About me and the ranking

Hi TeamLiquid (and reddit),

I'm DiaBoLuS, a german low-mid GM protoss player in HotS (3x HotS / 5x WoL). I play sc2 since the release of the beta and I watch a shitton of professional SC2 – basically all major tournaments, many online cups and ladderstreams as well. Also, im obsessed with rankings!
Therefore, i post a foreigner rankings for about a year now, and i plan to keep posting rankings on a monthly basis in the future. When i talk about „Foreigners“, i exclude non-korean asian players (chinese, taiwanese), simply because I dont see enough of those scenes to rank them, and they dont participate in your regular major tournaments too often. So you may call it a „Western Foreigner Ranking“ if you so desire.

How do i make my ranking? Which criteria do i have?
My personal ranking watches mostly on results, but also on how they where achieved. Also, ladder-performances as well as past, major results play a role in my ranking – as well as my general impression of a player (does he seem talented / cheesy / cant seem to show off his full potential somehow). Activity obviously also plays a role – you cant call a player you never get to see one of the absolute best in my opinion.

Ranking system:
roughly
70% = my own rank /// 30% = aligulac.com rank.
both ranks will be shown in the players pictures, comulating in one rank.

So when criticizing the ranking, please talk specifically about my personal rank given, not the comulated rank, since the aligulac rank isnt influenced by me

Top 30 look pretty much spot on. I guess one could say, that Hasu and Grubby should be swapped, that Heromarine is probably a lot better than Demuslim or things of similar magnitude, but that is probably pretty subjective. Also I really like, that you had the courage to give Harstem the raise, that he deserved, so overall really well done top 30.

One thing I have to critisize though, is the lack of Happyzerg in the following 20. The guy has won 5 of his last 6 matches against koreans, including wins over Taeja, Ryung and MMA and he does´nt get mentioned, while Jig gets in the top 50 instantly for doing good at 1 NA qualifier and Kane gets in for beating desrow, edge and avilo, while players like hOpe, paranoid, Brat_OK or GoOdy (who just 2-0 FXOHurricane a few hours ago, although the article was probably already out then) have to stay out.

But still, the main list seems really good this time, thanks for the work.

I feel like since Scarlett is taking a break, it's hard for me to understand putting her at #1. She is, right now, possibly the best foreigner out there, but since she is taking a break, I feel like she deserves a posthumous mention more than anything else. That said, this looks spot on.

tbh, I can't really see ranking Naniwa as equal to Scarlett to be the slightest bit valid. Basically, either put her off the list as an honorable mention (vacation and all that jazz), or rank Naniwa's unreliability lower. I'd put him at 4th, below Lucifron and Snute, though I'll admit that Snute's mediocre performance in the WCS NA challenger makes me unsure of whether his excellent team league performances should put him so high.

Also, I'm iffy on Starbuck. While he had a nice run in WCS EU qualifiers, including that absolutely genius drone stacking stunt, he's been a bit of a bust in team leagues since then.

EDIT: I should probably mention that I greatly appreciate you for putting this together, and I hope it gets more attention.

Based on what, if I´m allowed to ask? Nani placed just as high as Scarlett at season finals and has had much more succes in the past. Tbh. I would put him as the undisputed Nr.1 in the post-Stephano age and I see absolutely no reason to put Scarlett above him. She had an amazing performance at season finals, so she deserves the equal first rank for this month, but let´s be honest, if you switch their groups at SF, Innovation eats Scarlett in their losers match (she said, she does not feel comfortable in vP, so she probably loses to duckdeok) and Nani has a nice chance to go 4-0.

A Slovene in the Foreigner Power Ranking - Starbuck. Obviously not legit!

In game one against Genius, Starbuck stacked his drones and sent them across the map to make it look like a single drone, catching Genius by surprise.

This actually sounds pretty interesting. Can somebody link me to the VOD?

its pretty funny - when it picks up a tiny bit and gets on page 1 on reddit, i have 2k views within 2 hours - if it doesnt i have 200 :D

don't wanna sound crazy, but with JonnyRecco finding form again in the ESET UK Masters and various online leagues I kinda expect him to return into the players following the top30. We'll see I guess ^_^
