Maybe because he gave up everything to become that great of a player. Regardless of how you feel about his personality, you can't help but respect him for the insane dedication he had for the game

I don't think I know Naniwa good enough to tell if he is a nice guy or not, since I never met him, as well as nearly all ppl here.
But I do think that on one hand he created a lot of drama that wasn't necessary. And on the other hand I think he doesn't need to justify himself that often, because that makes me feel that he actually cares if people do hate him.
All in all he was one of the best players with a huge influence to the game, and that's what counts.
Cheers to Naniwa, I enjoyed your shots you fired on twitter as well as your excellent play.

I'm glad that he's moving on, I think if he continued to play he could have had more of these types of episodes (besides other provocative statements), which is not pleasant for anyone. Its nice that he could get some closure on this issue though, now he can hopefully move on in peace

i hate to see him go, but i can only feel for him...as a pro gamer, the evolution of your game is what keeps the drive going, and keeps it from becoming dull. think about it, these people don't play for "fun" anymore - it becomes a job/way of life...so the only way to keep things interesting is to have an ever-changing meta (which sc2 had for quite some time) that never fades. i think SC2 levelled itself out, and the evolution of the game has come to a weird halt.
not sure there's anyone or anything to blame, but the feeling i get from naniwa is the direction balance/units are going in. it just doesn't feel or seem like a true classical RTS game...
i'm not gonna place my opinion on this matter, as it's irrelevant to the topic, but i do miss naniwa, and i kind of feel what he's going through...it's got to be heartbreaking to not have the game evolve the way you would like it to...and i know he's just one person, and the world doesn't revolve around him, but i'm sure we can all agree with him on some level that the game has definately had its dull moments, and the current evolution of the meta is just not "fixing" any of the major issues a lot of pros bring up.
david kim is a smart guy, and i hope he'll continue to be open minded for the duration of HotS and into LotV. LotV will have high high high expectations from a lot of players...pro and casual alike.
stay in touch nani, and please give LotV a chance...even if it's not for pro gaming, i think you bring a lot to the table.

So true. Don't listen to those haters that haven't even loved a single thing as much as you have.

I miss rooting against you.

you are the very reason I started playing sc2! I really hope you return to the scene so that I can once again have somebody to cheer for :D

<3 Nani
GL with whatever it is you're doing or will do. You were one of my favourites, and every stupid Naniwa drama that happened, while it would never have happened to me how it did, i always had massive empathy for your situations. And more often than not they exposed some abject stupidity within the scene.

I know how it feel to force yourself to do something that you no longer enjoy. Yea, feeling dead inside.
Naniwa, thank you for everything you have done for SC2 scene. I wish you all the very best for the future.

Very unfortunate to hear this, but you left a good legacy and if you really don't love it right now then I'm only happy that you aren't forcing yourself to keep playing it.
I hope that you might come back one day, but thanks for all the practice and games you showed, it was really entertaining seeing you take down koreans, and I can only imagine how hard you must have trained!

You are way too toxic and disrespectful. Damn, I wanted to punch you in the face when you said Polt won the game because the lack of soundproof, that's such a terrible insult to the most mannered Polt. And the last drama with Kane, wtf with you. SC2 is better without such a toxic person. Toxic is such a bullshit word for not being able to articulate why you want him gone. He added a lot to the scene and without players like him the sc2 scene is a lot more boring to follow. You can't say with a straight face sc2 would have been better without him regardless if you like him or not. I'm not saying all he did was for the better but he was an asset to the foreign scene for a long time, asshole or not. Toxic is a word that is not really ban-worthy. And what did he really do for the scene ? Ok, he was the best foreigner for a while. But that's irrelevent, he was good at the begining but so was idra, jinro, White-ra or Dimaga. Then Stephano came, and took the title for more than a year, by far. Then Nani did some kind of comeback, but in the meantime Stephano was still the best foreigner, Lucifron was on fire and Scarlet was rising. He did nothing that had a big impact on the scene but being an asshole to others players and fans. I can take idra as an other exemple. Look; noone even talk about him anymore but he was like the biggest symbol of sc2 at his time.
Agreed with the 852 guy above (with 2000 posts no less!) Sincerely good riddance, good luck on what you do next. There are lots of new, rising young players who can carry the foreigner torch without being so BM. I will admit i suppported you for awhile, with a bent heart, even after the probe rush incident, but you just kept going on and on witht he BM. Imho the SC2 community doesn't need Idras or Naniwas to keep it alive. We get enough excitement from Korean no-names leaving their code B and crushing tournaments at their first try (hello Sascri, Pigbaby,.........). And we have enough drama with WCS AM and WCS EU being...welll...anything but American or European. We have plenty of things to debate and argue over, without having our foreigner hope be a....Naniwa. So once again good riddance and i hope to NOT see you back.

I dont want to bash naniwa.. and this comment wont be refered to naniwa only.. but any progamer out there...
Things like " my team forced me to play" is one of the biggest problems i see in esports.. and specialy foreigns.. " despite of the time dedicated by the players " the big majority of them.. dont know or understend what to be a profesional means.. not only the way they act and speak to public.. there is soo many examples and comments iv heard everyday from progamers.
Trust me i understand how hard it is to be at the highest lvl in a game like sc2.. i respect it like nothing else.. but watching how players like dongraegu.. taeja. stephano. or many others.. saying things in interviews like
"im not even practicing now" "im bored of the game" "i think i will quit , i dont enjoy it anymore" "i will try my best the next tourney but if i dont win i will consider retiring"
All this is true..as it is in any job.. and much worse.. probably but its like saying you cant wake up early on to go to work.. because you are tired.. ..what does the sponsors or people think about esports after listening to this kind of stuff? people retiring and coming back after 2 months.. people trash talking their own team or game... in public interviews.. how can you expect it to be better? to get more sponsors and money? or grow if everyplayer has this attitude...
At least this is how it looks.. i do respect naniwa as a player.. and wish him the best tho.. but will face this problem in any job you get.. unfortunately..
