I think I'm beginning to have a better understanding for why I'm having the problems mentioned in my previous entry. When I play matches, I basically have a specific build memorized depending on the match up and map, and I vary it as the game goes on in response to what my opponent does.
For about a year it satisfied me to try and get as good at this as I can. Lately, I try to make the games interesting instead of the same 2 gate range goon or w/e every single game. I've tried doing surprise reaver, surprise dt, stove, you name it, I've been trying it.
I've failed at pretty much every non-typical play I've tried in the last month. Usually after the game, I think about it and realize why the way I tried to do it was off, and I definitely deserved the loss where I got it. So my first response is to go look up the surprise strategy I tried to do. Of course, every detail is outlined from the build order to how to react to your opponents different builds/scouting.
This isn't fun. If I manage to defeat my opponent with a cheesy build someone else made, I don't feel satisfied with the win, and I probably pissed my opponent off to boot. What I really would like is to be able to be spontaneous about deviations from standard play. This is where I run into problems. Pretty much any time I try to do anything that isn't pre-scripted, it's auto-gg. I just don't have enough experience, and for some other reasons am not good at that. This has made starcraft 1:1 become incredibly boring at times. I want to be able to vary my play more, and until I can, I'm going to continue to be dissatisfied with the game.

Right when I'm contemplating throwing my game in the garbage, you bring up an unrelated even that nearly made me throw it in the garbage last time?

I think you would be more satisfied with playing Starcraft if you had mad sex with Nal_rA. I think that will solve anything or play 20 games a week. Choose the one that is easier for you.
Hint: I'd pick the Nal_rA one.
Hint 2: Micro, don't quit SC. Clan SCC needs you. <3<3<3
