Maybe you refuse and kick back for your origins of your ancestors. Did you know that Monkeys are the only animals toghether with our species that have a sense of humor and do jokes.

To be fair I have never liked monkeys either. I too find them repulsive and can't really think of them as either animal nor human but some weird half-way between life form. That really is the only aversion I have to them, but it is full aversion enough that I try to ignore their existence where possible.

that is just fucking adorable

Is that Don Cheadle from Hotel Rwanda

People hating on gorillas really need to be banned from life imo. Incidentally I've just seen the documentary on the war just a few hours ago. People slaughtering an entire gorilla family not taking its meat or trophies but just to send a message to anyone trying to stop them from making some dirty charcoal money. If you find gorillas scary I wonder how you feel about.. us.

I think we've found George W. Bush's TL account ^^

A picture is worth a thousands words, but in this particular case none of these words are South Africa nor monkeys.

Maybe you can say southern Africa. Also DRC is not really in the south of the continent.

There's always one guy that will sacrifice his account for one racist joke, I'm keeping an eye on this thread until I see him. Although he might have been banned already since we had quite a few scarlett threads recently

I know they aren't the same species (gorillas and chimpanzees) but anyone seeking greater knowledge of the psyche of chimpanzees may find this book of interest. Reading about the book instead of the book itself can be enough. + Show Spoiler [book] +

I think its safe to say that all animals, humans and non-humans included all experience emotions on a basic level at least. like a dog can feel sad, or can feel happy. The onyl difference betewen them and human emotions is humans are more complex, like feeling sadness, anger, etc

Not sure I would agree with you about the more complex part - animals are capable of some serious stuff you wouldn't normally associate with them if you didn't see it. Hell, chimpanzee tribes can engage in war amongst each other.
The only thing I'm fairly certain of is that humans have much better impulse control and the ability to delay gratification much better than most other creatures. Then again, there's that whole overdeveloped frontal cortex.
It's nice that in such chaos, some people are recognizing how the conflict is impacting the world outside humanity, and are trying to help the gorillas. I still wouldn't want to open my door and find a troop of gorillas on my doorstep.

There is nothing between animals and humans, as humans technically are animals. That said I can't say anything about your crazy feelings. Okay okay don't get your panties in a knot. Of course I am aware there is nothing between humans and animals. I meant on a scale of self awareness and emotional sensitivity rather than an actual biological difference. What it is that bothers me is that apes are more advanced than other species of animals. As everyone is saying, they're capable of more complex actions and thoughts than your average animal. There is a huge leap between your common household dog and an ape. And then another big difference between that ape and a human. They stand out from other animals in so many aspects, including opposable thumbs, development of tools, complexity of their communication system and team work, and of course their emotional intelligence. Do you not find it a little discomforting that something so close to humans in many ways is actually a hairy creature that swings from trees and eats insects?
Also I'd like to make it clear that while I'm no huge fan of monkeys, gorillas or indeed any ape because of my absurd feelings, I am by no means condoning their slaughter or homelessness. I think it is admirable what these guys are doing and the selflessness of the helpers who are putting aside their own hardships and finding therapy in helping the gorilla orphans. Anyone who knows me would be aware I am not someone who believes in killing animals for any purpose.
