Many of us work 12+ hours / day in the non gaming world. You want to excel at anything you have to have drive and passion. At times your passion will wane; that is where, as adults, your drive pushes you through till your passion can be rekindled. Hopefully your time away will allow you to grow up and not be such a petulant child.
Dick.
I find this sad, apart from Scarlett and Naniwa all of my favourite players are Terrans (I play Terran). I really enjoyed Naniwa's play, the sick forcefields etc, and the drama surrounding him. I too would be happy to see him come back for LotV but it seems it is not to be. Farewell, King of the North.

I always cheered you Nani, if you come back i will still cheer for you.
If you don't want to come back or choose not to I wish you luck in all your future endeavors.
You Naniwa will always be one of those few that could compete with top koreans, in the end it was your will and your training that got you there. Not your trip to korea and if you choose to, I know you could do it again.
You said it yourself, once your passion ignites again you can just make a comeback and go toe to toe with the best of them. Until that day comes, stay well and good luck with everything.

And the last drama with Kane, wtf with you. SC2 is better without such a toxic person. Toxic is such a bullshit word for not being able to articulate why you want him gone. He added a lot to the scene and without players like him the sc2 scene is a lot more boring to follow. You can't say with a straight face sc2 would have been better without him regardless if you like him or not. I'm not saying all he did was for the better but he was an asset to the foreign scene for a long time, asshole or not. Toxic is a word that is not really ban-worthy. And what did he really do for the scene ? Ok, he was the best foreigner for a while. But that's irrelevent, he was good at the begining but so was idra, jinro, White-ra or Dimaga. Then Stephano came, and took the title for more than a year, by far. Then Nani did some kind of comeback, but in the meantime Stephano was still the best foreigner, Lucifron was on fire and Scarlet was rising. He did nothing that had a big impact on the scene but being an asshole to others players and fans. I can take idra as an other exemple. Look; noone even talk about him anymore but he was like the biggest symbol of sc2 at his time.

Just like sports, eSports needs a small number of controversial figures to liven the scene up. People liked to watch Nani, half wishing he would win and half wishing he would lose (disclaimer: 90% of statistics are made up). Hell, I even wanted him to beat some Terrans and I never, ever support a non-Terran against a Terran usually, not even Scarlett.

You've kept the foreigner flag for quite long.. Maybe not vs T or in PvP (although you either lost too badly or you won too easy in that matchup lol, but your PvZ man, that was probably the games I loved the most.. I bet you hated the guts of those though
But yah - your: Life vs Naniwa finals will forever be remembered as one of the best comebacks ever.. And you almost pulled it for the 3rd time too, but Life did a comeback vs your comeback too
Still - think that at least you should maybe "post your thoughts" more thoroughly rather than just "swarmhost makes games boring" lol.. I mean - Blizz could "profit" in depth from players/thinkers like you, rather than just say "reactively" what you didn't like though
GL HF in life Nani, maybe you weren't loved or you didn't even want that, but certainly you were one of those who we admired the most

I've always enjoyed watching you play and would keep cheering for you if you ever came back
|
<333 Nani, hope you will at least give LotV a try when it drops and see if you like it
Always remember that Nani was one of the only foreigners capable of standing up to the Koreans.

So, because we don't let 3rd graders act like this in pee-wee sports I should say it's okay for a supposed adult to act like this? Wow, you call me a dick for expecting professionalism out of someone that is paid to perform. Ya, you are right, I'm WAY off base lol.

Nice to see the first page of comments absent of douchey forum crusaders, and, instead, filled with support for a great player <3

It continues to amaze me a player who never learns could become that good at starcraft.

You and Stephano were the foreign hope. Come back to LoTV please!
|
Sad to see you go, you were so talented. It's also a shame that you had to much negative experience in your career about bullocks, like flame and accusations here and there. Good luck in life whatever you decide to do. Go fighting!

The one thing that bothers me the most about many pros out there are the people who will endlessly worship said pro.
I think NaNiwa contributed a lot to the scene, but none of us really know what his personal life is like. I'm not saying he's a bad guy, but nor am I saying he is a boy-scout. He did his job to make SC2 grow, in my opinion. Just like many other pros that you guys may not like (even those who should not be mentioned here on teamliquid).
I don't think anyone should have to be a saint when it comes to being a pro gamer. It's just realistic. I mean Tiger Woods is one of the world's best Golf players, but look at that drama that happened with him, two women, and a golf club and his car. Look at Charlie Sheen, look at Arnold Schwarzenegger, look at Tom Cruise, and look at Kobe Briant. Some of the worlds best examples in entertainment and mainstream sports. When that shit happens, I just shrug it off and think to myself, "Just like anyone else on any other day" for those guys. Why hate them like an episode of television unless they have personally crossed you?

and when i slept i thought about strategys Really? Well... that's interesting xD

Yeah its really a shame you left From what I know and have seen you really are the only foreigner who can compete with Koreans for the championship... I was really looking forward to you going all the way this year! Still, I understand losing interest in something and I definitely don't think you should force yourself if its really that unbearable. Anyway, good luck in whatever endeavor you decide to pursue from here and like the others said, I hope you will return next year or at least for LotV and your fans LovE

These are all arguments that perpetuated all throughout the IEM incident. The reality is that society lets elite talent have much more leniency with outrageous behavior. It is also true that sometimes it makes headlines and sometimes it is for the financial benefit of the person or industry. However it is also fact that organizations like a corporations, any skilled labor, NFL, government departments, and 99.999999% of the CAREERS available would've immediately fired and sued the employee for negligence. It really depends where the eSports community members want the industry to build into, a brand that is respected like the NFL, PGA, or NHL that heavily fines, force to sit out without pay, or even kick people out indefinitely. Or something like the NBA where teams go bankrupt, players force team policy, and players beat up fans in the stands.

that is making me really sad hope u will do fine in future! <3 Nani

GL in life man, I always enjoyed the contribution you brought to the scene - both in and outside the game. People like you kept / keep the SC2 scene going.

Practically after he left I never had any reason to watch SC2 again. He was the last hope.

You rock Nani. Don't forget you have/had fans. Hope to see you play again sometime. If not, gl hf in everything life holds for you.
