Here at Proxy Tempest EU we run two types of events. The Proxy Tempest EU Open happens twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays. This event offers a $25 dollar prize pool giving $15 to the winner and 10$ to the runner up. Our other event is the Sunday Heroes Open, which runs every second Sunday and offers a bigger prize pool. The total prize pool is $100 with $60 going to the winner, $20 to the runner up and $10 to the third and fourth finishers. Both prize pools can be increased through donations to our matcherino pages for the various events.

While Proxy Tempest EU has only been running for three short weeks, a lot has already happened. So far this year, we have hosted eleven EU events, eight being normal opens and the others being the Sunday Heroes which have a greater prize. During these eleven events, a Terran has won six while zerg have four winners and protoss have a lonely winner.

In our most recent Sunday Heroes Open, there was an irregular occurrence. Not only was it the first protoss winner of the year for PTEU but also the first time that there was a protoss finalist, and it just happened to be that both finalists were protoss. Both Hellraiser and Skillous fought valiantly during the entire tournament, especially in the finals, displaying an incredible array of strategies. Ultimately, Skillous was able to narrowly edge out Hellraiser in a close 3-2 Bo5 final.

With patch 4.0 having recently been in effect since the first PTEU event this, it has been interesting to watch the evolution of various strategies in the different matchups. The most recent changes to the stalker, raven and hydra have also forced players to adapt once again, showing the constant progression in StarCraft 2.

One of the players to always watch in our events is the American zerg from Dust Gaming, John ‘starkiller’ Puchalski. Starkiller is a regular participant in PTEU events as well as is always a contender to win. Already this year starkiller has managed to win two PTEU events in quite convincing fashion. What makes starkiller very interesting to watch as well as very difficult to play against is his ‘out of meta’ strategies that he uses. While starkiller may have a similar composition to what other zergs use, the way in which he gets to that composition is entirely different. Playing against starkiller is like picking candy randomly out of a bag because you never know what you are going to get.

One of the rising online stars of 2018 is another American zerg. Corey ‘Ukko’ Meritt has impressed many people thus far. Representing Revolution Gaming, Ukko has quickly risen from being a mere participant in events to a genuine contender. So far he is yet to garner on online tournament victory, however he keeps on making deep runs and one such tournament he narrowly lost out 2-1 to the polish terran souL in the finals. With souL being one of the top foreign terrans at the moment taking a map off him is incredibly impressive.

And that leads in to another consistent participant of the EU events. Piotr ‘souL’ Walukiewicz, a Polish terran player, part of OSC Elite, has won the most PTEU titles this year gathering four wins. Thus far souL has made the final of our events six times winning four times. For all you terrans out there looking to find a top terran to learn from, souL is definitely one of them. For the most part souL plays the cookie cutter standards for each matchup whether it be cheese or macro as well as his execution of the builds is seamless.

All in all Proxy Tempest EU has seen a wide range of players from different races and countries, but yet there is still a lot more to come here at Proxy Tempest EU. We hope to see you twitch chat gms in our chat whenever events happen as well as even playing in our events. Keep in mind players of all skill levels are welcome and we encourage you to come participate have fun while playing against some of the top StarCraft 2 players.
