I've only had her (for 6 years now) so I have no way of knowing whether this is normal or not. She said she thinks all women are more or less attracted to it. Are your girlfriends attracted to it? If you are a woman, are you attracted to it?

A girl (or guy) likes someone else based on alot of points. body, attitude, mindset, clothes and also smell is a more important factor than many people may think. Sweat smells are different for many people and it's even different in different areas. In this case, if you've been together for over 6 years, I would find it more unusual if she thinks you really stink than if she likes how you smell sweaty. I also heard geological differences are also impacting smells. For example; White girls will usually prefer white guys, and vice versa, due to smell.* *(i have no data on this, just what I've heard a long time ago and I've always assumed this as fact, if someone could confirm this, it would be nice). edit..... : What Aiurz says aswell ![]()

The more different the DNA, the more the woman is attracted to the smell. Supposedly this keeps people with similar DNA from mating as it increases the risk of autosomal recessive diseases in the offspring. Also incest is bad.

Correction: The DNA which encodes for a person's Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) which is one component to body odour, depends on alleles from both parents. Wikipedia: (<- click for the article) A more diverse set of MHCs leads to a stronger immune system. Females are thus likely to be more attracted to males with MHC alleles different from their own to provide offsprings a stronger immune system. ... Females not using contraceptives were more attracted to the scent of males with dissimilar MHCs, whereas females on contraceptives preferred the scent of men with MHCs similar to her own. Further studies, while not confirming the female attraction to the scent of a dissimilar MHC, were able to confirm the attraction of females on contraceptives to similar MHCs, as well as showing that males are more attracted to the scent of females with a dissimilar MHC. It's not like women can somehow tell how different your DNA is by smell. It's only really a measure of difference in the DNA specific to encoding MHCs. And even that claim is somewhat flawed. In other words: Yes, this is entirely normal. My GF is also attracted to my BO (and I'm attracted to hers as well). And nice work on the 6 years.

We've been together for about 4 years and we have lived together for 3. Just yesterday she came home and about five minutes before that I came out of the shower with clean clothes on me. She sniffed and complained that I smelled bad and that I should shower. Our relationship is over., she is not attracted to me anymore. I am so upset.

However, as with anything about women, they change their mind often about it. For example, they might think its hot if you are sweating while building a fencing at your house, but find it disgusting and offensive while going to bed (to sleep). As far as I know, most women are this way (situational). One great example of this is sport. If you run daily (to stay in shape), you will be able to notice how women look at you while you run (even thou you probably will be sweating). On the flipside, I can almost 100% guarantee that if you are sweating because you are trying to eat a 5KG pizza, the looks of women will probably look a lot different :D. All that beeing said, Most women will not tell you what they like and what they dont, not to mention that women tend to get bored of things a lot faster than men.

I dunno, my ex never smelt amazing, but I guess that is explained by the fact we ended up being related ![]() No blood relation, just through distant marriage, which ended up being a joking point for a while But I guess yeah, while I wouldn't say sweat is something I like to smell, it can be somewhat comforting.
