So after leading an incredibly sedentary lifestyle over the past year, I've decided to stop being a couch potato and hit the gym/track. It's been just over two months since I've started out and I'd say I'm making pretty good progress. In particular, I've been working on my running and pull-ups lately, since for Singaporean guys there is mandatory conscription and there is this physical fitness test we have to pass every year.
I've managed to cut my timing for a 2.4km run (about 1.5 miles) from 12:30 to 10:30 over these 2 months. I've started working on my pull-ups 2 weeks ago, but I've not made much progress (still stuck at 4) ... hope it improves soon
I've found that getting into shape (and quitting starcraft) has made me a happier person... I've acquired a good habit, and I now have a newfound purpose in life (to get buff lol)
Thanks for reading Any tips on running or how to improve pull-ups would be much appreciated as well

nice man! for pullups i recommend getting into rock climbing. ;D
for running, just maintain your level and push yourself hard on one day every 1-2 weeks. give yourself a rest day after that. 7min miles is already quite good for someone who just started.

Congrats dude! I too hit a plateau on pull ups, but am about to implement a new training strategy. Check it out at this reddit link. it's referred to as greasing the groove and is generally well received.
