As some of you know, I was quite upset when I found out that some of my precalc students who followed SKT weren't exactly Starcraft fans... + Show Spoiler +
However, halfway through the semester, I was asked to cover a new course- a stats class. For the remainder of the semester. And while it was quite an interesting position to be put in ( + Show Spoiler +
I gave them an exam a few nights ago, and- as always- I said to them: "Good luck and have fun!" I immediately heard a giggle. One of the students looked at me and said "Starcraft?" I smiled and nodded, and he started his exam.
As the students started finishing and handing in their exams to me, the kid walks up to my desk and says, "GG Professor". I chuckle and ask him if he follows the professional scene.
"Not anymore," he replied. "I used to."
"Oh really?" I asked him. "Which players did you used to follow?"
"Stephano."
What a pity it is that this kid is going to automatically fail my class.
We talked a bit more about StarCraft, despite him clearly being a scrub. I was wondering how he could ever make me like him after he admitted to liking Stephano.
"Hey Professor, you kinda remind me of Day[9]. You're all mathy and nerdy- in a cool way- just like him."
What a pity it is that this kid is going to automatically ace my class.

Lol that's awesome! You should feel lucky for meeting so many people in your every day life that are into eSports, although I'm still not quite sure whether to like the students from your first blog more or this one.

Haha Yeah I'm pretty lucky I guess, although most of the students at NJIT are STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) majors, and there's surely a correlation between the "nerdiness" of our majors and being gamers ^^ I'm sure I'd have a lot less luck if I was teaching English or sociology at a liberal arts college.

I'm at Rutgers too Rutgers New Brunswick? I'm doing my PhD there as a student, rather than teaching there as a professor. Got my bachelor's and master's at Rutgers as well ^^

Likewise I hope you're having a great college experience!
