With the advent of Reborn upon us, I want to reminisce about UMS and custom games long lost but not forgotten, especially because, admit it, the custom games so far blow harder than EE. After all, we deserve it. For all the outdated hats we bought. I deserve it, for having to re-download Reborn so many damned times. (h/t @Cyborgmatt)
First I'd just like to say that volvo you really need to add support for RTS-style building in Source 2 yourself. It doesn't make sense to have 3rd parties work on such basic functionality.
1. Uther Party
The best mini-games! I was then the uncontested Mannoroth champion and I hope to one day return to the throne.
2. Line Tower Wars
PvE tower defense is for 9 year olds... step up boys.
3. Wintermaul TD
Sometimes it's nice to play a team TD.
4. Sheeptag
This one was so popular we had sheep tag clans in USWest lol. It was aite.
5. Battlecraft
The only good custom game to come out of SC2. I'm not sure how this would work in a Dota remake.. maybe with Dota units and heroes, but they lack the counter-craft of SC2.
Lots of others, Mutalisk Islands from Broodwar, various other defense maps, bounds...good times. Footmen Frenzy is an obvious crowd favorite too.

I remember Island troll tribes and LOAP. footman frenzy could be nice too!

There is a version of Uther party, Sheep tag, a few TDs are in the works. There is a version of footman frenzy also knocking around.
DotaCraft, a WC3 clone is also just getting into alpha atm as well.

Battlecraft did not come out of SC2, it was a thing in bw for a long time.

there is a dota2 version of wintermaul wars called faction TD but it sucks atm, towers and income units are one dimensional and the pathfinding just goes to the end so theres no maze tricks like in other TDs

ah ~ the SC2 one was legitimately fun for me. I don't think it would work as a dota custom though
it even kept track of your rank lol, will reborn have the ability to keep stats like that?
