Then StarCraft 2 came out...and I started playing in December 2010 (July-December was reserved for physical pursuits, but then I decided I loved video games too much so I got back into StarCraft), and I clawed my way from Bronze up to Diamond during the next few months, reaching Diamond in April 2011.
I then plateaued towards the top of Diamond...I played less and less, since Marching Band was eating into my time, and I just didn't seem to be getting better. I hadn't quite matured enough to accept losing yet, and I got scared to ladder...so during my long practice sessions over at my buddy's house (we would all bring our PCs to have a teamhouse environment), I would end up playing Minesweeper or Solitaire instead.
Eventually I fell in love, and I lost my passion for StarCraft...so I stopped playing and became an observer instead.
After HotS came out, in March-ish 2013, I played briefly, but then life caught up with me and I stopped playing. I played a bit in 2015 as well, but that eventually dropped off.
Recently, a buddy of mine (same buddy) got back into LotV, and I decided to watch some GSL. I had never seen StarCraft 2 this exciting - I love the new units, the intensity, the drama, all of the crazy micro battles and the crazy things that happening. The players now got so good that we could see the same excitement we had in Brood War...and in some moments (PvP Disruptor battles, for instance) were so tense I was literally screaming at the TV.
Tasteless's jokes keep getting better LOL. And yes, I do have a Terran notebook.
I started playing again, and now that (girl I fell in love with) is no longer a part of my life, I have the energy to go at it again with everything I got. I clawed my way up to Diamond 3 from Silver, so I got that going for me, and now I'm going to do some deep studying.
I've fixed a lot of the silly errors I was making back when I was 17...I'm 22 now, so we'll see how this goes haha. I love LotV, it's so much fun and I'm having a blast playing every day.
See you all on ladder! Message me if you want a Diamond 3 ish practice partner.
Long live StarCraft.
