Almost 5 months have passed since I teased my blog when I did my 3000th edit on Liquipedia and a lot of things have happened in between: Not only did I get my first gold coin, I got promoted to reviewer as well. Lately, I was even interviewed by the Liquipedia-staff for their next review *hinthint*
This makes me incredible proud because it's only been a bit over a year of editing. It all started on the 24th of May in 2013 when I was looking at the 2013 WCS Season 1 Europe/Challenger : I suddenly noticed a group missing dropdown arrows. I decided to fix it and created my TeamLiquid account (I was only lurking to that day, but it hasn't changed much), then I saw that magic code. Wow, so many brackets and pipes, so many abbreviations, but I made it somehow work. \Ü/
Every now and then I made some minor edits. Soon I expanded my "edit range" to other parts of the wiki, especially the Recent Tournament Results which I kind of "ran" and made most of my edits on it (I have it slip in the last weeks, but I really want to do update it again!). With edits came experience and with experience came knowledge. The feeling of "I want to give something back to the scene I love" has been driving me since then and it's still motivating me today.
After about 300 edits I got promoted to editor which basically gives you access to a special sub-forum and allows you to make changes on LP pages without needing anybody to approve them (Stupid me, I thought 300 edits is much ^^). This gave me a huge boost in motivation because I hadn't to bother somebody anymore. With time passing, I started to edit the other LPs aswell, at least reviewing pending changes and yet-to-approve pages, and I joined the IRC channel on a regular basis.
This got me to know the people behind the nicks, at least a little bit. I want to thank you, for the never-ending support when I had/have questions, for the help with Templates, for explaining and for simply being awesome! It's always a blast to hang around on Quakenet #liquipedia with you!
The amount of reviewing I've done brought me a Liquichievement (to be honest, I don't think I've done that much, but please don't tell, it looks so cool ^-^ ).
But that's no reason to rest, I still want to improve my contributions. The next big project will be the transition to Semantic MediaWiki, an extension to our current software which will allow us to make editing and maintaining the wikis a lot easier. This can lead Liquipedia to new heights, so if you want to help us, feel free! And even if you don't know how (or don't want) to do such back-end stuff, you're always welcome and encouraged to update results, player biographys, tables or just fix mistakes, we really appreciate that!
On a side note, I want to announce the LickyPiddy SC2 clan formed out of our community, we will participate in the SC2Improve Team League for fun!
Last but not least, I want thank everybody who's part of our community! Thank you FO-nTTaX and Chapatiyaq for your unbelievable help, you know the answers to every question! Also thank you salle[], Yhamm and PhiLtheFisH, for being patient with me and teaching me a lot of things. Thanks to Gecko for your outstanding work on LP-BW and always being funny on IRC. Also, Franconia fighting! Another big thank you goes to Androxide, draverawr, Oddyesy, Josh_Video, pPingu, fomal/fusefuse, Knatterking, Noam, Elyvilon and Procrastinating for being always super awesome on IRC and being great editors (dave, you can become one too!: P)! You make the hard work liquid, you make it fun,you make it like a family.
But not editors are the biggest part, it's you! You, who are using Liquipedia, who are spreading the word, who post links to LP instead of the actual websites, you make us staying up late, you are our drive, our passion! Thank you.
Sorry to everybody I forgot and sorry for my english, there are probably lots of grammatical mistakes in this blog.
Yours,
Clubfan
