bit later.
I somewhat know the ones up to gold/silver (250ish I think), the ones after that started feel like pushing it. Especially since a lot of them feel just like old pokemon with new graphics and names.
Brings some memories, yeah. I wasted my master ball on a L40 ho-oh and didn't even know about these dogs back then Not to talk about the L70 lugia... (those two are the other way round in gold)
