Help me choose I'm planning on taking 3 of them (also formerly called SAT II) on June 7. Gotta register by May 6.
Looked at the colleges I'm planning on applying to, and only one of them requires a certain one (math II). All the others recommend 2 or 3 (any).
So I'm gonna take the math II SAT. I have 2 left. Which ones should I take?
To make a better decision: - I plan on going into prelaw/international relations - I have taken AP courses in English, Physics, World History, and US History, so I can do well on these subject tests -I'm a junior
Help me decide my fate!

I vote World History and US History, but maybe English, if you're confident with the pretests.~ But otherwise, just go with what you feel the most confident in. x3

which ones are you taking this year?
it helps to take them if they're fresh in your memory
|
english, physics, and us history are this year. world history was last year however, i still know a lot of world history cuz i actually enjoyed that class very much (great teacher), and have been reading my review book throughout this year
|
I took Biology, Math II, and English. In my opinion English is the easiest (though it is kind of a luck thing when it comes to how easy your reading samples are). I had a lot of friends who took Physics (some of who qualified for the US National Physics Olympiad) and they said it was not easy. So I'd probably skip out on that.
|
kind of off topic im in the 9th grade and i want to take the bio sat ii (im taking courses and such) my friends are taking it in june and i think that's too early my bio teacher told me to take it in junior year, but i've heard from alot of people that it's worse since you tend to forget everything useful from 9th grade bio
should i take june 7th or october?
sorry to op :[
|
You can always retake... x3
|
|
to pressure i took my test in october and only got a 700 so i think you should wait if you are taking ap bio or if you have to, take it in june because you will forgot many things over the summer unless you study during (and i hate to study during vacation, dunno about you)
to op, us history was pretty easy and for the 3rd one, i think world history would be the best
|
@pressure: no problem. June 7th seems like your best option. Why take it in October when you forget everything over the summer? Also, junior year is usually the busiest and hardest year in high school, so if you take it now, itll lighten your load in 11th grade.
so physics seems like a (not as good) choice. i think im going to go with math ii, english, and world history. although us vs world is still a question.

sorry to op :[ are you taking AP bio this year? if you are you should take it this year. i had bad timing on mine, so i couldn't really remember some of the stuff. i still managed to pull off a 730, but it was considerably more difficult than it should have been for me.
|
im in 9th grade bio im probably doing october since i just tried a diagnostic and like 5 of the terms never popped up in class or academy ever
|
Take U.S. and Math 2 for sure. They are not difficult. The rule of thumb for SAT 2s is basically if you've taken the AP class/test take the same SAT 2.
Math 2 has a ridiculous curve, I left like 4 blank and still got an 800. U.S. History isn't particularly hard. Take practice tests though. The science ones I've taken (bio and chem) are retardedly easy, especially chem. I can't speak for physics however.

USH = easy ! I heard physics is always hard, but it has a nice curve. Chem is easy, if you remember some chem. I took it after a year and a half since my last chemistry class, studied for about a few weeks, and got >750.

wtf why 8?! LOL
omg isn't 3 enough haha

Take at least US History, that was so easy I took Chem and Math as well, but those weren't anywhere near as easy.
Edit: Oh, and sparknotes has some pretty good guides for each subject test.
|
USHistory was easy
Also Math IIC
^^ GL~
|
lit, math, physics
er... actually, if you've taken physics c, then don't take physics, unless you want to study fluids, thermodynamics, optics, and modern physics ahead of time.
ush, chem, bio, i dunno
|
I just took them SAT IIs today.
Math II is an obvious choice; I heard US history is crazy crazy hard. I don't know you very well, but just making crack judgements - I'd go with Physics SAT II and Lit, but that's just me.
GL and study hard.

yes, I highly recommend sparknotes for just about every subject

US History wasn't THAT easy
I remember at least 3 questions being WTF and at least 6 I was unsure of.
Like, one of the questions was, "James Madison's support of large families and expansionism provided a solution to which of the following?"
I won't bother thinking out what the answers were - none of them made sense -_-

Take the physics and US History. If you studied for the AP US History thoroughly, the SAT II is basically the multiple choice section for it. And the Physics is a joke compared to the stuff you did for AP - just buy a study guide and run through it.
|
agreed, take physics and history you need to take 1 humanities and 1 science to be well balanced
|
I just took Physics and Math II on May 3rd. Both have insanely huge curves, guaranteed perfect 800's =.=;.
|
A lot of different opinions and experiences from different people; cool! Thanks for the input. I'll update with my scores when I get them.

and im thinking about taking SAT subject tests as well, im currently taking AP chem II , physics C then the reg. core classes
I think ima take
US HIST Math II Physics( debating this one - ~ 80 in physics C ) Definately chem :D
! and quick question if i made 3 on ap exam for ... 11th grade english; the rhetoric/ argument thing ... then what does that give me for SAT II .. english or writing
|
Also, i did not know there were Sparknotes for SAT subject tests :O

Sparknotes for SAT Subject Tests are very good. I took:
Korean with Listening Math II US History Physics
US History was definitely the hardest out of those, considering IB doesn't cover 20th century until senior year.
|
If it's still the same as when I took it, you can cancel a test score without anyone ever knowing the same day of the test. So if you do crappy you can just cancel it. 80% is Physics C easily covers the SAT II Physics though.
|
I took MathII C, Bio, and Us History
I recommend any of the subject tests if u have taken and done well on the AP (Bio, Chem, Physics, History, etc)
|
Not of them are particularly useful UNLESS the univs. you're applying to require them.
It's better to take IB or AP courses so you can get college credit from them (unless taking the SAT II let's you test out of something as well).

theres only one SAT II for english, and that's literature. You could have taken ap english language or ap english literature. If you took ap eng lit, then obviously you'd do better on the english subject test. I took ap eng language in 11th grade, but took the eng lit subject test at the end of my junior year, so I didn't do as well. That was sort of a dumb choice.
seems like the ap english course you took was ap eng language. there's no corresponding subject test. and the writing (essay) and critical reading portions of the regular SAT don't test the same thigns as the ap eng language exam.

How was Math II ? Similar to SAT math section? ACT math section? If there's no calculus i'm golden ( currently bombing my calculus tests lmao T_T making a C in the class )

cancel a test score the same day.... So if you think you did horrible you cancel... Alright! Would be kinda funny if you made a decent score and canceled though!
Thanks for the advice everyone! When do u guys recommend i take these SAT subject tests? I could take one in November , although i think that ones too late for my college application.... [ I'm a senior. ]
