I used to play indie/punk/rock, practicing hard three times a week for hours, playing small shows at bars and such, with mostly friends attending. It was good times until I had to move away for job reasons a few years ago. The end.
Well... until a few months ago my old friends from the band came to visit me for one day. We were really happy to see each other and had some good laughs about old times. But we knew we'd never have the time to do proper songwriting and rehearsal ever again.
"But wait... nowadays people make music all the time just with their computers and they also cut and repeat recorded samples and all that good stuff. Lets give this a try real quick."
one of them said.
"Oh and can you hand me that margharita, please... and that other one too?"
...
What hapened then was, at least from my standpoint, rather hilarious, but it also felt strangely satisfying, so I thought I'd share the result with you.
Well since you played (the bass?) and have a hang on how to make real life music, this will leak into music you create with a machine; get my point? without those hours that you and your former band spent toghether, you would never have been able now to create something like this. It is very important that someone who writes with a machine can also write with a pen and paper and an instrument.
This is very enjoable btw
Edit: i listened to your full album; Its a shame you people are not playing anymore; you really have something going on together... i don' t listen to punk-rock really, but i listened to your album and really liked it; my favorite track was Drive
Wow, thank you very much for the kind words and for taking your time to listening to our album!
Drive was special back then because the instuments were all recorded live together, while for all the other songs it was first drums, then bass, then guitars etc. I'm not sure if it's really punk rock, maybe more like indie-rock? I went to a lot of indie/punk/hardcore concerts in my teenage days, so I guess my definition of punk is rather broad.
Playing live will be missed for sure, but we just live too far from each other to rehearse. We'll certainly meet again and record more happy cheesy tracks though. I guess after all life is too short to be dead serious all the time...
I do not believe that you guys just whipped this up without having any prior experience in making music with the computer
We sure have experience with music computers, I picked up some good knowledge from the guy who was recording and mixing our first album. We just didn't use a pc for composing and arranging before, just to record songs that we were already playing live.

Listened to the album. Dude, I love the bass(especially on What Sonny Said), made me want to play bass again even though I didn't play in over 10 years since my bass broke and I didn't buy a new one. Usually only sublime and red hot chilly peppers create that urge to play again =)

Thats a really nice compliment, thanks. Our bass player will be flattered for sure when I show him this thread I remember him saying that before we met the other bands he was trying out with always were complaining that he would play way too much melody stuff. Maybe you should get your bass fixed up and start to play again? Its never too late...

Thanks. I actually used to like PJ a lot when I went to school. At least the first three albums.

Good job
Thanks! Yep I mixed and kind of mastered the track at home and put in quite some hours for that. As I said I wasn't completely new to this, I used to mix (or rather try to...) the songs we were recording in the rehearsal room and got quite an interest in recording and mixing during the studio sessions for our first album.
PS: Guys, I'm quite surprised, I expected to share a somewhat funny track for a quick laugh and you took the time to listen to our stuff from way back and give some nice feedback and encouragement. Lovin' TL <3
