I came across it just a little over 2 weeks ago, and have been hooked, laughing my ass off here, tipping my hat to quality delivery of performance there, wondering how the hell things come together so ridiculously well, ever fucking since. If nothing is going on right at that moment, there's always clips, and the viewer community is awesome in keeping them coming, with the supply of material worthy of being clipped seeming inexhaustible.
The dedicated crowd of streamers and their characters, congregating in the persistent MMO virtual city, offer a multitude of vantage points. Here are some of my favorites.
+ Show Spoiler [Lang Buddha] +
Meet Lang, and his "action figure" collection.
Buddha is a member of an infamous, ever so often criminal posse, called the + Show Spoiler [Leanbois] +
"Lean with me"
Here's fellow streamer PmsProxy, finding out about her character's -- the EMS Katie's -- car getting in the line of fire. There's a + Show Spoiler [rich story] +
Buddha and his friend Tony Corleone started towing vehicles, and wound up attempting to tow her's, claiming it was parked illegally. After a dispute involving law enforcement, they had to abandon their course of action, but later on went back to try to take it anyway. This sums up what happened nicely. Pretty soon the cops were questioning Tony, so guess what he told them =). A blatant lie, and in order to enforce it Buddha had the inspiration and was quick on his feet to do the deed.
A further-back story scene has Tony and Buddha, following Buddha's reluctance to do the job legit, coming up with the idea to steal cars, leave them behind and then tow them after having been greenlighted by the police to do so, thus effectively, the way Buddha eloquently put it, fakking with the PD and getting paid for it.

At one point in time the Leanbois where running the city, but then something happened involving the frowned-upon practice of meta-ing, meaning acquiring and abusing information which a character in question would have no way of possessing, and Buddha and a couple of other members acquired a debt to the state that now runs over the 500k mark. Consequently Buddha has been spotted even begging, challenging ppl to hit him with a quarter.
An officer got shot during a bank robbery that Buddha was an accomplice to, and fell into a coma. If he dies, that means Buddha could get sentenced with the death penalty, an outcome getting likelier by the fact that Trooper Doyle was a close friend of Eli Tompson, the guy on the Leanbois poster, and feared nemesis to all criminals.
The future is as uncertain as ever, and yet, despite having to lay low for a while, Buddha always finds a way to stay busy, and time to relax.
+ Show Spoiler [Eli Thompson] +
gets outmaneuvered by Buddha
Here we have the single most prominent figure within the police force. According to him law is spelled E L fucking I, and he must know since, relative to Buddha, he's representing the core of the opposite side of it. Occasional as well as professional violent criminals are purring like pussy cats after he's done with them, as none can withstand the hypnotic effect of his explosive gravitas and confidence-sabotaging diction.
Proxy did a crowdsourcing stream event for Eli to start streaming, and apparently raised 13k dollars at one point. I doubt anyone regretted his decision to donate upon seeing this force of nature in action.

He and Proxy's Katie Rage have been flirting for a while, and now, finally, after getting Mac jealous by flirting with the limo driver (who they tried to hitch with another female character who claimed to have been rufied by him, so needless to say it didn't work out), and giving him a huge tip , Katie went for the jugular and they got together, with the RP of their relationship culminating in a pretty fucking amazing way.

