Hey guys,
currently enjoying my stay in the US.
My view on this country changed dramatically when arriving here. Everyone is so nice and helpfull, really enjoyable. Not talking about politics helps, I guess.
So here is the situation: I want to buy a laptop here in the US because it is much cheaper than at home. I simply need an additional adapter and maybe an external keyboard, but other than that I think all the other software/hardware is compatible. I just do not know, where to buy. Wallmart, HHGregg? Where do you think I can get the most out of my money for good quality? I wanted to spend 600-1000 dollars, looking for something good.
Where did you buy yours? Any recommendations?
Thanks a lot!

Do you want a website or a store? Cause, y'know, websites take time to ship, and you might be gone before you get your new laptop.

Try best buy they can be pricy though, but they usually have the best varity of lap tops that you can get if you don't want to order one online. Walmart does sell them, but Walmart sucks.

BestBuy. I suck at computers so bought a premade one.

Im living in a hotel, so I dont know wether or not buying online is a choice. I have 6 weeks left, would that be enough for shipping? I will go to best buy and see what they got. Thanks for the responses.

I bought one from Best Buy too, although the laptop happened to suck and the Geek Squad was even worse.
Then I bought one online and it was fantastic. I think the brand of laptop you buy is possibly more important than where you buy it too. Just make sure you get a warranty if you're not a computer wiz.

dont use bestbuy use newegg. bestbuy service is really really bad.
Ask the hotel if you can ship stuff there, six weeks is more then enough. enjoy your stay !
do not not not purchase anything expensive from bestbuy plz trust me.

Go to Newegg.com alternatively, XMG is also a great laptop maker. If you want a mac, just go to an applestore near you and you'll have it same day . Enjoy your stay! Where are you in 'Murika?

Okay I will ask the hotel if they would take deliveries for me and then I will consult Newegg. What would you think would happen if the elivery got lost somewhere along the shipping route (someone from the hotel stole it for example)?
Currently staying near Atlanta and love it so far!

Hmm I don't know what would happen, but I honestly wouldn't trust a Hotel delivery.

I would honestly say to look in the local yellow pages or online for smaller electronics/computer stores. Most of them will have their own websites where you can check their stock. I probably wouldn't get something delivered if I was in a foreign country just because if something went wrong, you'd run into a lot of problems. For example, if your laptop gets delivered and it's defective, you're going to have to ship it back to the vendor, and they're going to have to go through whatever their process is, and then ship it back to you, and this takes time.
In my opinion, it would probably be best to decide on what laptop you're considering buying, and then finding the stores that sell them and comparing prices, rather than picking a store and just buying whatever they have there.
So basically, I would pick a few laptops I'd want to buy, then look them up in stores in the local area, both big chains, but also smaller local stores if there's some around, and compare prices. Big stores will probably be cheaper, but there's probably better selection at smaller stores. Then, find the best price, head out to the store, and buy it.

Lenovo Y500 series was a great buy during their July 4th sale, but it ended on the 10th.

I used http://www.gaminglaptopsjunky.com/ to find my current computer. The site links laptops in various price ranges that appear to be good deals (for gaming), and provides relevant details.

Good advice from Mr. Wiggles Thanks for the link Severedevil!

I never bought anything in the US, but every time I looked up prices on Amazon there were some sick offers.
