Simple as it gets really. Do you still play Starcraft? I had this question pop up today & thought why not just ask for no other purpose than simple minded curiousity. I for one find myself more of a spectator than an actual player these days. Especially after LOTV was released.

I loved WoL. I watched it a ton and I played it a ton too. I got straight into Diamond when I got it but I was never a competitive player so I always tried to do weird stuff instead of playing to win.
When HotS came out I was a little bit disappointed by blizzard. I didnt like Widow Mines, I didnt like Swarm Hosts, I didnt like MSC or Oracles... To make it short: I didnt like HotS at all. I still played the game though, but much less frequently.
When LotV got into beta I hardly played SC2 anymore. Now that it is released I dont play at all and dont watch either. I just dislike the way the game is headed. It seems to me like Blizzard is pandering to a completely different audience with SC2 then they did with SC1; and I am not part of their target audience.
So I sit back and enjoy me some BW for as long as I still have that. I am not really angry at Blizzard and I dont understand all the h8ters that bash DK or Browder. I am just sad and disappointed.

I played HotS a lot, I enjoyed LotV beta a lot up until Terrans figured out how to add bio to liberators and the matchup actually regressed from multitask heavy LBM vs 4M into Zerg doing roach/ravager F2+A+CCCCC.

I still sometimes play Starbow and I'll probably pick up the game again if a better ZvT metagame develops.

I eventually converged from playing all XvX modes to mainly 2v2s and I loved LoTV for this. The maps are better and better, the 12-worker start killed the most annoying rushes, the new economy leads to spread out mining and take-the-whole-map situations and most of the games we play are pretty late game; vipers pretty much killed most of the annoying "turtle into all air" strategies. In general, it's better than ever.

Yep! I played A LOT of HOTS, and at first I didnt play much lotv (in the beta and on release) because I didnt like it but once I got used to the new economy model, its seriously the best version of SC2 yet. Of course there are still 'problem areas' like disruptor vs disruptor PvP and roach ravager ZvT not being as balanced or cool as 4M vs LBM, but overall, the new econ model (with lots of expanding etc) + faster pace makes for a much higher skill ceiling, more entertaining games.

Once the meta gets more evolved and better maps made, its going to be far far superior to what we've seen so far.

I still love it, I watch more then I play, but I always did that. When I started to play in HOTS in 2014, I played a lot because I had the time, and I was able to progress rapidly. After I hit plat in early 2015 I started to play less, I could see that I was not improving nearly as fast as before, and I did not want to put more hours into starcraft then I already did, in 2014 it was pretty much the only game I played and I wanted to play other games.

I still played quite a bit, and would probably had hit diamond in the summer if they did not lock the ladder. When LOTV came out I played a lot because it was the winter brake, I love the game and the higher speed (plus they killed mech yessssss). But after university just took to much of my time and I choose to watch it instead of playing it (I always prefers the later anyway)
I am still plat in LOTV and I will probably play more this summer.

I am a very casual player tho, I have very little time to play/watch and in fact it's been a long while since I've been spending all the time watching. But this will change next month when I finish the Uni. Prepare yourselves

I played wol and hots for about 2 months each with some periods of couple days several times. I wasnt particularly good at it. I didnt buy lotv. But Ive always watched korean pro-games.
As a spectator I didnt like hots that much b/c matches were too slow and too much camping and not enough action. That changed in lotv and i like that part. I like lotv the most out of all expansions but it may be temporary b/c i didnt care about it at all until about 1 month after the official release. I started watching pro games and was pleasantly surprised by new ideas. But maybe its just novelty and i will get bored of it quickly. I still watch bw kor pro-matches and i started somewhere around 2002. Im curious to see how lotv will withstand the test of time and how the pro scene will look in 2 and 5+ years.

as long as i continue to be fed similarly skilled opponents when i press "automatch" i could care less what my "rank" is. and, as long as the automated Tournament mode puts me up against 7 or 15 similar players .. again i don't care what my rank is.

I play WoL and HotS. I just played 5 more games of LotV over the weekend and it was disgusting. I won 3/5 but lost all motivation for playing after seeing how fast-paced and dumb the game has become. I absolutely dislike LotV and it's a shame that this is the state of the game for pretty much ever now. It's a shame that Blizzard screwed the game so much (for me).

I am starting to become the same was as OP. I loved WoL. I loved HotS. But for whatever reason I'm loosing interest in LotV. It's unfortunate but I can feel it happening. I still love watching the game, and LotV is arguably the most fun of the expansions to watch, it's just not as fun to play imo. x.x

I played it a lot on WoL. I had a lot of fun in 2010. When the metagame was still freestyle. I didn't really enjoyed the last part of WoL. I played a bit of HotS. Havn't bought LotV.
I returned on BW.

I'm not playing atm due to rl obligations. I'm working for about 60 to 70 hours per week, so playing games is not possible right now. As I'm a competitive person, I can't really have fun playing SC2 when I'm not on top of my game. I love grinding tons of ladder games, which I'll certainly do once my career slows down.

I got really sick of HotS mid-2015 and am just getting up to date with LotV. The new units are a bit goofy but I can't deny that they make the meta far more dynamic, that and the mining changes. I play quite often but the ladder experience hasn't improved enough for me to really want to make a push for masters.

I played SC2 Beta and WoL for a few months but I never really grew to love it like I loved BW. I never touched HOTS and I played LOTV and I liked the faster games but all the units are bullshit in LOTV.

I got burnt really quickly. Tried picking it up a few times and the same thing happened. LOTV looks boring as shit from the vids I've seen.

I just always felt that SCII matches were pretty predictable, and the game really limited the amount of playstyles you could use successfully.