Epilogue
Part Two: https://thefamilyrp.com > Home > General > General Discussion > Black Market
The idea, in a nutshell, is that it would be cool to see a shadow currency being implemented, and a black market set up to service and mediate roleplayers who want to either create custom plots, or play a part in that of others; for the sake of facilitating creativity, ease of communication and compromise negotiation.
Let's say TheBuddha3 comes up with this idea of becoming a salacious cult leader, alright? So he can, among other things, satisfy his passion of having sex with beautiful women, effectively minimizing the risk of getting turned down and start crying like a baby. I'm going to go all around the world with this, before arriving at the crux, but it needs to happen to express the complexity of what I feel like is optimal.
Meanwhile, anthonyz_ gets a vision of connecting the events happening on the server to GTA lore, in this case being a founding member of the criminal syndicate most prominent in GTA2, known as the Zaibatsu Corporation, but has no idea how to translate that achievement into the RP context required to get there. Seemingly unrelated to that, a bunch of clown and mime characters pop up on the server, seemingly all secrets of prominent figures are being confessed to Zoey the therapist, and people would like to act out their philosophic contemplation.. I mean what are they supposed to be thinking about whenever they say "I need to meditate real quick", if not + Show Spoiler [waking-life-like] +
Our critique began as all critiques begin: with doubt. Doubt became our narrative. Ours was a quest for a new story, our own. And we grasped toward this new history driven by the suspicion that ordinary language couldn't tell it. Our past appeared frozen in the distance, and our every gesture and accent signified the negation of the old world and the reach for a new one. The way we lived created a new situation, one of exuberance and friendship, that of a subversive microsociety, in the heart of a society which ignored it. Art was not the goal but the occasion and the method for locating our specific rhythm and buried possibilities of our time. The discovery of a true communication was what it was about, or at least the quest for such a communication. The adventure of finding it and losing it. We the unappeased, the unaccepting continued looking, filling in the silences with our own wishes, fears and fantasies. Driven forward by the fact that no matter how empty the world seemed, no matter how degraded and used up the world appeared to us, we knew that anything was still possible. And, given the right circumstances, a new world was just as likely as an old one.
To top it off, some unknown person (yours truly) says he'd willingly put up with the work of bookkeeping mafia games, designed to work hand in hand and making use of the twitch platform. These would require but a small percentage of cognitive attention from the streamers who are playing in it / hosting it, while doing their roleplaying simultaneously. Signing up for a game would require a buy-in of a shadow currency known as ®espect, but the rewards for performing well would outweigh the risk of losing time and the buy-in, whereas hosting a game would equate a direct profit. I feel like I might be losing readers at this point, so I'll continue elaborating while making use of a first-person noir-type narration, ficticiously portraying a streamer who encounters the familyRP scene and gets drawn by (this) the extension of service I'm hypothetically going to inspire the implementation of:
I go by the name Lor3ant. I've been streaming for a few months prior to becoming a whitelisted member of the TheFamilyRP community, but my content's substance ripened only thereafter, climactically culminating with the use of the feature constellation known as 'Black Market'. I've been a fan of GTA5 Roleplay ever since I've seen BurkeBlack's Serial Killer Billy get away with sob-lying to a cop about his dagger --that got lost during a body search due to a bug or something-- being worth 10k dollars in sentimental value, and get that amount handed out in cash as a result, and roflaughing about it.
My character's name is Face, Four Face. But it's more like four one faces, as explained by Mark Wahlberg Batman:
With my four faces I explore 4 different niches of interaction within Los Santos. 4 vantage points make for a hell of lot more information and connection dynamic. So when people want to get something going that's overarching their niche, I'm usually the go-to persons. It wasn't always like this, though. Before me there were people like Tim Macapone and Nino Chavez stitching the community together. But like Paul Atreides relative to the Bene Gesserit, I went where they could not.
Everyone wants their character to make it big while looking good and staying memorable in the process, whether that's being funny / having funny stuff happening to them or whatever works for them. But everyone can't be the mob uberboss or the alpha woman pulling the strings while acting all innocent, meaning there's a limited (although very high) number of end-game best-case-scenario outcomes, the best of which become viable only via off-air coordination, without sidestepping the limitations of the vigorously enforced no-meta-gaming policy. Bla bla bla, I know.
Bottom line is I see potential and work towards making people come to me to fulfill it. I'm proactive like that. When I saw Buddha needing more sex, I went incognito into the streamer's chat and lobbied for him to start a followers-with-benefits kind of cult. Once I got his attention I told him every successful cult needs people to be "persuaded" into joining it, and I meant being blackmailed into doing things they normally wouldn't do. In this day and age, I said, and in any other, basically, information is the key to manipulation. If you know a dirty secret, let's say by knowing the therapist to which they are spewed on a regular basis, and giving her something she wants in exchange for her abandoning adherence to the doctor-patience confidentiality, then you're good to squeeze anything out of whoever wants it to stay that way, a secret. You'll replenish your supply of zealots in no time, just give Zoey what she said she wants, establish a modeling agency and make her a star designer.
You'll both be able to wash a ton of money and you'll get access to top tier pussy, man, hmm?
Next, I lobbied for Tony and Zoey to get together, so I pitched + Show Spoiler [her] +
since she is the therapist, and in tune with Zaibatsu hiding behind the guise of a pharmaceutical company that manufactures a wide array of products (the likes a modeling agency would make excessive use of) and distributes them in both Liberty and Anywhere City

