Every time I see one of your drawings I just throw my hands up into the air, exasperated.
Well done, sir.

I wish I had 1/1000th of your drawing talent.

There seems to be a Glider fan named "Wistful Girl" on Merlini's stream :D
Wonder who it is !
edit: oh its probably flamewheel !

Something is really wrong with you, coal is supposed to be imprecise and bad for drawing, stop making beautiful portraits with it, that isnt something a human should be able to do! If you continue with this absurdity i might become one of these guys who think you are a wizard or sth and not just talented and hard working.

Liked it a lot at the 1 minute mark. Afterwards it becomes too photo real imo...
Still admire the skills of course.

prob a really newbie question, but how do you avoid smudging the rest of the picture with your drawing hand? It's hard to tell since your hand moves so fast in the video.

I dont see how it would work otherwise, although it's really hard.

Glider your paintings are an inspiration to anyone doing any task that requires so much practice, dedication and creativity to perfect.
One day I will be rich and get a portrait done by you as well :D

that's the beauty of timelapse art video, those who prefer the rough and expressive style, the art of 1min mark is in there, as are the images at 2min mark for those who like more realistic and polished style. no need to focus purely on the final image.

ye, It's vine charcoal so it's much easier to smudge. Early on all those weird marks on the right side is my hand pressing against the background, this is why I generally start the picture top left to bottom right. And of course like post below said I hover my hand whenever I can, especially when I'm drawing the left side and my hand is right over the face. Even with all the precautions I do accidentally smudge bits and pieces here and there still, I just clean them up as I go along.

That looks great! Willing to start drawing as a hobby (recently bought a Wacom Intuos 5 tablet), and I wanted to ask: how did you learned to draw like this? Art school or by yourself? And if by yourself, what books/videos did you use? And can you do concept art drawings (character/ environments/ vehicles)?
|
how long did it take you to make this
just simply amazing as usual
|
Please do a whole body drawing. You do everything so well, I think you'd do an amazing job, and I want to see you paint her like one of your french girls!

self taught, I actually don't own a tablet right now. I been wanting to get one and play around with it. and you really do need it and go digital for concept art. Concept art is really different from what I do, you have to understand lighting and structure/anatomy in a different way, but It's fun and I do want to try/practice it at some point.

I had done a lot of full body drawings, just not for YouTube. A lot of them are private commissions. and a lot of them are not work safe lol. maybe I'll do one for YouTube at some point.
