My statistic project was assigned to me over the winter break... and as usual I left it at the last minute (today). Anyway the project was to design an observational or experimental graph. I chose to do if playing the piano extends your finger.
If you guys would like to give input that would be so nice. Just give me your gender, age, length of playing the piano ( 1 year, 2 year, etc. If you've stopped playing right now just say how long you've played before. I doubt your finger shrinks because you've stopped playing ), and length of index finger + length from the bottom of your hand (around your pulse) to index finger in cm, and your credit card number. Thanks
joking about the last one

Gender: Male Age: 16 Piano Years: 3 Length of Index: 7.8cm Bottom hand to index: 9.8 cm ya.. my hands are small

hmm i guess my palms are big relative to the length of my fingers...?

Ahaha I just found out the project is due next week, ty for the input I'll save for the day before the project is due xD

You're gonna need people who haven't played as well won't you?
gender: male age: 20 piano: 0 years length of index: 6.7cm bottom of hand to index: 10.0cm

Is it possible that people with long fingers are more likely to play the piano for a longer period of time? All you can show (if you get any difference) is that there is a correlation between piano playing and finger length, you have no evidence that piano playing is the cause of finger length.
Gender: Male Age: 18 Piano: 1 year (a long time ago though, lol) Length of index: 7.5 Bottom of hand to index: 11 cm

Gender: Male Age: 16 Piano Years: 10 Length of Index: 8 cm Bottom hand to index: 12 cm
be careful of lurking variables (genetic disposition and stuff) for example, i'm short, but my hands are large relative to my size
Edit: when we first started talking about lurking variables in stats my first thought was OMG LURKER

what about people who've played and stopped playing piano but played other instruments/? now ur screwed

yeah, be careful when analysing statistics... So often on television where they present surveys like this and jump to the most incredible conclusions...
If you happen to find a correlation between long fingers and playing piano for long (which you probably will if you get good statistics), then you CANNOT draw the conclusion that you get longer fingers by playing the piano!! I hope you did not think that. I'll glady explain why if you don't understand.