the force.
'Respect is everything', is the infamous slogan, but how? Mafia. Wut? You know, a bunch of ppl get together to play it, the uninformed majority vs informed minority's subterfuge game. They either get scum (mafia), town or serial killer roles. During the day they have to decide who among them to lynch, and at night the mafia can kill someone, an EMS can attempt to save, a detective can attempt to investigate someone, a vigilante can try to kill scum or kill himself failing (unable to live with himself after taking an innocent's life), and all that good jazz. It's played on a bunch of forums everyweb, you haven't heard of it? Well it just so happens that twitch is a pretty awesome platform to play mafia on.
Equally fortunate is the fact that everything awesome about mafia has been theoretically augmented still, when a forumite on the Mafia subforum of teamliquid.net. named Race Bannon, took it upon himself to take it to the next level by decoding its transcending qualities. He suggested a currency system to reward townies proportional to their efficacy in voting scum, he called bragging rights or ßragons. Each game those correct votes, and even the length of time they persist, gets counted and evaluated based on the amount of players in the game and the scum/town ratio accordingly:
[(#T - 1) / #S(K) x hours voting S(K)] - hours voting T - (0.1 per hour not voting)
An equivalent for scum roles is called ®espect, whereby for every misslynch scum get 1 each. For every scum lynch they lose (#T-1)÷#S each; in a 13p game on day 1, that would be 3®. Amount of endgamed townies count quadruple in ranked matches, which are basically face offs of two randomly selected players, by having them compete for victory in 3 simultaneous games with the same setup and players list. The player who is being ranked will be scum once, while the other is town, and town two times. Once while the other is scum and in an eventual tiebreaker were they're both townies, relying on bragon income to determine the better performance and thus the victor.
As for why twitch is an ideal platform, voice games > forum games. Here's an excerpt of a game using soundcloud to archive voice posts. Using clips, a streamer is able, within minutes, to vocalize the reply, clip it and share it to the archiving medium (could be anything: A twitter, discord channel, iwakuroleplay.com chatroom, here) themselves or appoint someone to do it for them. A betting agency based on bets on alignment of player and victorious team, involving bits and donation dollars, to immerse the viewer base, might be a prospect as well. And so we finally get to part about the Black Market.
As opposed to money in-game, the shadow currency's creation isn't dictatable nor its value passively controllable by either the server administrators (coders or otherwise) or the in-game government, but rather it's the result of hosting mafia games, mafia game proficiency of the players, viewer bets and supply and demand of roleplay favors, and .. here's the plot-twist crux's headpiece.. the character lore which resonates best with all of it. All this seems pretty far-out, but it's necessary to proceed to the next phase, which is the fusion of bragons, respect, bits & donation dollars, RP service exchange and most importantly in-game power or privilege of some sort, or rather the ambition to get creative in order to achieve it.
Let's imagine for a minute that Los Santos is an arc town where arc games of mafia are played with persistent roles. What would a Godfather (returns innocent to detective checks) translate to in this transcended context, where, the same way bragons and respect is earned in a regular game, players are competing for lore and shadow currency.
Godfathers were the jargon, music and movie producers, Verbal Kint, Marlon Brando, that guy from The Imitation Game probably ~ haven't seen it, the people behind Esperanto, the Goa'uld, Valyrian, Dothraki and Klingon languages, Snoop Dogg and the Yakuza all in one, in terms of talent, intelligence and creativity genotype needed to excel.
They were beacons and pylons of covert communication, coming up with lingo to infuse flavor with, and coerce newbloods into idolizing organized crime, attract henchmen or communicate instructions, on multiple levels and to multiple layers of the underground movement. While mobs without them keep loosing muscle to undercover operatives, the "father tongue" stalls the danger, keeping it from reaching higher ranked henchmen by creating informational buffers, coded with patterns, which the player with godfather experience updates at will as needed.
Back to my story..
I needed to teach Buddha the ways of the Godfather, so I designed a system of semi-covert communication, cool enough to piche the interest of the people he was faring with his cab, but subtle and subdued in order to gauge their susceptibility for a life of crime and loyalty to him, first, based on the concept of a phonetic alphabet, I wound up calling + Show Spoiler [Dragon / Long Tongue] +
There is an international phonetic alphabet, containing a separate character for each distinguishable speech sound. However, it's utterly impractical and fugly; it's like they made it so that nobody would ever use it; like esperanto. So we make our own.
Here's the basic alphabet:
q a y 7 b c d
w e f g h ii j
k l m n o p r
s z x t u v +
And here's the advanced one:
q a y 7 b c d w e ` f 3 g 6 h ' " ii 1 k l m n ~ o 0 9 p r 4 5 x z s t 2 u 8 v +
q as in art, a as in got, y as in but & 7 as in should
c, ii, z: as in Chinese: cainiiz[], w as in and & e as in end
j as in manage, x as in sex, s as in flash, u as in uhr(German for watch/clock) and + as in pizza
To the advanced layer we add 0 as a long accentuated form of o (ó), 1 as the continuous j in mirage or jean-luc, 8 as in übermensch and 9 as in ördög (Hungarian for devil).' stands for the sharp h sound in furcht (German for fear) and " articulated vocally sounds like an exaggerated German ch like in rache, just a bit more exaggerated still. ` is an accentuated e sound in ég, the Hungarian word for sky, and we'll use ~ as a spanish ñ.
there are 3 different types of r: r, 4 and 5. 4 is the American/English, 5 is the French one as heard in merde, and r is the Rammstein / Abdul-style Rock n Roll one.
We use [] after a word which we want to mark as capitalized, and * after a name.
example:
!aa[] !kwnt !stwnd !it, !ai !nou !iu !plwnd !it

do you think i've left something out? let's talk
So basically we use the numbers for additional sounds, but first we freed up some more characters that are rather useless, like q, w, x and y, and assigned them to sounds being used often in the english language. Then we bound some sounds, which other European languages use and English not so much, to numbers.

I told him familiarize yourself with it and let's talk. He said what about devanagari, chinese pronunciation? arabic variations? spanish, castellano? even hebrew in little israel has few variations of some letters dependently of roots of a person speaking... whispering sounds? I said "can you give a concrete example of such a sound, like from a youtube video or something? i rarely hear speech sounds that cannot be reproduced using this simplified phonetic alphabet." adding the Long Tongue equivalent below:
