The inside is a bit more finished. There's some plywood here and there, but other than the unfinished balconies which are just slabs of concrete with no railings, everything seems in order.
Move-in was easy enough, though I've been sick (flu or something).
A few early catches:
-one of our showers doesn't work. It's not a problem with a tight knob like I've had in the past, rather you turn the knob and no waters comes. Not so useful. The bathrooms are pretty nasty, like a bunch of teenagers with no self respect have been living here for a year. Whatever, easy enough to deal with.
-the lock to my room is a key-code, and right away it looks janky as fuck. The lock is loose, the handle is tiny, and the whole mechanism seemed pretty unreliable. I managed to get in but felt anxious locking my room this morning.
Went to class this morning, [...]
---------------------------------------------- INTERMISSION ---------------------------------------------
Originally I was just going to talk about being locked out of my room (the titular puzzle being the weirdo door lock which failed as I predicted), but there was a fire or something in the building while I was writing this post, at first I wasn't sure it was a real alarm but then I saw firetrucks at the street and decided I should probably get out (am on 10th floor btw). As a very minor sidenote, was going to mention that the cutie from worse than ketchup is in my class again.
Anyways about the fire, so there was some serious fucking smoke when we got to the 1st floor stairwell exit, also I'm asthmatic and have a cold/flu and walked down 10 flights of stairs. Got out fine though, hooray for multiple exits!
Some people are really retarded. When my roommate and I got out to the parking lot, there was one guy with just a bathrobe and a girl with shorts on. This is Canada. It's January. Today was like -20. It takes 5 fucking seconds to grab pants and a coat. What the fuck is in some people's heads.
We were even chatting up the shorts girl and she was gonna walk with us to Burger King and I noticed she was HOLDING a fucking sweater. Wtf wrap that thing around your legs you moron.
As a last complaint, the firefighters tramped their wet boots all over our floor when they searched the building. Can't hold it against them really but it's still annoying.
