EPTMost of you know me as that guy from Aligulac, some of you also knows that I am the one who mostly handles our twitter account @SC2Aligulac, what most of you probably don't know is that I am also a Junior Business Intelligence Consultant, and as such I have access to some of the more refined visualization tools at work (QlikView, Qlik Sense, Tableau etc.).
Now, after a request from an unnamed person we (TheBB, hewo, kiekaboe and myself) spent some time gathering WCS points data to our site, which he hope to incorporate better on Aligulac when we have the time for it. TheBB was kind enough to provide me with 35 .csv files for me to do some Excel stuff, and while Excel is useful for the purpose I originally needed the data for, it just isn't that sexy from a visualization point of view.
With that in mind (and my newly completed Tableau Fundamentals course in the bag) I took some time out of my schedule to learn how to make a Viz for you guys.
So it is with some pride I present you guys with the Blizzcon Data Viz 2014.

This includes all WCS 2014 matches from every single WCS event including all the 16 Blizzcon players.
I will be happy to answer questions as they pop up - I hope you guys enjoy this little thing I made, it took a look more effort than what it looks like, if you happen to have Tableau installed you can download the workbook with the data extract and see how it's built. I will also release my spreadsheet (which was made for a different purpose) once Blizzcon is over.
I want to thank TheBB for his development of the new feature on our site and providing the queries and .csv files for this. I want to thank kiekaboe and hewo for their work on adding the points to all the tournaments together with me. Finally I want to thank all the great people who volunteer at Aligulac for their time and commitment, unfortunately my own time commitment has decreased due to a full-time internship but I really appreciate all the effort every single one of you guys put into it.
